Chapter 45
Chapter 45
Stella’s spine stiffened.
Sharon had told Jessica about this.
That meant Sharon and Jessica were now close, and Sharon would probably see Jessica as her future daughter–in–law.
“Yes,” Stella said curtly. “Ms. Xenos, are you sure you want to shorten the skirt to below the knee?”
“Yes,” Jessica replied, glancing at Brian.
Brian remained silent, his gaze fixed on Stella. His expressionless face created a heavy atmosphere.
Sensing his stare, Stella stood and met his
eves.
Their eyes locked.
The atmosphere suddenly turned quiet.
Standing between the two of them, Jessica’s heart tightened. “Stella, just shorten the skirt. Don’t alter the waistline. I’m afraid my waist will expand by the end of the month, and I won’t be able to fit into it
anymore.”
Alright* Stella
“Alright,” Stella replied as she came back to her senses.
She didn’t look at Brian again. After taking the measurements, she recorded them on the board. Then, she
asked her assistant to go into the fitting room to help Jessica change out of her dress.
Brian and Stella were the only ones left outside.
“Are your hands okay?” Brian asked her.
Stella turned her head.
“I noticed your hand was swollen when you were taking measurements,” Brian said. “Did Carrie bump into
you?”
She hadn’t expected him to notice.
Straightening up, Stella replied, “It’s fine. I dodged her, so she didn’t hit me.”
“Was it my mother who set up the meeting with Yoel? Did she pressure you into it?”
“I agreed on my own,” Stella said with a smile.
“Why did you agree?”
“Why?” she asked lightly. “Didn’t I tell you? I want to find someone I like.”
Brian was silent for several seconds. Just as he was about to speak, the fitting room door opened, and
Jessica walked out.
“Ms. Xenos, are you sure you want this dress?” Stella asked her as she approached.
Jessica nodded. “Yes, I’ll take this one.”
“Okay,” Stella said, handing her the bill with a total of 68 thousand dollars. The original price was 65 thousand, but Stella had added a three thousand dollar annoyance fee.
“Alright.”
Jessica handed over a black card.
Stella took it.
This card was under Brian’s name.
Stella glanced at the card, her face unreadable. She swiped it to pay the bill, then handed it back to Jessica. “I’ll take this in and shorten it for you. It should be done in about a week.”
“It’s okay, I’m not in a hurry,” Jessica said, taking back her card and turning to Brian. “Alright, Brian, let’s go.
Stella smiled as she saw them out.
Once outside, she spotted Yoel and gave him a light nod.
Yoel stood up and asked, “Are you done?”
“Yes.”
“Here’s a box of cake for your studio employees.” Yoel handed the cake to her.
“Thank you.” There were only four people in her studio. Stella herself and Yelena were the bosses, and the other two were assistants.
As Brian approached the door, Stella’s conversation with Yoel stopped him in his tracks. He turned back with a hint of gloom clouding his eyes.
*Let’s go. Stella and Yoel are getting along well. Don’t always disturb them.” Jessica said,
Brian glanced at her with a coldness settling on his features.
“I’ve been trying on clothes all afternoon. My legs are sore!” Jessica gasped softly.
“Go back and rest early,” Brian said, then turned and walked out of the studio.
Pretending to be weak, Jessica followed behind, but he didn’t offer help.
