Chapter 85
Chapter 85
“What? Is this Lisa? Are you being scammed?”
“Don’t be ridiculous. I was having dinner with Leonard at this restaurant and won a sweepstakes.”
“What?!”
“Are you in or not?”
“Of course I am! I’ve never stayed in a five-star hotel before. By the way, did you ask Leonard about the refund?”
“I did. The company will refund it tomorrow.”
“I love you!”
Lisa smiled and put her phone away.
Leonard returned from the restroom and noticed the flier on the table. It displayed the words “Marriott Hotel’s Luxurious Couple’s Suite” prominently, with pictures of a window-side circular bathtub and a bed with rose petals.
At the bottom of the flier was a key card with room number 1314. Even Leonard, a business veteran, felt a tremor at this
moment.
‘She had just gifted me an umbrella, a symbol of wanting me to shelter her from the storms of life. And to top it off, she wrote a love letter about us growing old together. Now, we get to spend the night in a couple’s hotel room?’
Leonard was shocked. Even though he had hinted he would not divorce her, they were becoming a real couple too quickly.
He had heard that young girls these days were more passionate, but he did not believe it. Still, Leonard and Lisa’s marriage was already registered.
‘Engaging in intimate activities now would seem normal.’
Leonard’s mind was in turmoil. He did not feel repulsed at the idea of being physically involved with Lisa, given that they had lived together and he knew her figure well enough.
“I’ve grown to have more physical needs. It’s probably due to being in the prime of my life…’
“You’re back.” Lisa looked up and saw Leonard standing behind her. His handsome face had an indescribable sadness on it.
“Mhm, is that…?” Leonard’s gaze fell on the room key card.
“Oh, it’s the prize I won from the sweepstakes during dinner. I never expected my luck to be this good,” Lisa said, her eyes shining.
‘Hmm…’ Leonard could not believe it.
‘What kind of a restaurant would give away a couple’s suite? Even if it were true, how was she lucky enough to win it? On top of that, there was no mention of any sweepstakes in the restaurant.’
Leonard assumed Lisa was too embarrassed to say it was all her plan and used this excuse to tell him.
“So, you’re going to the hotel tonight?” Leonard’s voice sounded h oa rse. “Are you
sure?”
“Of course.” Lisa was a little puzzled. She would definitely make use of the suite after being given the chance; otherwise, it would be a waste.
“Now?” Leonard asked.
Lisa nodded, and Leonard pursed his lips.
The two walked out of the restaurant together, and the night breeze lifted Lisa’s dress slightly.
Suddenly, Leonard’s phone rang.
It was his assistant, Jackson. “Mr. Zander’s secretary told me that there seems to be an urgent matter at his home, and he
needs to take the 11 p.m. flight back. He wants to move tomorrow’s meeting to now.”
Leonard’s eyes darkened. Johanson Zander had flown to Queenston to discuss a business partnership, and if he had to leave early, it would delay it.
