Chapter 43
Chapter 43
‘Oh, you’re exaggerating! Stella is really talented, though. The designs look absolutely stunning when worn,
‘Jessica chuckled. “However, I think there’s too much fabric around the waist, and the skirt is a bit too
long. I’d like to have it taken in at the waist and the skirt shortened a bit.”
She turned to Stella and said, “Stella, you won’t mind me being so demanding, will you?”
“Not at all.” Since she’s pregnant, it’s normal for her to be afraid of falling. Stella asked her assistant to bring over a measuring tape.
Just as the assistant knelt to measure Jessica’s dress, Jessica interjected, “Stella, I’m afraid this won’t be accurate enough. Could you measure me yourself?”
“Sure.” Stella nodded.
It was a bit humiliating, but considering the high–end dresses that cost tens of thousands each and her own earnings of twenty to thirty thousand per job, she felt better.
Stella squatted down, her swollen hands raising the measuring tape to Jessica’s skirt hem. “Ms. Xenos, how much shorter would you like it?”
“A little below the knee,” Jessica said, glancing in the mirror. At that moment, Stella was squatting in front
of her like a servant. Jessica felt much better.
However, Carrie had other plans. Seeing Stella’s injured hand, she was struck by the terrifying thought that such an injury could keep Stella from ever drawing again.
With a smirk on her lips, she pretended to fall and slammed into Stella’s injured hand.
Sensing a shadow overhead and a sudden chill, Stella rolled to the side to dodge.
She was unharmed.
But Carrie wasn’t so lucky. She tripped, landing hard on Jessica’s skirt and knocking into her. The impact drew a cry of pain from Jessica.
A fierce glint ignited in Jessica’s eyes as she instinctively clutched her stomach and shot a glance at
Carrie.
The fire died as quickly as it flared, leaving Jessica looking fragile again. “Carrie, what are you doing?”
Carrie rubbed her aching forehead and said, “I’m sorry, Jessica. The floor in Stella’s studio is too slippery. I was wearing high heels and fell accidentally.”
She blamed it on Stella.
Brian was on the phone when he heard the commotion, Furrowing his brows, he walked over and asked, What happened?”
“The floor was too slippery, and Carrie fell,” Jessica explained softly.
id you get hit in the stomach?” Brain asked her.
ssica shook her head and replied, “No. Carrie bumped into my foot, but my stomach is fine.”
ian looked at Stella. “Are you okay?”
m fine,” Stella replied calmly.
eeing how worried he was about the child earlier, Stella’s heart sank.
itella, your studio floor is way too slippery! You don’t even have a rug, and now I’ve fallen. How do you an to compensate me?” Carrie stood up and accused her.
tella’s frown deepened as she started to speak, but Brian’s cold voice stopped her. “Shut up,” he ordered.
arrie was taken aback. “Brian, I’m the victim here.”
Who told you to walk without looking?” Brian snapped, glaring at her coldly.
Carrie didn’t dare to argue anymore.
Surprised that he would stand up for her against Carrie, Stella raised her eyes to find his face tense and etched with dissatisfaction.
‘I hope I’m not interrupting.” Yoel’s voice came from outside the door.
Everyone looked over.
Carrying a box of cake, Yoel walked in with his secretary.
