Chapter 56
Chapter 56
Jenny couldn’t pinpoint where her sense of unease came from, but she started to feel anxious after hearing that Nora knew Mickey.
She was aware that Mickey had always been popular. Compared to his previous girlfriends and the girls who had pursued him, Jenny’s biggest advantage was her family background.
As a result, she was afraid that a woman similar to or even better than her might snatch Mickey away.
Jenny decided to confront Nora directly. “What do you want with Mickey?”
Upon hearing the affectionate address, Nora instantly understood.
“I already told you that I’m just here to catch up with a friend.”
As the saying went, the enemy of your enemy was your friend.
Although Nora and Giselle didn’t get along and even envied each other, Nora also didn’t like Jenny.
After all, the man Nora once desired was now with Jenny, which meant that in Mickey’s eyes, Jenny was better than her.
So, Nora didn’t like Jenny either..
Nora responded rudely, “You’re an agent here too, so why not have me sign with you? However, I’m very demanding of my team, so if you’re not capable, I won’t be satisfied.”
Women often had a strong sixth sense, and even though this was the first time meeting Nora, Jenny still felt a sense of danger.
Jenny retaliated. “There are plenty of Internet celebrities who want me as their agent, but not everyone is qualified.”
“Really? You don’t seem that impressive to me…”
“Nora, what are you doing here?”
Just as the atmosphere was growing tense, Mickey came out of his office, having heard the commotion, and saw Nora.
Feeling a headache coming on, Mickey was overwhelmed by the situation.
His current girlfriend, his ex–girlfriend, and a woman who had once been infatuated with him and pursued him relentlessly…
Mickey felt both a headache and a sense of pride in his charm, which had captivated so many women.
“Nora, are you here to see me? It has been a long time.”
Nora scoffed, “No, Fin just here because one of your company’s agents invited me to join, so I came to check it out.”
“I see.”
Nora glanced at Jenny. “I didn’t expect you to be so fond of Giselle, and now you’re with another woman. Your current girlfriend is…”
Nora arrogantly raised her chin. “It’s not her, is it?”
Mickey’s expression became awkward, and he quickly pulled Jenny into his arms. “Yes, she’s my girlfriend now!”
Jenny glared at Nora. “That’s right. It’s me!”
Chapter 56
Nora looked Jenny up and down with a hint of disdain in her eyes.
Jenny immediately felt ridiculed and questioned, “What do you mean by that?”
“Nothing. I just want to know what makes his girlfriend better than his previous one. Mickey may not be all that, but he’s definitely good–looking…”
Giselle stood by, watching the drama unfold without any intention of getting involved.
Although she was also Mickey’s ex–girlfriend, she had already moved on and didn’t care about the situation.
Instead, she found the animosity between Jenny and Nora amusing. Finally, Jenny had met someone even more troublesome than herself.
Jenny grew irritated. “Mickey, who is she? Why is she so hostile toward me? Could it be that you two also…”
“No! How could she have anything to do with me? She just pursued me before, but I never accepted!”
Mickey’s hurried clarification made Nora’s expression change, her face darkening slightly.
Jenny immediately felt triumphant. “Oh, so you’re a woman who once had a crush on him but failed to win him over. Now you’re taking it out on me. Mickey, hurry up and drive her away!”
“Nora, Jenny is my girlfriend now, so please show her some respect. As for your collaboration with our company, I won’t interfere.
“That was ages ago. I don’t care. I just think it’s natural that I lost to Giselle.”
Nora sarcastically said to Jenny, “If he had rejected me because of you back then… I would be holding a grudge.*
Jenny’s eyes were red with anger. “What is she even saying? Is she in cahoots with Giselle?”
Giselle reminded them quietly. “Don’t drag me into this. I’m already married.”
Nora glanced at Giselle, and considering her husband’s status, she dared not provoke her.
“Mickey, speaking of Giselle getting married, I think her decision to break up with you was the right one.”“
Nora seemed to have come today just to stir up
trouble.
Mickey couldn’t keep calm. “I dumped her. What do you mean her decision to break. up with me?”
“Did you really dump her? How come she got married so quickly? And found a husband with better overall conditions than you?”
Mickey laughed sarcastically. “What are you saying? Better than me? Her husband?”
“A guy selling insurance is better than Mickey? You’re just talking nonsense! You must be in cahoots with Giselle!”
Giselle disliked being blamed for things that had nothing to do with her and reminded them coldly again, “How my husband is doesn’t require your evaluation, and what Nora says has nothing to do with me either.”
Nora was also stunned. What had they just said?
Giselle’s husband sold insurance? How could that be…
Nora didn’t believe such a claim at all. Selling insurance was a common job. How could Hymes enter the South Club?
The people who frequented that place were either rich or powerful, and Giselle’s husband’s demeanor was not lacking at all. He was even more astonishing than the rich kids Nora had seen!
Jenny couldn’t take it anymore and started cursing, “If you don’t want to join our company, just leave! We’re not short of people…
Nora sneered, “You invited me yourselves. Since there’s no sincerity, I’ll leave.”
Just as Nora was about to leave, Tyler hurriedly stopped her. “Hey, hey, don’t go. Let’s have a chat…”
“Alright, let’s all get back to our work…”
Tyler was obviously interested in Nora and wanted to sign her for collaboration.
Jenny was still angry but was pulled back by Mickey. “Don’t cause any more trouble.”
Jenny reluctantly gave up after glaring at Nora a few more times.
While Nora and Tyler discussed business, Mickey was also in the office. Since Nora already had a fan base, her status would be different if she joined their company.
The business director needed to discuss potential business collaborations with her.
Nora said a few words and then her thoughts shifted elsewhere. “Mickey, have you ever seen Giselle’s husband?”
Mickey’s expression turned cold. “I’ve seen him, so what? He’s just an insurance salesman, right?”
Nora spoke meaningfully. “Her husband is not ordinary. You’ll regret it someday.”
