Chapter 26
Chapter 0026
In the VIP lounge, Sean beamed at Diego, commending him, “Wow, Diego, great performance just now.”
Diego appeared to have transformed significantly during the years. they hadn’t crossed paths.
However, Diego apologized, saying, “Sire, forgive me for overstepping.”
“Overstepping? Why?” Sean was taken aback.
“I made a decision without your consent, and I exposed your identity,” Diego explained with trepidation. He knew that Sean preferred to keep a low profile in public, or he wouldn’t have canceled the cruise
celebration that day.
Diego was forced to show his hand all because Tina and Wayne humiliated Sean in public. Sean might be able to put it behind him, but Diego could not get over it and vowed to get back at the couple.
“Oh, is that what this is? On that note, you are pretty thoughtful,” Sean replied with a chuckle, knowing that Diego wanted to avenge him.
“Sire, thank you for your forgiveness.”
“You’re still as serious as ever.” Sean shook his head with a smile. “B the way, have you looked into that case like I asked you to?”
“My apologies, Sire. I have not found any clues until now,” answered Diego, riddled with guilt for having betrayed his master’s trust.
“Is that so?” Sean’s eyes gleamed.
He curled up his fists. After many years of having Diego look into the case, Diego hadn’t unearthed any leads, which only proved that there was more to his mother’s death.

Sean still vividly remembered the moment his mother gave him the emerald bangle when he was twelve. She had advised him to live well before plunging to her death from the roof on the 24th floor.
Sean’s father rushed to the scene immediately, and he vividly
remembered the indifference in his father’s eyes.
A week after the tragedy, Sean’s father married a young woman. Following that, Sean was afflicted by an unknown illness and was kicked out of his family.
Strongly suspecting he had been poisoned, Sean had a feeling that his mother’s death was likely the doing of the same perpetrators.
Hence, he had sent his men to discreetly gather evidence, especially on his new stepmother. To his dismay and surprise, all clues proved that his stepmother and the Lakeworth family had nothing to do with his poisoning. Whoever did it must have covered their tracks really
well.
Diego picked up on Sean’s distress. Over these years, he noticed that the topic of Sean’s family was the only thing that could rattle him.
He immediately assured Sean. “Sire, I will gather more manpower to look into this case.”
Sean nodded.
“By the way, sire …”
“What is it?” Sean inhaled deeply before turning to Diego.
Diego cautiously asked, “Do you still remember Ms. Sutton?”
“Ms. Sutton? As in Blake Sutton?” There was a glint in Sean’s eyes as
he recalled the name.
“Yes.” Diego added, “She’s been looking for you all this time.”

“Why?” Sean wore a snicker. “Is she looking for me after she learned. about my identity?”
“I believe she doesn’t know yet,” Diego answered.
“Why is she looking for me, then?” Sean questioned with a cynical grin.
Diego offered, “Perhaps, she finds it difficult to forget you.”
“Huh? Whatever.” Sean chuckled.
“Sire, is there a misunderstanding between you and Ms. Sutton? She doesn’t seem like a heartless woman,” Diego opined.
She wouldn’t have been searching high and low for Sean if she was
heartless.
“Diego, you don’t know her,” Sean explained, shaking his head coldly. That’s enough. Don’t bring up her name anymore.”
“But sire, she caught wind that you’re in Skye City. I’m afraid she will arrive in town in a few days. With her influence, she will track you
down very soon.”
“Let it be,” Sean replied indifferently.
Ever since that past incident, he knew there was no hope of any reconciliation with Blake. Even if they encountered each other, nothing good would come out of it.
“Sire, will you stay in Skye City, or do you have other plans?”
“I’m staying,” declared Sean.
There was a pressing matter that he needed to tend to.
