Chapter 52
Chapter 52
“As Brian’s friend, you’re here to question me about my infidelity?”
Stella chuckled. “Didn’t Brian cheat on me with Jessica as well?”
“That’s different. They grew up together, so they have a different kind of bond.”
“Oh, so when Brian cheats, it’s a ‘different kind of bond but when I do it, it’s wrong? Isn’t that hypocritical?
Stella laughed in exasperation. “Don’t you think you’re being biased?”
Bernard’s glare was icy as he spoke. “Don’t even think about betraying Brian. Brian and Yoel are both my friends, and I won’t tolerate you toying with either of them.”
This guy is a bit of a hothead, isn’t he?
Frustrated by the futility of arguing, Stella countered, “Fine, why don’t you tell Brian yourself?”
Raising an eyebrow, Bernard spoke. “Look, if Brian hears about this, it’s guaranteed to end in a fight between him and Yoel. They’re both my friends, which is why I’m here to convince you to stop stirring up
trouble.”
Stella rubbed her forehead in frustration. She wondered how she could possibly get through to him.
She said, “It’s fine. Just tell him. He already knows about this.”
“Brian knows?”
“Yeah.”
Bernard’s brows furrowed deeply. His skepticism was evident. “You’re betraying Brian like this? Aren’t you afraid of his retaliation? With his methods, Sendoville wouldn’t hold you for a minute.”
Stella sighed impatiently, “Just go tell Brian yourself. Go on.”
With that, Stella turned and left.
Fury darkened Bernard’s face. He grabbed his phone and dialed Brian’s number. “Brian, do you know your wife is out on a date with someone else?”
Brian’s eyes turned icy at the message. “Which ski resort?” he demanded.
Bernard was stunned. Brian actually knew?
Returning to her seat, Stella found the group nearly finished eating. They suggested hitting the slopes for
some skiing.
Just as Stella was about to head to the locker room to change into her ski gear, her phone buzzed with a WhatsApp message from her mother–in–law.
“Stella, I really hope you can nurture your connection with Yoel. Ideally, we could finalize your divorce with Brian this month. My birthday is next month, and I’d love for Brian to get engaged to Jessica then.”
Stella stared at the message silently.
In just a few days, her mother–in–law and Jessica had become so close
It was clear that the power of a grandchild was immense.
Feeling a touch distracted, Stella stepped out to find the girls from the earlier table huddled together, their voices a flurry of excited chatter.
“I heard Mr. Foley is coming here.”
“Mr. Foley?”
“The CEO of Foley Group, Brian Foley, is the investor behind this ski resort. Don’t you guys know?”
Stella froze in her tracks. Brian was coming?
Did Bernard really run to tattle?
This was truly a situation where she was surrounded by enemies.
But it was fine too. This could be her chance to goad Brian further, perhaps even prompting him to file for
divorce.
Stepping into the ski resort, Stella was met by Bernard’s icy, arrogant stare. It was as if he were saying. You’re doomedi
Stella strolled over to Yoel. Her expression was nonchalant
Yoel helped her secure her protective gear. In the distance, a group of figures approached.
Sensing a shift, Stella swiveled her head in their direction
In a sleek black tracksuit, Brian led the group, followed by Jessica and Joseph,
With their features as flawless as characters ripped from an idol drama, the entire group was a feast for
the eyes.
“What’s Mr. Foley doing here?” Yoel blurted out, glancing at the approaching group.
Stella averted her gaze and adjusted her gloves. “Bernard called him over,”
“How do you know?” Yoel’s confusion deepened. “Do you know Mr. Roach?”
Stella mumbled, the explanation twisting into a confusing mess. She gave up and said, “Never mind. It’s none of our business. Let’s just go skiing.”
“Alright.”
