The Regretful Ex-wife by Iced Coffee

Chapter 27

Chapter 0027

“Okay now, Diego. You can go,” Sean said in a hushed voice at the door of the VIP lounge.

“Have a good evening, sire. Call me if you need anything,” Diego replied courteously.

“Of course. I’ll get going now.” With that, Sean exited the VIP lounge and wandered to the entrance of the cruise, where he found Cecilia waiting for him.

“Ms. Worthington, sorry for making you wait,” Sean addressed her with a smile as he approached her.

He was there specifically to meet her.

“Mr. Lakeworth!” She shifted her attention onto him, her mind full of

questions about Sean’s background and his divorce from Tina Sullivan. Still, thinking it wasn’t her place to broach those questions, she hesitated, “Um, Mr. Lakeworth…”

Knowing she was dying to ask some questions, he beamed and encouraged her. “Go ahead. Ask me anything you’re curious about.”

“Uh, what exactly happened between you and Tina?” Twiddling with her fingers nervously, she finally blurted out the question.

“Are you asking about my five years being married to Tina?” he mused, having anticipated the question.

“Yes.” She nodded.

Although she was newly acquainted with Sean, she had a feeling that he was an upright individual with a great personality. He gave off a genuine and honest vibe. Therefore it did not make sense for him to have cheated on his wife and pestered her after the divorce.

Cecilia assumed that there must have been some sort of grave misunderstanding.

“Would you believe me if I told you it was Tina who cheated on me? She slandered me in front of others to protect her image and lessen her guilt,” he told Cecilia sternly.

Caught by surprise, she did not expect to hear an entirely different version of the story from Sean’s mouth.

Eyes wavering, she wondered, “A-Are you telling the truth?”

“Yes.” He nodded.

Letting out a long sigh, she still found it difficult to accept Sean’s words. She debated whether to believe her best friend or Sean, a man who had helped her and won her trust.

Noticing her dilemma, Sean brushed it off with a smile, “It doesn’t matter who’s speaking the truth at this point. Besides, each side will have a different view of the matter and speak for themselves. I’m cool as long as you do not see me as the bad guy.”

“Thank you for opening up, Mr. Lakeworth,” Cecilia said, staring into. his eyes as she made the choice to trust Sean.

More than her sixth sense, she trusted Sean because of Tina’s

behavior on the cruise wedding just now. Tina had been argumentative, while Sean remained composed.

Still, Cecilia could not fathom the reason Tina had behaved so

unreasonably. Perhaps, all Tina wanted was a better life for herself

“Let’s go, Ms. Worthington. The wind is strong at the entrance. You might catch a cold,” Sean gently interrupted her thoughts.

“Sure.” She beamed at him as they walked toward the open-air parking area.

On their way, she suddenly blurted out, “Mr. Lakeworth, may I ask you one more question?”

“Of course.”

“Um… Is your relationship with Mr. Black more complicated than what you described earlier?”
