Chapter 51
Chapter 51
After a pause, she smiled again. “I can’t help it. I’m only 22. You can’t expect me to start living like a nun
now, can you?”
She picked up her luggage and walked past him, leaving behind a faint trail of her perfume.
Brian’s eyes darkened as he turned to watch her leave the room.
She had truly changed.
In the past, her gaze would always follow him.
Now, she wouldn’t even spare him a glance.
Brian’s eyes narrowed.
Stepping out of the taxi at the ski resort, Stella spotted Yoel waiting for her right at the entrance
A gentle breeze tousled his hair, adding to the refreshing and charming aura he exuded in his white
tracksuit.
“Mr. Perkins!” Stella greeted him with a smile.
Yoel gazed at her silently. As she approached, he presented her with a large bouquet of pink daisies. “I
bought these on the way. I thought they suited you quite well.”
Having never received flowers from a man before, Stella was taken aback.
She took the bouquet and inhaled the sweet fragrance with a puzzled frown. “Why do you always give me pink flowers?” she asked in confusion.
Yoel and her friends seemed to share a peculiar fondness for showering her with pink gifts.
After a moment’s thought, Yoel replied, “I guess I just instinctively feel that pink suits you.”
So that explained it.
Walking side by side, they entered the restaurant.
Yoel asked, “Have you eaten yet?”
“Didn’t we agree that I’d treat you to dinner today?” Stella glanced at him sideways with a smile.
A momentary stun gave way to a chuckle from Yoel. “Sure, but it might have to wait. I bumped into some
friends earlier, and they’re expecting me for dinner.”
“That’s fine,” Stella replied.
Yoel led her into the restaurant. As they approached a table, Stella spotted Bernard Roach.
Brian’s childhood friend.
She never knew Bernard was friends with Yoel.
CMAST
Stella was a bit surprised.
Bernard’s brows furrowed tightly as he stared at the daisy in her hand, as though she were some kind of
slut.
“Sit here
“Sit here,” Yoel said as he pulled out a chair for Stella.
Clutching the flowers, Stella sat down just as someone at the table began to tease.
“Are those flowers from Mr. Perkins?”
“Yes,” Stella replied obediently.
“So, you’re Mr. Perkins’s girlfriend?”
“She’s definitely not just any friend. He never brings anyone with him, so you must be something truly
special.”
Stella felt a wave of awkwardness wash over her as the crowd’s chatter swirled around her.
Yoel noticed her discomfort and interjected, “You guys are scaring her.”
“Oh. Sorry,” the group apologized.
After introducing everyone to Stella, Yoel poured her a glass of warm water. “Here, have some water,” he
said kindly.
“Thank you,” Stella replied while taking a sip.
Yoel continued to serve her food around the table attentively, leaving everyone watching in surprise.
One of the girls whispered to Stella, “Mr Perkins rarely shows such tenderness. You must be very special
to him.”
“What do you mean?” Stella asked curiously.
The girl explained, “Don’t be fooled by his gentle demeanor. He’s actually quite cold and aloof. Usually, he just sits quietly and doesn’t talk much. But with you here, he’s become so attentive.”
Stella glanced at Yoel, who was engaged in conversation with someone else. Gold–rimmed glasses. perched on his nose, highlighting its high and prominent bridge.
He epitomized a cool and aloof man, yet he treated her with unexpected warmth.
As Stella prepared to turn away, Bernard’s gaze caught hers. His dark eyes were intense, and a lift of his chin suggested a desire to talk outside.
Picking up on his intention, Stella excused herself to use the restroom and slipped out into the hallway.
Bernard waited outside for her, his gaze cold and piercing as she emerged. “How dare you betray Brian?”
he demanded.
