Chapter 44
Chapter 44
Stella was taken aback. “Mr. Perkins, why are you here?
“I wanted to see your studio and check on your hand, Yoel replied, his gaze falling on her left hand. “Does it still hurt today?”
“No, it doesn’t hurt anymore. It had ached when she bumped it earlier, but the pain had subsided.
“I brought you a tube of ointment I found abroad. It’s very effective for reducing swelling and bruising. Try it,” Yoel said while handing her a tube of ointment.
“Thank you,” Stella replied, taking it from him.
Carrie was dumbfounded. She had a crush on Yoel, but he had always been indifferent toward her. So why was he so gentle with Stella?
And he was doing it right in front of Brian?
Didn’t he worry Brian might beat him up?
Jessica, what’s going on?” Stella asked. Not only was Stella’s expression normal, but Brian’s and Jessica’s faces were too. Carrie felt like the world had gone crazy.
“Don’t you know?” Jessica replied softly. “Yoel and Stella went on a blind date yesterday, and they both seemed quite satisfied with each other.”
Brian raised an eyebrow at Stella upon hearing this.
“Mrs. Foley told me Yoel is very fond of Stella,” Jessica explained.
Carrie’s confusion grew. “What’s happening? Why would they be going on a blind date? Isn’t Stella married already?”
Jessica said softly, “Stella and Brian have an arranged marriage. They never fell in love, but they agreed long ago to live separate lives and find love on their own. Didn’t you know?”
Carrie was stunned.
She couldn’t believe it. How could this be true?
She looked at Brian, who sat sullen and silent. Left with no choice, she turned to Stella. “Is it true, Stella? Are you and Brian in an arranged marriage? Don’t you have feelings for each other?”
“It’s true,” Jessica chimed in. “Stella told me herself a few days ago.”
Brian narrowed his eyes and looked at Stella with an unreadable gaze.
His gaze was quite intimidating.
But Stella still nodded and said, “It’s true.”
Brian’s face turned colder.
“Did you hear that? Brian and Stella aren’t interested in each other. They’ve always lived separate lives,” Jessica chimed in.
Staggered by the blow, Carrie shook her head and confronted Yoel. “Yoel, did you really go on a blind date. with Stella yesterday?”
“Yes.”
“Did you do it willingly?”
“Of course I did it willingly.” Yoel glanced at Stella and replied very seriously, “Stella is a great person, and I admire her very much.”
Carrie was so jealous that she wanted to hit Stella.
Yoel reacted swiftly, pulling Stella close and shoving Carrie aside. He glared at her with narrowed eyes and demanded, “Carrie, what are you trying to do?”
Carrie stumbled back and landed hard on the ground.
Jessica called out, “Carrie, are you okay?”
“I can’t believe it!” Carrie cried, unable to accept the truth. She covered her face and ran out of the studio.
“Carrie!” Jessica instructed her assistant to chase after her,
The drama came to an end.
Yoel looked at Stella in his arms and asked softly, “Stella, are you okay?”
“I’m fine,” Stella mumbled, pulling away from his embrace and stealing a glance at Brian. Standing there, Brian loomed over them with an oppressive presence.
She ignored him and turned to ask Yoel “Did you just come to give me ointment?”
Yoel smiled. “Not only that, I also want to order a suit from you.”
Starlight Couture catered to both women and men with custom clothing options.
Unexpectedly, two businesses came in a day. Stella said, “You can go outside and rest on the sofa. I’ll take Ms. Xenos’s measurements and be with you shortly.”
“Okay.” Yoel and his secretary walked out.
Stella, Brian, and Jessica were left in the showroom.
“Stella, thank you for your trouble.” Jessica broke the silence.
“No problem,” Stella said reassuringly. She then walked over, picked up the tape measure, and re- measured the hem of Jessica’s dress.
Jessica smiled and said, “It seems that you and Yoel are getting along quite well.”
