Chapter 47
Chapter 47
Just for show?
Was it all just an act? If so, how can his repeated actions and financial investments in those women be explained?
I didn’t know and refused to know the details.
So, I said, “Whether it’s just for show or if they’re genuine feelings, it doesn’t concern me. Mr. Judd, I’m going to change now. Are you sure you want to stay?”
Only then did Hector notice the extraordinarily magnificent white gown in the VIP dressing room, with professional stylists waiting inside.
He instinctively gasped in awe at the sight of the gown. He then quickly waved his hand, stepped back, and smiled awkwardly.
“Go ahead and change. I won’t waste your time. I’ll wait outside and guard the door for you. Just call me when you’re done.”
The dressing room had a lock. I wondered why Hector felt the need to watch the door.
I’m increasingly puzzled by his intentions. Why was he suddenly so attentive to me?
1 didn’t want to dwell on the matter. With the assistance of two attendants, I changed into a white gown. Then, I sat before the mirror to do my makeup.
With the help of professional hairstylists and makeup artists, my hair and makeup were swiftly completed.
The styling and makeup were far more intricate and detailed this time compared to my previous experience at the clothing store.
After they finished, I looked at myself in the mirror. By the time I was ready, I realized that it was almost time for the gala dinner.
The door was already open. Thus, I walked out while holding up the hem of my dress.
Hector stood by the door. His jaw dropped in amazement as he caught sight of me.
After a brief moment, he finally spoke, “Wow, you look absolutely gorgeous in that gown.”
Although it was a compliment, it sounded cheeky coming from him. I couldn’t help but smile wryly.
“Well, it’s not too bad. At least I’m not ugly.”
“You’re not ugly at all! You look like a fairy who’s descended to earth. Gordon must be blind to leave such a beautiful wife and flirt outside. I’ll definitely scold him later!”
As Hector spoke, he extended his hand toward me like a true gentleman.
I placed my hand on his arm, and he escorted me toward the venue.

His white suit matched my white gown perfectly, leading people to assume we were a couple. We received many admiring glances along the way.
Hector was quite handsome, though in a different way from Gordon. He exuded a straightforward charm. with a touch of roguishness and playfulness.
I remembered how Hector, Gordon, and their two other friends treated Sabrina with special attention
while being indifferent toward me in my past life.
But now, for some reason, Hector has changed, being particularly good to me while seemingly indifferent to Sabrina when she was around.
He escorted me into the gala venue. When we arrived, guests were already seated, and the dancers on stage had begun warming up.
Gordon, seated at the central table, noticed me being escorted by Hector from a distance. His expression immediately changed, and he approached us quickly.
As he neared, he brushed off Hector’s hand and arrogantly grasped mine. He shot a fierce glare at Hector.
“Am I dead? Do I look like I need you to shoulder my duties?”
Accustomed to the banter and playful teasing, Hector chuckled at Gordon’s jealousy. He clicked his tongue at Gordon.
“I was only trying to assist you in escorting your wife, and this is the thanks I get.”
