Chapter 45

Seeing her lowered face, Mercer smiled slyly. He reached out, but instead of taking the glass, he grabbed her wrist and pulled her toward him. Both Calla and the glass fell onto the bed.

“Ah!” Calla screamed as she was pressed under a massive weight.

The glass rolled away sadly, spilling water, and wetting the sheets. Calla’s hands pressed against Mercer’s chest as she stared at the figure above her in panic. Utterly bewildered, she froze.

‘T–The water spilled,” she stammered after a while. Feeling nervous, she couldn’t help but lick her lips.

It was an unintentional gesture, but it was the most enticing temptation for the man before her. His eyes grew darker, and his voice became huskler, “I don’t feel like drinking water now.”

“W–Why?” she asked, feeling at a loss.

“I want to taste you instead,” he whispered into her ear

Was that a sweet nothing? Even if it wasn’t, Calla’s heart had already melted.

Then, Mercer sealed her lips with his and deftly untied the belt of her bathrobe. His roaming hands made Calla feel flustered. Her brain commanded her hands to push him away, yet they hesitated to obey.

Eventually, she was completely engulfed by his advances and unable to resist him.

“The lights! Turn the lights off!” she shouted in a daze.

Reluctant to leave her, he stretched out his leg and used his toes to switch off the bedside lamp.

In the darkness, with only the faint starlight seeping TM from the window, she couldn’t see his eyes, but she could make out the contours of his face. It gave her the courage to reach out and touch his chiseled features.

He was gentle in his kisses and movements, perhaps out of concern for the baby in her belly. Just like that, Calla was lost in his tenderness.

After their intimacy, she felt a little embarrassed. Why didn’t she maintain her composure? They said. women seduced men, but it seemed men had their own seductive tricks.

Calla kept her eyes closed, too embarrassed to open them. She eventually fell into a deep sleep until the next morning.

When she finally woke up, the sun was already high in the sky. Glancing around, she found the spot beside her empty.

She looked around the spacious bedroom and found that Mercer was nowhere to be seen, but his robe from last night was still draped over the chair beside the bed.

Calla gazed tenderly at the white robe. After a while, she buried her face in the pillow and smiled softly.

As she recalled the events of last night, her face flushed slightly. It was the first time she had experienced the joys of intimacy in her 25 years of life.

Though it was not her first time, her previous experience left little memory. She couldn’t resist him, and

her body was craving for more.

Suddenly, she noticed an envelope on the bedside table. Curious, she reached out and took the envelope.

Printed on the envelope were the words “reflection statement“. Calla immediately realized that this must be the reflection statement Alicia had helped her write.

With nothing else to do, Calla opened the envelope and pulled out the reflection statement inside. As she unfolded it, she couldn’t help but frown.

Was this really the reflection statement Alicia had written for her? No wonder Mercer had said it was not

bad at all.

Calla tossed the reflection statement aside. Feeling regretful, she buried herself under the covers.
