Chapter 55

Leonard remained silent for a while, unable to find the right words. He did not say goodbye and left abruptly that night because Lisa had asked for everyone’s number except his. “All right, enough talking. I just want to know what kind of gift I should give,” Leonard said.

“I don’t know what Lisa likes, but I’ve always given luxury handbags and jewelry to my girlfriends. They’ve all been well- received,” Lucas replied.

Upon hearing this, Leonard hung up the phone and left immediately to buy some high-end skincare products and luxury clothing. He noticed Lisa wearing cheap clothing and using low-end skincare products throughout their time together.

Leonard arrived at the Jones family’s home the following morning bearing plenty of gifts and rang the doorbell.

Sebastian, on his way out, warmly invited him inside. “Leonard! You’ve come to visit. Why did you bring so many gifts? Isn’t Lisa with you?”

Leonard felt a bit embarrassed and said nothing. He had visited Sebastian’s home just a few days ago, and now Lisa had left home again.

Isabella could not help but ask, “Leonard, you didn’t kick Lisa out again, did you?”

Sebastian’s heart pounded, and he pushed Isabella aside. “Who are you to question Leonard?”

Then he turned to Leonard and said, “I’ll call Lisa immediately, and you can take her home.”

Sebastian was experienced in handling such situations and quickly contacted Lisa. Meanwhile, Isabella felt the Parker family was mistreating her daughter. She turned away and started crying silently.

Leonard watched this scene with confusion and thought, ‘It seems this stepmother has a good relationship with Lisa.’

However, there was no time to dwell on his thoughts. Norma came over and began rummaging through the presents he had brought.

“Oh my, these clothes are beautiful! They must be expensive. What’s this? Expensive jewelry?! This wine must be good just by the looks of it!” She exclaimed while sca ttering the gifts.

Leonard frowned when he noticed Norma’s lack of manners. If it were not for Lisa, he would not want to stay a second longer.

Two minutes later, Sebastian approached Leonard with his phone. “Leonard, Lisa wants to talk to you.”

Leonard took the phone and walked to the balcony.

Lisa, resting on a hotel bed, was on the other end of the line. She had not slept well the night before, and her face was still throbbing. She had just managed to fall asleep early in the morning, only for Sebastian’s call to wake her. As a result, her voice sounded h o a rse.

“Leonard, come straight to me if you have something to say. Don’t involve my family.”

He felt a lump in his throat, as if it were stuffed with cotton. “I’m not trying to go after your family. My mother woke morning and told us we misunderstood you last night.”

Lísa was surprised to hear this. She did not expect Melissa to stand up for her, especially since the older woman disliked her. Since Melissa had cleared up the misunderstanding, Lisa felt a wave of relief.

As it was quiet on the other end, Leonard quickly added, “Where are you? I’ll come pick you up. I just bought you a lot of gifts. You’ll like them.”
