Chapter Refusing To Be 199
Chapter 199
This was the first time Aveline had been to a place like this. The room was chilling, and the cold seeped from her feet to her entire body. It felt as though countless pairs of eyes were watching her
from behind.
Just standing there was draining all of Aveline's energy.
"Don't be afraid."
Owen's low voice
came through, and Aveline's hands were covered in a thin layer of cold sweat. She spoke in a steady voice, "We want to bid her farewell."
"Alright, just don't take too long. I'll be waiting outside for you."
The staff left, and a cold gust of wind seemed to come from nowhere, startling Aveline into rushing
into Owen's embrace.
Owen wrapped his arms around her waist and let out a faint sigh. "You really don't belong in a place
like this. Go outside and wait for me. I'll be out soon."
"But..."
Owen's expression turned serious. “I've seen enough dead bodies. There's nothing I haven't seen."
Despite his words, Aveline didn't leave. Owen sighed helplessly. "Then just don't look, I'll describe it
to you."
"Okay." Aveline finally agreed to his suggestion.
She retreated behind Owen, her gaze fixed on the dark patterns on his black jacket.
Feeling his arm exerting force, she watched as his hand pulled the lever smoothly and effortlessly.
When the body was pulled out, a foul stench hit them.
Aveline's stomach was already aching, and now it was churning even more. She immediately covered her mouth, feeling nauseous.

She tried to lift her eyes, but suddenly, a hand covered her eye
eyes.
The warmth of the man's palm blocked out all the light.
Owen's voice sounded in her ear, "Don't look, the body... it's quite gruesome."
Aveline had seen some mosale-covered images of Sheila in the news, and she knew there had been a
lot of blood.
Actually, there was more than that.
After so many days, even in the freezer, the body had decomposed terribly.
In front of the body, the only one still lost in thought was him.
Aveline's voice came through, "Have you noticed something unusual?”
Only then did Owen snap out of his thoughts. "Wait a moment."
He turned Aveline's body in a different direction. "Close your eyes and wait for a few minutes."
The quiet room was filled with rustling sounds. Aveline clutched her clothes tightly and asked. "What are you doing?"
"Raising her clothes."
Owen's voice was calm, but Aveline was already trembling with fear, even though she knew that Owen was doing this to confirm whether Sheila had aborted the child.
"She has stretch marks on her belly. Normally, miscarriages happen within 1-3 months. By four or five months, the baby is fully formed, and stretch marks usually appear later. The fact that there are stretch marks means the baby wasn't aborted. Let me confirm it again."
Aveline's heart tightened, and her voice trembled, "What do you want to... how do you want to
confirm it?"
"Her abdomen only has stretch marks and no signs of a cesarean section. I just need to check her cervix, but it's a bit dark. Can you shine a light for me?"
Aveline was almost paralyzed with fear. "You know how to do that?"

She knew about medical procedures, but how did Owen know?
"I've studied anatomy and know a thing or two. Just close your eyes and shine the flashlight for me."
Seeing Aveline hesitating, he said softly, "There's no time to find a forensic doctor. We need to act while the body hasn't been processed yet."
Aveline nodded. "I understand, 1..."
She turned around and glanced at the body, and her stomach churned. "Ugh..."
