The reflection statement read, “To my dear CEO husband, if my last reflection was from a work perspective, this time, it’s a dissection from an emotional standpoint.
“Peggy has always been my nemesis, for reasons you should already know. However, I know not to let personal grievances affect my work at Atlas. That said, Peggy’s actions were infuriating and unbearable. She said that her relationship with you was special..I lost control of my emotions and argued with her.
th
“I admit I was upset and jealous. I speculated about your relationship with her. As an Atlas employee, I was wrong. But as a wife, I believe I was justified because these are the feelings I should have. From your wife, Calla Sherman.”
This reflection statement left Calla feeling deeply embarrassed,
It was nearly noon by the time she got dressed and went to the dining room.
When Alicia saw Calla, she immediately pulled her aside and whispered, “Why are you so late? It’s almost lunchtime.”
“I overslept,” Calla answered while touching her face.
“Last night must have been quite the affair, huh?” Alicia nudged Calla’s shoulder with hers.
Calla rolled her eyes. She then pulled the reflection statement out of her pocket and asked, “What did you
do?”
Alicia took the statement and grinned. “Mr. Garland must be very satisfied with it, right? I racked my
brains to write this.”
“You made me so embarrassed! How am I supposed to face him now?” Calla was exasperated. The thought of those embarrassing words made her want to die.
“You two are legally married. What’s there to be embarrassed about?” Alicia dismissed Calla’s concerns.
“You won’t understand. Whatever, let’s eat. I’m starving Calla grabbed a tray and headed to get food.
Today’s lunch was a buffet, and the spread was rich. Yesterday’s physical exertion had left Calla famished, and she had skipped breakfast, so she was very hungry.
After piling her plate with food, Calla noticed a disk labeled “caviar“. Her eyes lit up at once.
She had long since wanted to try caviar but had never had the chance since it was so expensive. It wasn’t something a commoner like her could afford to eat. She finally had the opportunity to taste it today.
Just as she was about to lift the lid of the dish, a staff member rushed over with a smile, saying, “Miss, I’m sorry, but today’s buffet does not include caviar.”
“Oh, okay,” Calla quickly responded.
It made sense. A buffet offering caviar would easily cost over 100 dollars per person. While the buffet for the company trip was quite nice, It was still on a modest budget of about 20 dollars, so it wasn’t likely they’d serve such expensive dishes.
The staff member gave Calla an awkward smile, and Calla nodded politely.
As she turned, she suddenly saw a figure in a black suil, Looking up, she caught sight of Mercer. Her heart

skipped a beat, and she almost slipped–but Mercer caught her just in time.
Calla inwardly swore that she’d never wear these platform heels again. They always put her in an embarrassing situation.
“Why are you always in trouble?” Mercer said reproachfully with a frown.
Feeling both annoyed and embarrassed, Calla quickly brushed off Mercer’s hand and said, “It won’t happen again.”
With that, she turned and walked away.
As Calla sat down, her cheeks burned. Memories of last night flooded back. She glanced around at her colleagues, worried she might give something away.
