Chapter 65

I was startled by Hector’s advice.
However, as soon as he finished speaking. Hector stepped on the gas pedal and disappeared into the distance very quickly.
I looked dazedly in the direction in which he had disappeared. All of a sudden, I felt confusion in my heart, but I also felt touched.
It was hard to imagine that the man I had once seen as my enemy had been so understanding of me.
Unnoticed by me, my mother, Daisy Calson, had come up behind me, carrying a watering can. She had probably been watering the flowers in the yard.
She asked me gently, “Tay, who was that? Why haven’t I seen you with him before?”
“He’s a friend, Mom.”
“Oh, he looks nice,” Mom murmured to herself.
I couldn’t help laughing at her comment.
I teased her and asked, “Which part of him looks nice, Mom?”
She laughed and reached out to caress my face tenderly.
She said, “I think that anyone who’s a friend of yours is nice.”
Mom had always been that way. Ever since I was a child, she had obeyed my every whim and allowed me to do everything that I wanted to do. She never interfered with the friends I made, either.
“Mom…”
I had begun to feel how precious family was, and I couldn’t help diving into her arms. I thought that I was very blessed.
“Why are you so dirty? Go and take a shower. Why are you still acting like a wild child at your age?” Mom
scolded me.
She had clearly gotten a whiff of the smell of seawater on me.
I giggled and ran inside. I had a very satisfying shower and ate a delicious dinner that Mom had prepared. After that, I fell asleep very quickly because of how tired I was.
The “Desperate Love” team was almost done with the preparations. We would start casting next.
I arrived early at the office, and Ray immediately came over with a huge pile of materials for me to choose from. He stated that all of the profile
were actresses who were interested in auditioning for the
female lead character of “Desperate Love“,
I flipped through all the bios while Ray stood beside me.

He suddenly asked me in concern, “Didn’t you get any sleep last night, Taylor? Why do you look so pale?”
“Do I?”
I picked up a mirror to have a look. My lips and complexion did look rather pale, perhaps because I had been exhausted recently.
My period suddenly arrived this morning, so I did feel a little weak.
“You must have been working too hard and didn’t get enough rest. I’ll order you some poached pears in wine. It’ll be good for you,” Ray said.
He immediately pulled out his phone and made an order for me.
This little gesture warmed my heart, I looked up at him and caught him smiling at me.
Perhaps it was because he was a young man who had just graduated from college, but his smile was so sunny that it made me feel as if a spring breeze had caressed me. My mood brightened at once.
“Ray, you’re so thoughtful. There must be many women who fancy you,” I said teasingly.
“There are women who like me, but I don’t like any of them. I like more dominant, mature women like you, Taylor. It’s too bad that you’re already married, or I would definitely be pursuing you.”
Ray was so direct that it made me laugh.
“This is the first time I’ve heard anyone say that they prefer women like me.”
I felt confident that all women enjoyed receiving compliments, especially from men. Moreover, this was the first time that I had gotten a compliment from someone.
I had fallen entirely for Gordon when I was young, and I had neglected everyone else around me.
Gordon’s retreating figure was the only thing that remained of my youth, and after that, we had rushed
into marriage.
