Chapter 82
Milo grinned and said, “I was just teasing you, Mr. Reeves. You didn’t take it seriously, did you?”
Randall couldn’t believe he ended up being despised by two little kids.
Milo blinked his starry eyes and innocently said, “Mr. Reeves, you wouldn’t be thinking about winning over my beautiful mommy and us, the handsome sons, would you? I can tell by a glance that you don’t have that kind of luck.”
This little rascal changed his tune so quickly. Last time, he claimed that his fate was entwined with Randall’s.
And now he said Randall didn’t have the privilege.
Children’s hearts were unpredictable like a summer breeze, shifting direction and intensity without warning.
Randall self–deprecatingly said, “Well, it seems I’m out of my league.”
Oliver’s face was cold and arrogant, and Milo’s face showed a touch of playful arrogance.
Indeed, he was out of his league.
After a while, they arrived at the Reeves family residence.
Oliver and Milo entered the room, each holding a large and small deer plushie. Milo handed the small one to Lindsay.
“Here, this plushie is for you. I hope you’ll be happy.”
Little girls loved cute, pink plushies like this, and as expected, Lindsay’s eyes shimmered when she saw the small plushie. She smiled brightly as if blossoming flowers.
She looked at the deer plushie in Milo’s hands, hesitatingly feeling happiness.
Was this… really for her?
Milo seemed to hear Lindsay’s thoughts and nodded firmly, saying, “That’s right, it’s for you.”
“You can take the plushie from Milo, Lindsay. Take it!”
Christine gently said beside Lindsay. Lindsay happily nodded and took the deer plushie from Milo’s hands.
The deer plushie was so beautiful and cute. She really liked it.
Lindsay hugged the plushie tightly, rubbing its face against her soft and tender cheek. They looked equally adorable. Lindsay was overjoyed. She didn’t expect to not only see Milo and Oliver but also receive such a cute deer plushie from them. It seemed that they didn’t dislike her after all. Anna must have been lying to her.
Oliver and Milo looked at Lindsay’s smiling face, and their sense of guilt slightly diminished. It was their fault for not protecting Lindsay well, which allowed her to be hurt by Anna. They would have to be more careful in protecting her from
now on.
Because she was their sister.
Seeing Lindsay’s smile, Milo playfully teased her, “Little Tail, I’m giving you the deer plushie. What do you want to say to
me?”
“Thank you.”
Lindsay said sweetly while tightly holding the deer plushie.
“Correct. You should say thank you.”
Suddenly, Milo realized and was shocked. He looked at his mommy, trembling with excitement, and said, “Mommy, Little Tail just said thank you to me. Did you hear it? Oli, Oli, Little Tail said thank you to me.”
Milo was about to go berserk, but Oliver pulled him and furrowed his brow. “Calm down. I’m Oliver, not Oli.”
When Milo got excited, he would call Oliver “Oli.”
Oliver always felt annoyed when Milo got worked up and called him Oli.
“Stay calm. I heard it,” Oliver reassured him.
After hearing his brother’s words, Milo’s mood settled a bit. He looked at Mommy, who had a radiant smile on her face.
Did Mommy know that Little Tail could talk now?
Randall stood beside them, speechless. When he asked Lindsay to call him “Daddy,” she refused.
Yet, she seemed to have a good impression of Christine and these two little kids, thanking them and everything.
But she wouldn’t say a single word to him.
Chapter 82
It was truly a blow to his sense of being a father.
Christine listened to Lindsay say thank you to Milo and felt even more gratified.
“You just said thank you to Milo. You’ll say many more things in the future, right, Lindsay?”
Lindsay nodded vigorously. She had so many things she wanted to say to Mommy, as well as to her two big brothers.
‘Little Tail, you’re amazing.”
Oliver applauded, breaking his usual cold and arrogant demeanor. They had never heard Oliver praise anyone before.
Milo had tried so hard to earn his brother’s praise, but even when he received the prestigious medical award, Oliver never praised him.
Yet, Little Tail only said “Thank you,” and Oliver praised her.
Her brother was actually praising her.
Milo was stunned, feeling a tinge of jealousy.
Meanwhile, Christine had the same surprised expression as Milo.
And Lindsay, upon hearing her big brother’s praise, felt even happier. Her big brother praised her! She thought she should speak more often.
Lindsay felt incredibly happy. She had a daddy, a mommy, and big brothers by her side. She felt like the happiest little girl in the whole world.
Then, Oliver presented another large plushie to his mommy.
“Mommy, this is for you,” he said.
Christine exclaimed with delight, “I have one too! Thank you so much.”
Christine’s eyes filled with happiness as she looked at her two sons. Her two sons always thought of her, no matter the time or place.
Lindsay looked at the small deer plushie that looked identical to Mommy’s in her hand. This made her even happier.
She already liked this small deer plushie, but now that she had an exact match with Mommy, it felt even more special. She loved this deer plushie even more.
Lindsay pointed to Mommy’s deer plushie and then proudly displayed her own. She was extremely happy.
Randall stood aside and watched his daughter. Every time his daughter was with them, she would smile so happily. They could give her a joy that he couldn’t provide.
“Lindsay, you look so cute when you smile,” Christine said tenderly while stroking Lindsay’s soft hair. “Big brothers and I need to go now. I will take them home. Remember to eat well and rest, and have fun with your big brothers at kindergarten tomorrow, okay?”
Lindsay was shocked.
Mommy wanted to leave again? Didn’t Mommy say that she wanted to stay?
Lindsay grabbed Christine’s hand and gently shook it, her eyes filled with longing, continuously staring at Christine.
Christine understood that Lindsay wanted her to stay, but living in the Reeves family’s house with her two sons might not be appropriate. After all, they were not related.
Randall noticed his daughter’s thoughts and spoke to Christine, “Didn’t you agree not to leave tonight?”
Was it just her imagination? Christine felt that Randall’s words were quite ambiguous.
It wasn’t her imagination because Milo was once again stunned and looked like a shocked “emoji.”
What did scumbag dad mean by that? Did Mommy promise not to leave tonight? Had their relationship reached this point?
Was it because their mommy was not leaving tonight that she asked their scumbag dad to pick them up?
So when their scumbag dad said he could be their daddy, was he setting the stage for something?
Could it be that they had rekindled their relationship?
Milo communicated with Oliver through telepathy. “Oli, Oli, what’s going on?”
Oliver felt a headache again.
His expression was extremely helpless.
He replied through telepathy. “Don’t ask me. I have no idea too.
Milo awkwardly chuckled.
Let’s just wait and see.”
Chapter 82
Christine clearly sensed the misunderstanding between her two sons. She panicked and explained, “Oliver, Milo, don’t misunderstand. Lindsay has a fever, so Mr. Reeves asked me to stay and take care of her. But I think Lindsay seems fine now, so there shouldn’t be a problem.”
