Chapter 78
Chapter 78
Randall looked at Christine, who was sleeping in his arms. He was impressed at how carefree she was.
She had fallen asleep in his embrace. If it were any other woman, they would probably be so excited that they would not be able to fall asleep.
Three hours later, feeling the little girl’s movement in her arms, Christine woke up abruptly and found herself unknowingly sleeping in Randall’s embrace. She felt a bit awkward.
When she was asleep, did that despicable Randall do anything to her secretly, or did she make any strange sounds?
“You slept so soundly.”
However, Randall teased Christine at this moment, and it caught her off guard. She felt embarrassed to the point uncontrollably and becoming at a loss for words.
of blushing
Christine ignored Randall’s remark. She then pretended to be calm and asked her sweet little Lindsay.
“Lindsay, are you awake? Is there anywhere that still feels uncomfortable?”
Lindsay opened her eyes and saw her mommy still holding her, and her cute doe–like eyes twinkled with delight.
The dizziness and tightness in her chest from the fever were completely gone. She looked at her mommy with starry eyes.
Most importantly, she realized that Mommy was hugging her while Daddy was hugging Mommy-
This made her feel so happy. It was like bubbles of joy were bubbling up inside her.
Daddy and Mommy were going to be together? In the future, she would not only have a daddy but also a mommy.
Just thinking about it made her excited.
Christine noticed that Lindsay’s smile seemed a bit peculiar. She touched Lindsay’s forehead and asked, “Lindsay, are you still feeling uncomfortable?
Seeing Lindsay shake her head, Christine felt relieved.
At that moment, she noticed Lindsay’s sweet and mischievous smile, and Lindsay’s gaze seemed to be fixed on Randall
Suddenly, Christine understood the meaning behind Lindsay’s peculiar smile.
It was a gossip–filled smile!
She hastily lifted Lindsay from Randall’s embrace. Then, she placed Lindsay on the bed.
“Lindsay, since you’re okay now, I need to go back to work now.”
After saying that, Christine was ready to leave. But then she heard an urgent voice behind her.
“Mommy, don’t go.”
Was it Lindsay speaking?
Christine was utterly surprised. She turned around and saw Lindsay blinking her innocent big eyes, speaking clearly.
“Daddy, Mommy together.”
It was indeed Lindsay speaking.
Christine was thrilled and rushed back to Lindsay, hugging her tightly.
“Lindsay, you can talk now. That’s wonderful!”
Christine was excited because Lindsay could speak. However, she overlooked the fact that Lindsay referred to her as “mommy, indicating that Lindsay wanted her to be with Randall.
Hearing his daughter speak again. Randall’s heart leaped with joy.
Over the years, he had tried everything to get Lindsay to speak but failed. However, this woman, who had only known Lindsay for a short time, was able to make her speak.
Randall was both shocked and pleasantly surprised
Regardless of this woman’s motives, at least she could make Lindsay speak
Lindsay looked at Randall with pleading eyes. Although she didn’t say anything else, Randall knew what Lindsay wanted.
“Lindsay, you know that Daddy always fulfills your wishes. I will do as you wish and be with her.”
After saying that, Randall wrapped his arm around Christine’s shoulder. It was at this moment that Christine realized what Lindsay had said earlier. She immediately panicked and explained, “Lindsay, you misunderstood. I am not your mommy.”
Chapter 78
Upon hearing Christine’s words, Lindsay’s innocent eyes dimmed slightly.
Did Mommy still not want her?
Sensing Lindsay’s emotional fluctuation, Randall’s gaze turned cold in an instant. He whispered in a low voice, “Lindsay’s condition has only just improved, and she can speak now. Are you trying to worsen her condition?”
Randall’s words left Christine speechless. It was a very good sign that Lindsay could speak.
As a doctor, she knew this was a critical time for Lindsay’s well–being and couldn’t risk upsetting her.
Instead of denying the misunderstanding. Christine gently changed the topic.
“Lindsay, are you hungry? Shall I make some food for you?”
Christine couldn’t explain that she wasn’t Lindsay’s mother, as it would only upset Lindsay. However, she also couldn’t let Lindsay continue to believe that she was her mother, as it would be unfair to Lindsay and the person who gave birth to her.
She could only change the topic.
Lindsay nodded, indicating that she was indeed hungry after sleep.
Christine went to prepare a sandwich while Randall sat by Lindsay’s side and looked at her. His gaze filled with a mixture of concern and happiness. He asked gently and nervously, “Lindsay, call me Daddy. Can you call me Daddy?”
Randall looked at Lindsay expectantly, but Lindsay looked at Randall with confusion. She refused to speak again. Randall felt a little disappointed.
However, he comforted himself that it was a sign of improvement as long as Lindsay was willing to speak. Her condition would get better and better.
Although Lindsay didn’t speak, she hugged Randall tightly, bringing warmth to his heart.
She was like an angel who had appeared in his life.
He loved her more than anything else in the world, even his own life.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen of the Reeves family’s residence, Christine prepared a slice of sandwich with salmon, egg, and some vegetables, along with a cup of yogurt.
It was light and refreshing, very suitable for patients to eat.
The kitchen was well–equipped, like a five–star hotel. There were all kinds of fresh ingredients.
Knowing that Lindsay had caught a cold, the kitchen had already prepared some refreshing food and yogurt with fruit flavors. It showed the Reeves family took considerate care of Lindsay, paying attention to every detail.
“Lindsay, let me feed you. Okay?”
Christine put the plate on the table and cut the sandwich into smaller pieces.
When Christine finished cutting, she put the smaller pieces of the sandwich into Lindsay’s mouth.
Lindsay ate the sandwich that was brought to her mouth in one bite. The sandwich made by her mommy tasted really good, filling her with a sense of pure happiness.
At this moment, Lindsay had some mayonnaise on the corner of her mouth.
Christine was looking for a tissue when Randall sat on the other side and gently wiped the mayonnaise off the corner of Lindsay’s mouth.
One was feeding sandwich, and the other was wiping her mouth. The treatment was just too good. Daddy sat on the left side, Mommy sat on the right side, and Lindsay felt incredibly lucky. The feeling of happiness was like a dream.
Lindsay held onto her daddy with one hand and her mommy with the other, afraid that they would run away.
Randall and Christine could feel Lindsay tightly clutching their clothes. They instinctively looked at each other at the same
time.
When Christine’s gaze met Randall’s, she instinctively looked away.
“It looks like I’ll have to trouble you to take care of Lindsay today,” Randall said.
Christine was a little surprised that Randall would talk to her so politely.
When it came to his daughter, he was genuinely attentive.
Actually, even without him saying it, Christine would have stayed to take care of Lindsay today.
She knew Lindsay didn’t feel secure. Lindsay had just woken up, and she wouldn’t let Christine go.
Hence, Christine had already taken leave from the hospital. The director had arranged for other doctors to cover her shift.

Lindsay, are you finished eating? Would you like me to read you a storybook?” Christine asked gently.
Lindsay happily nodded her head. She was delighted that her mommy would read her a storybook.
Christine checked Lindsay’s temperature and found it had come down, but she still had a slight fever. She gave Lindsay some water and then began reading her a storybook.
