Chapter 74
Chapter 74
Celine knew about Lisa’s situation as a stand-in wife but never expected her near-death husband to be so handsome. “Didn’t you tell me you have a bad relationship with him? Why’d you bring him here?”
“It’s complicated.” Lisa did not know how to explain it. “Still, I’d probably still be in jail without him. Madison Fill has quite a background. Her family is one of the prominent wealthy families in the city.”
Celine fell silent as they recalled tonight’s events. Her fair face was full of sorrow and desolation.
“Don’t overthink it. You should rest for a while.” Lisa knew her injuries were only skin deep, but Celine’s wounds were an assault on her dignity. She was a university student who had yet to enter society and held her dignity in higher regard than anything else.
Celine’s pale lips trembled. After a long while, she finally said, “L-Lisa, could you lend me some money? I-I don’t have enough to pay for my medical expenses, and-”
“Sure. I’ll pay for you right away.” Lisa did not hesitate.
From what she knew, Celine’s family was not well-off, but she was someone with a strong sense of pride. Celine would not have asked for help if she had other options.
As Lisa turned to go pay, Celine slowly closed her eyes. A tear slipped from the corner of Celine’s eye, quickly turning cold.
Twenty minutes later, Leonard came in with two bowls of porridge and a few buns. The fat man on the middle bed was snoring loudly, and the air smelled of alcohol and smoke, which was unpleasant.
Leonard placed the food down and went to rest in the corridor outside. Lisa fed Celine a few spoonfuls of porridge, but Celine complained of stomach discomfort and could not eat anymore. Then she lay back down.
Afterward, Lisa took the food and left. She found Leonard sitting on a chair across the door. He sat with his long legs crossed as he played with his phone.
Everyone was exhausted after spending a night at the hospital. However, Leonard’s attractiveness did not diminish even when morning arrived.
Lisa sighed at how some people seemed to be favored by fate. Leonard was born into a prominent family with exceptional looks and a model-like figure.
“Um, don’t you want to go home?” Lisa sat beside him and asked, “I asked the doctor, and there’s still a large bottle of medication he needs to administer to Celine. It’ll probably take another hour or so.”
“It’s fine. I can wait for a little over an hour.” Leonard spoke while still staring at his phone.
Lisa was in disbelief when she noticed Leonard playing a game. “You play games too?”
“Why can’t I play games?” Leonard did not even lift his head.
“Don’t you know how old you are-” Before she could finish, Leonard glared at her, saying, “I’m only five years older than
you.”
Lisa blinked. ‘He seems much older than me, even though he’s only five years older.’
“The company I invested in developed this game,” Leonard grunted, “As the boss, I have to experience it personally. Besides, don’t you know that according to user surveys, 60% of online game players are between twenty to thirty?
“The twenty-five to thirty age group is the main revenue source for gaming companies. They prefer users above twenty-five because they have stable jobs and are willing to spend their earnings in-game.”
Lisa did not know what to say for a moment.
‘I was still gaming at his age, while he’s already invested in a gaming company and actively profiting from the younger generation’s obsession with gaming.’
Chapter 74.
Lisa was pretty familiar with the game Leonard was playing since it had gone viral over the last few years.
