Madilynne

Chapter Meditation

Madilynne's P.O.V

Walking out of the kitchen, I could hear as Kade and Jace continued to talk as Cassie coughed, inhaling deeply for air. I smiled to myself, serves her right. I soon found myself standing outside, breathing in the crisp evening fall air.

“Madi!” Aviana waved to me from the distance, turning to a taller male she said something and shortly after started a light jog to where I was. “Woah tiger, what’s up with the eyes? Who pissed in your cheerios?” Her smile faltered as she got closer. Running a hand down my face I growled out “Cassie.”

“Oh. Do tell.” Her eyes were encouraging. I softly laughed “She touched Kade’s arm, and then My mark on him. My wolf lost it. I lost it.” Aviana gasped with her eyes growing wide “God’s is she still alive?” I nodded my head. “WHAT! I’m surprised Your wolf didn’t shred her ass!”

“Aviana please don’t set fuel to the fire.” Kade chastised from behind me. Truth be told, I wanted to. I wanted to snap her neck between my jaws, feel her blood rushing through my fur. I sighed. “I need to run.” Kade nodded “Oh can I join!” Aviana asked, the eagerness written all over her face. “Of course Avi” I smiled “Awesome! Let’s go, I’ll show you the falls!”

“I’ll give you girl’s some time to run, but don’t block me out this time love.” He said placing a soft kiss on the top of my head. “Okay, see you soon.”

Aviana shifted into Her brown wolf with striking blue eyes. I soon followed after her. Shaking my white fur out as I fell to my Paws, I looked to Avi. Even in wolf form, you could clearly see the astonishment written on her wolfish face. I let out a light yip to signal I was ready but Avi just stood there, slowly she began to circle me in a studious way.

I finally had enough of the gawking and began a slow pace towards the woods. Avi followed after, yipping on my left to direct me to the right. Falling behind Avi, I let her lead the way since I didn’t know this territory.

The run to the Falls was absolutely breathtaking. The remnants of the sun streamed through the canopy of trees as we freely ran through, Our breaths coming out in puffs of cold from the crisp air. Reaching the Falls, Avi disappeared behind a Massive tree, coming out a few minutes later in a flannel and black leggings. She passed me an almost identical set, the flannel a green where hers was red. Shifting back behind a tree I quickly got dressed and met Avi in the clearing. “Wow, that was amazing. It’s truly beautiful here.”

“YOU’RE A BLESSED WOLF! Holy hell Madi! I mean your wolf, God’s she’s astonishing!” Avi screeched out, causing nearby birds to scatter. I chuckled at her rambles. “Okay, I’m done now. I just never thought I’d live to see a blessed wolf and here you are. At the Falls with little Ol’ me.” Avi said feigning shock while dramatically gesturing at herself, between the two of us. I had a feeling her rambles weren’t done quite yet, crossing my arms I stood waiting patiently for her to continue.

“Ya know, I vaguely remember learning about the blessed wolves in school. Somethin’ about abilities.. HOLY SHIT THE ROGUE KING! Wait, back the train up, do you have abilities? Hells bells you have to show me!” Avi spat out. Wordlessly moving towards a small, sharp pebble I spotted close to the shore of the Falls. “Watch.” I said as I brought the sharp object to my arm, Avi nodding her head slowly. Dragging the edge of the rock against my skin, I could feel it breakthrough flesh.

‘Everything okay, love?’ Kade’s voice of concern buzzed through my head. ‘Yeah just a demonstration for Avi, I’m okay.’ I replied. I watched as my own blood ran down my arm, pooling into the palm of my hand. Closing my eyes, I focused on my breathing, next bringing my attention to the small wound on my arm. I could feel the knowing hum pulsating across my skin, with the focus meeting Its destination on my arm. Avi let out a loud gasp, opening my eyes I looked down at my arm. All that remained was a light gold scratch. Avi reached for my arm, her fingers skating over the once wound “God’s that’s insane.” Her eyes held wonder and astonishment.

“Okay enough about me. I want to see what we came here for.” I smiled at Avi. “Hell yeah, Let’s go Alpha.” Laughing at her light mockery I followed as she dragged me up a path that carried us against the Falls. Arriving at the top of the falls, I took in all of Its breathtaking views. From here, you could see the treetop canopy we ran through. Each branch weaving through one another, I watched as the continuous water fell, rolling and rocking Its way to the shore, ending its ventures calmly. The sounds It carried, calming me.

‘Beautiful, Isn’t it?’ Kade asked from inside my head. ‘Can you see it? It’s truly amazing Kade.’ Kade’s light chuckle sounded in my head ‘Yeah you shared what you’re seeing with me again.’ Replying out loud I said ” Interesting.” Making Avi’s attention turn towards me “What is?” She asked. “Some of my abilities I have a little control over now. Except for the visions and projection, I guess that’s what you could call it. Kade was seeing what I was seeing. It’s happened once before, with a vision..” My words tapered off as my thoughts carried me to my lost friend. I could feel my eyes beginning to match the wet waterfall, begging to be released.

“Hm, Have you tried meditation?” I looked over at Avi as she spoke, with my eyebrows wrinkled in question. Why didn’t I think of that before! Internally I was kicking myself. Avi rolled her eyes “God’s no one told you to meditate? No wonder you’re grasping for control. We learned to meditate to help connect us with our wolf. It helps with everything.” She said tapping her finger to her head. “Here sit.” Avi had her hands on my shoulders now, directing me to a spot right next to the top of the Falls. “Now close your eyes. Focus on slowing your breathing, let the sounds of your beating heart calm you.”

Doing as Avi said, I took in slow and steady breaths as my slow heartbeat thrummed in my ears. A sense of tranquility washed over my senses. I could feel willow closer to the surface. She wasn’t pushing for control, Instead, it felt like she was settling into her favorite spot, where she belonged. It felt as if a piece of myself was reconnecting finally, like a switch waiting to be flipped at a moment’s notice.

Opening my eyes, Avi was sat next to me. “How do you feel now?” I rolled my shoulders back “Lighter, more in control. I don’t know how to explain it.” I shrugged. “Great, now try your abilities on me.” Avi stated calmly. “Uh, are you sure Avi?” She nodded her head in response. Focusing on my surroundings, I pictured what I was seeing in Avi’s head as she looked at me, waiting. Avi’s eyes glazed over and snapped back to her normal blues just as quickly. ” Woah, now that was cool. Try another!” I thought about what she was asking, the healing was a draining one, don’t want to do that. I don’t think I can force a vision. Hm. What if... ‘Avi’ Her eyes grew wide. ‘Woah can you hear me?’ I nodded with a smile stretching across my face. “That’s awesome! You’re not even Nightshade pack but you just mind-linked me!” Avi shouted, Jumping up from her spot.

“Oh look at what we have here!” Cassie’s shrill voice broke through the serenity of our conversation. I let out a growl “Avi, let’s go.” Turning towards the path with Avi another she-wolf stepped in front, blocking our way. “Not so fast, Madilynne.” Cassie’s voice from behind me held a taunting tone, mixed with bitterness.
