Chapter 77
Chapter 77
Christine was stunned. What kind of joke was this?
She would love to let Lindsay be her daughter, but this additional condition completely discouraged her.
Christine’s gaze turned faint, and she smiled faintly. She said, “Mr. Reeves, I really care for Lindsay, but I haven’t reached the point of being so desperate to jump into a fire pit.”
Randall furrowed his brow. After all, he was Randall Reeves, the top tycoon of Archiland.
Did she just say that he was a fire pit?
“Do You women all enjoy playing games of saying one thing and meaning another?”
Randall smirked. His voice was both seductive and bewitching, always stirring one’s heart unintentionally.
Christine quickly averted her gaze and did not dare to look him in the eye. It was the first time she had seen someone’s gaze that could capture one’s soul with just a glance.
Christine forced herself to remain calm and casually said, “Mr. Reeves, Lindsay is sleeping now. Aren’t you afraid of waking her up with all your non–stop talking?”
Randall smirked coldly, but there was a hint of bitterness hidden under his smirk. She was the first person in the world to find him talkative.
He usually detested people who talked too much, and he never expected that one day he would be criticized for talking too much.
It was truly ironic!
In a low voice, Randall said, “Lindsay is asleep. You can put her on the bed.”
Christine looked at the peacefully sleeping Lindsay in her arms. She looked too adorable, and Christine was reluctant to let go of her.
However, it would be more comfortable for Lindsay to sleep on the bed.
Just as Christine placed Lindsay on the bed, Lindsay’s eyes suddenly opened wide, and she immediately reached out and crawled back into Christine’s embrace. Then, she started to whimper and cry.
Christine felt extreme heartache, so she continued to hold Lindsay in her arms, gently rocking and patting her back. Then, She hummed a lullaby out of habit, trying to soothe Lindsay back to sleep again.
This was the first time Randall had seen someone who could lull Lindsay to sleep. This was because Lindsay never allowed anyone to soothe her to sleep.
Lindsay had always preferred to sleep on her own, curling up and playing until she was tired enough to sleep.
She never let anyone hold her to sleep.
As Randall watched Christine cradle and lull Lindsay to sleep, he inexplicably felt that the scene was unexpectedly beautiful.
Christine sensed Randall’s intense gaze from aside. Why was this man staring at her like that?
Had he never seen someone lull a child to sleep before?
Randall approached Christine and said, “You’ve been holding Lindsay for a long time. Your hands must be numb. Give her
to me.”
Although her hands were getting a bit numb from holding Lindsay for a long time, Christine was still reluctant to let go.
But she didn’t want to appear possessive of Randall’s daughter. Otherwise, he might suspect she had ulterior motives again.
Reluctantly, Christine handed Lindsay over to Randall. However, as soon as Randall took Lindsay in his arms, Lindsay furrowed her brows tightly, and her body trembled as if she was about to cry.
Seeing Lindsay feel upset again, Christine immediately snatched Lindsay back from Randall and gently patted her back.
“Lindsay, I’m here. Go to sleep. I’m here
Upon hearing her mommy’s voice, Lindsay slowly relaxed her furrowed brows, and her tiny hands held onto Christine’s clothes tightly.
Christine realized that she couldn’t leave today.
Lindsay lacked a sense of security. She had a fever and felt uncomfortable, so she became even more dependent on Christine.
If Christine were to leave, Lindsay would cry and feel devastated.
So today, she decided to stay and accompany Lindsay.
Chapter 77
Christine looked at Randall and said. “Mr. Reeves, I can stay with Lindsay. You have many matters to attend to in your company. It’s better if you go first. I’ll be enough here.”
This was his home, yet she was telling him to leave.
Randall’s gaze deepened. He said sternly. “Lindsay is my daughter, and she’s sick. I should stay here with her. No matter how important the matters in the company are, they can’t compare to my daughter.”
Upon hearing this, Christine couldn’t help but admire him. He was much better than those fathers who were indifferent and neglectful.
Randall might be a good father, but he still couldn’t shed his label as a scumbag.
“Mr. Reeves, you’re really a good father.”
Christine responded with a faint tone. Suddenly, she felt some pain in her waist. Ever since she gave birth, she developed some issues. Even though she was sitting while holding Lindsay like this, her waist still hurt a bit.
But for the sake of Lindsay, she could endure it.
Suddenly, she felt a pair of big hands embracing her, and Randall’s low and magnetic voice sounded beside her car.
“It’ll be more comfortable leaning against me.”
Christine didn’t expect Randall to suddenly embrace her, and her heart raced like a startled rabbit.
Christine said in a panic, “Mr. Reeves, let go of me. I don’t need it.”
Christine struggled to get up, but Randall tightly held her.
Amid her struggle and swaying. Lindsay furrowed her brows. Christine was afraid Lindsay would wake up, so she had no choice but to give in and not move.
Although Christine’s body didn’t move, she continued to protest softly, “Mr. Reeves, I’m fine. Thank you for your kindness.”
Under his dominance, Christine could only pretend to be meek and politely ask Randall to let go.
However, Randall still insisted and said in a domineering tone, “Don’t be stubborn. It’s more comfortable leaning against
me.”
His tone changed, carrying a hint of mischief, saying, “I’m not someone who lets others use me as a human sofa casually.”
Human sofa?
This description was absolutely hilarious. But, to be honest, leaning against this human sofa was quite comfortable.
Most importantly, there was a pleasant smell on him.
Christine blinked her doe eyes and looked at Randall. “Mr. Reeves, did you spray perfume?”
Randall sneered. “I never spray that kind of thing.”
Christine became even more puzzled. “Is that so? Then why do you smell so good?”
Christine took another sniff and felt that Randall was probably not lying.
That scent couldn’t be artificially created perfume.
It was a very pure and warm fragrance.
“According to relevant data, when you perceive a pleasant scent on someone else’s body perfume, it means your DNA has chosen them.”
Randall’s deep voice echoed in her ears, leaving Christine stunned.
though they have not sprayed
What was
Randall talking about? What was his meaning by saying that if she perceived his pleasant scent even when he hadn’t sprayed perfume, it meant her DNA had chosen him?
Did he mean that her DNA made her attracted to him?
Come
on, did her DNA have a defect?
“I’m sorry, I actually sprayed perfume today, so I misunderstood it was your scent,” Christine replied.
Christine never wore perfume. She only said that just to explain her embarrassment. At that moment, Randall placed Christine’s tip of the nose against his neck.
His voice was low as he said, “So, the perfume you sprayed explains why I find you so fragrant.”
Upon hearing that, Christine felt a surge of electricity pass through her body, and she struggled to conceal her flustered
state.
Randall refused to let her go and insisted on being her human sofa.

Chapter 77
Christine had Lindsay sleeping in her arms, and she didn’t want to disturb her, so she could only allow Randall to hold her. She thought that if his hand got numb, he would let go. Thus, she prepared herself for an endurance battle with Randall.
She believed that he wouldn’t be able to endure it and would let go of her first.
However, as time passed. Randall did not let go of her. Instead, Christine found herself getting more comfortable lying there. Combined with the pleasant scent, she gradually fell asleep unknowingly.
