The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 66

Chapter 66

I had never known what it was like to have a man showing concern for me or complimenting me, nor had I ever experienced courting and flattery from men. As time went on, Gordon’s oppression of me made me feel more and more inferior. I felt like I wasn’t worthy to have all these things.

“Taylor, you must be joking! With traits like yours, there must have been a long line of men waiting to pursue you before you got married!”

Ray’s jaw dropped in surprise. He seemed to find it very hard to believe

“There really wasn’t. Nobody has ever pursued me romantically before.”

my words.

I smiled slightly. For the first time, I regretted it a little. I spoke the truth. A man has never pursued me romantically.

“Taylor, it must be because you’re so outstanding that most men hesitated to do so. They must have been afraid that you wouldn’t like them. At my school, the campus belle was pretty and came from an average family background, so there were a lot of guys who were bold enough to pursue her,” Ray said, smiling as

he tried to comfort me.

Then, we started chatting.

“What did she look like? Do you have a photo?” I asked.

“Yes, wait a moment.”

Ray scrolled through the album on his phone. Then he showed me a photo.

hat she

“That’s her. Her name is Sabrina, and at the time, many guys were interested in her. I don’t know what she was thinking, but ultimately, she chose one of my friends to be her boyfriend,” Ray said.

What a coincidence.

I hadn’t expected the world to be so small. My current assistant had been at university with Sabrina, and he was even a good friend of her boyfriend.

I glanced at the photo. Sabrina was dressed in a graduation gown, and she was smiling brightly as she sat on the grass with a couple of other young women. She didn’t have particularly striking features, but she did look refreshingly attractive, like a lily. She was the kind of woman that men liked.

So, she had been the campus belle, and many men had been interested in her. In this aspect, she was much more accomplished than I was.

Sabrina had everything that I never had.

It’s no wonder I could only grovel at her feet, even though I was an heiress. It’s no surprise I had become a pawn that she had just tossed away into the sea.

She had nothing, but she was filled with confidence, and she had successfully climbed her way up the social ladder.

Cliapter 66;

“What’s her personality like?” I asked curiously as I stared at the picture of Sabrina.

“It’s hard to say. I think she’s very arrogant and quite ambitious too. She always seemed to know what she wanted. In comparison, my friend doesn’t have a lot of désires. He’s very easygoing, so I think that they

won’t last.”

Ray’s brow furrowed as he analyzed the situation. He was very willing to share his thoughts with me.

“Have you ever pursued her?”

I smiled as I crossed my arms.

Ray laughed out loud and shook his head as he said, “She’s not my cup of tea, Taylor. I don’t like women who are too prim and who think too highly of themselves. Life is tiring enough as it is. How could I bear it

if I had to serve a woman who thinks of herself as a queen?”

Ray’s description made me laugh.

I began to understand Sabrina a little more through his description.

It seemed that Sabrina had chosen that boyfriend of hers so that she could be treated like royalty. It’s unsurprising that I had seen her rebuking him at the florist’s the other day. I figured that was how they usually interacted.

As I was chatting with Ray, the delivery man arrived with my poached pears.

Ray quickly served it to me. He even opened the box for me, and I took a spoonful of it.

The poached pears tasted very sweet. It’s no mystery that young women enjoyed receiving warm gestures from others.

I reflected on this as I ate. How dumb had I been in my past life to give up everything for Gordon?

As I ate my poached pears, my cousin, Mona, suddenly pushed open the door and walked in.

The moment she entered, she walked around my desk and put an affectionate hand on my shoulder. “Tay, I heard that you’ve started casting the roles. I have a suitable candidate to recommend!” *
