The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 67

Chapter 67

Mona was dressed as extravagantly as always. She was adorned in dangling earrings and thick makeup and wore a trim suit. It made her look like a wealthy older lady. The overpowering scent of her perfume made me frown.

“Who do you want to recommend?” I asked impassively.

“She’s here with me. One of the dramas she was in had a huge burst of popularity, so she’s quite famous. The most important thing is that she isn’t asking for a high salary this time. It’s definitely within our budget.

Mona clapped her hands thrice, and a woman with wavy hair who was wearing a long, black dress walked into my office.

The both of us froze when our eyes met.

I hadn’t expected Nora to be the actress that Mona was recommending, and she obviously hadn’t expected me to be the investor behind this project.

Mona was simply looking for trouble.

Didn’t she know about the rumors of Nora and Gordon? Or was she pushing Nora to me just to annoy me?

My expression immediately turned as black as thunder as I said coldly, “Momo, is this the person you want to recommend? I’m sorry, but she isn’t suitable for the role. She’s too old and ugly and doesn’t match the role of the female lead.”

I refused to be polite to Nora.

Nora looked stricken.

She instinctively tried to walk up to me to argue, but Mona blocked her path and smiled as she said, “How could that be? Ms. Flores is only 26 years old. She looks mature only because of how she’s dressed, but a good actress can adapt their appearance to suit the role.

“Ms. Flores really wants to be part of this drama, and she’s willing to take a pay cut for it. Taylor, just consider it. After all, Ms. Flores has won awards before, too.”

I had no idea what Mona’s motive was. My refusal was apparent, but she was still insistent.

I glanced at Nora. Unexpectedly, she looked much more meek now compared to how aggressive she had

been before.

She came up to me and squeezed out a smile as she said, “Ms. Morgan, may I speak to you in private?”

“I don’t have anything to say to you,” I refused coldly.

However, she said pleadingly, “I won’t take up too much of your time. Besides, I think that there’s a misunderstanding between us.”

A misunderstanding?

Chapter 67

Was she referring to the incident between her and Gordon?

If so, then I did want to hear what she had to say

“Alright, I’ll give you ten minutes. Ray, please head out with Mona,” I said as I glanced at my watch.

Ray and Mone immediately left my office and closed the door behind them.

Nora pulled over a chair and sat down opposite me. I noticed that she looked much more haggard now compared to how high–spirited she had been before. Even the thick makeup she had on could not hide the exhaustion in the corner of her eyes.

1 lowered my head and spooned a slice of poached pear into my mouth. The sweetness of the poached pear suited me very well, especially after my recent hangover.

She remained silent, so I said carelessly, “Say whatever you want to say.”
