Chapter Pack Greetings
Madilynne's P.O.V
Cracking open my eyes, the dusk greeted me through the windshield. My head was throbbing, and I felt so drained. An engine was running beneath me, the movement of the truck bumping every now and then further waking me from my sleep. How long was I out? Looking up I could see Kade’s hands laying on the steering wheel in a relaxed state. His green eyes watchful as he drove. His gaze snapped to mine as I was admiring him ′ You’re awake! Thank the goddess, I wasn’t sure how long you’d be out for. Kole passed out shortly after you, and let me tell you moving that mountain of a man is not easy.′ His silky voice traveled into my mind.
A burst of light laughter followed with a groan left my lips. “How long this time? I feel like I’ve been run over by a semi.” Looking down at my legs I could feel a hand rested on my shin, pinning me in place. Kole was passed out, his head bumping along with the truck against the window. How was he still sleeping like that? “Just 15 minutes this time, It’s getting shorter every time. Your powers must be advancing with you and your wolf.” Kade said while peering further up into the dirt road. “We’ll be there soon, just announced our arrival.” Kade’s grin was wide.
Wiggling my leg from Koles grip was a bit of a fight, finally freeing myself I sat up and stretched my arms over my head. “Well I still feel like shit, and I’m starving.” I said through a yawn.
Kade chuckled “About five more minutes and then you can eat as much as you want love.”
At the mention of food, Kole stirred awake, “I could eat.”
“Man you always eat, no wonder it was so hard to move you 5 feet, princess.” Kade said through a fit of laughter. Myself following. “Yeah, the prettiest princess you’ve ever laid eyes on.” Koles smile was so big I thought it might break his face. ‘He hasn’t been this light-hearted in years. That’s because of you Madi.’ Kades smiled softened as I looked over at him.
“We’re here!” Kole shouted from the passenger side. Gods finally my legs were starting to cramp up. Kade put the old truck in park, listening I could hear the click of the engine shutting off. Kade jumped out and held a hand out to help me out “Why thank you, good sir, such a gentlemen. How about helping princess over there?” The three of us erupted into fits of laughter as we exited the truck.
“Welcome home sons, and Madilynne. Always a pleasure to see you darlin’ ” Kades dad said while embracing me in a big hug. I caved into his arms, reminding me of my own father’s warm hugs. Goddess knew how much I missed him already. “Thanks for having me, Alpha Grant.” I said as we broke our embrace and smiling at the older man in front of me. He stood taller than Kade and Kole, his shoulders wider, carrying the weight of running a large pack. His face held the telltale signs of age, laughter lines, and wrinkles that were graced with greying hair. His hair was full but had a dusting of greying to it. “Grant or Dad works kiddo.” He spoke.
“Let’s get settled in and then we can find you some food.” Kade said as he grabbed my hand. “Yes please.” I practically moaned out. Kade’s laughter filled the air around us “Let’s get you inside my little foodie.”
“Can I talk to you real quick Madi?” Kole asked as we began to walk towards the packhouse. My steps faltered as I turned and saw the somber expression on his face. ” Hey is everything okay?” I asked, waving Kade to go on ahead of me. I’ll find him later.
“Yeah, I just wanted to thank you.” Kole said as he rubbed the back of his neck. Sighing “I’ve lived with all that for years, I didn’t want to believe my mate didn’t want me. Trying to get over the rejection I lost who I was. I just wanted to thank you for giving me another chance, maybe one day I might find my second chance mate too.” I smiled at the thought of him finding his second chance mate. He deserved to be happy. “I hope you find her too, princess.” Kole chuckled and wrapped his arms around me. “You’ll fit right into this crazy pack. Welcome home Madi.”
Walking into the Packhouse, I was greeted with a modern take inside of the massive log cabin-styled home. My hands gliding against the wooden interior, the Living area was decorated with black furniture. A fireplace sat against a wall and next to it a large bay window overlooking the front yard we came through. “Want me to take you to Kade?” Kole’s voice broke through my intake. “Oh, no, that’s okay I’ll find him. I want to test this bond thing out.” I said bringing a finger up to my head in a tapping motion. Kole shrugged his shoulders in a relaxed way and sauntered into the next room disappearing from my view.
I continued down a hall, I could feel a pull deep inside of me. I followed it along like instinct. Lost in admiring the craftsmanship of the home I ran into a body.
“God’s could you watch where you’re going?” The blonde sneered at me. Oops. “Sorry, didn’t see you.” she scoffed at me as I spoke like I was offending her by existing. “Who are you? You’re not Nightshade pack.”
“Madilynne Parker, Crescent Pack.” I could see it register in her head who I was because the next thing I knew she was shouldering her way past me with a sneer pinching her features. I growled lowly at the disrespect I was shown, Holding in my anger I refrained from whipping around and using my dominance to make her submit. I needed to lay low, I couldn’t risk Miles finding where I was. “Wow, surprised you didn’t choke the daylights out of her. Goddess knows I would have.” A brunette with blue eyes had her arms crossed leaned against the wall, she must have seen that. I internally groaned.
“I’m Aviana, Future Gamma, Everyone calls me Avi guess it’s short for Avocados.” She shrugged. “Why avocados?” I laughed lightly. “Oh girl because I love them, bomb dot com.” she moaned out as I laughed harder. “So what brings you here?” She asked as our laughs sobered. “I’m looking for Kade, I told him I’d find him.” Aviana’s features wrinkled in question and then her gaze traveled to my neck and I could see as it registered who I was “Goddess forgive me, Luna. ” she blurted out while bending her neck in submission. My wolf was happy at the amount of respect the wolf before us was displaying.
“Actually It’s Alpha.” Kade’s voice drifted from a doorway he was standing in.
