Chapter Challenge Accepted
Madilynne's P.O.V
"Do you really believe Kade wants someone like you?” Cassie’s laughter was taunting. I rolled my eyes at her question. Seriously, What’s her play here? You know what I don’t care.
“Yes, I do believe he wants Someone like me. The real question is will your mate want you? Because all I see standing in front of me is a jealous, sad she-wolf trying to sink her claws in what doesn’t belong to her. Back off.” I turned around as I spoke with a sneer. Cassie’s shallow laughter reverberated through the now darkening Forrest that sat next to the falls.
“And you think you’re his mate? You’re a pathetic excuse for an alpha. This pack will never choose you Madi. In the end, He’ll choose me."
My fists clenched so tightly as she spoke the words laced with venom. I could feel my claws digging into my flesh. Holding eye contact with Cassie I growled out my next words. “Back off Cassie. This is your last warning.”
I saw a brief flash in her eyes, showing her wolf was fighting for control. A smile slipped across my features. Bring it on bitch.
Out of the corner of my eye, I could see Cassie and the two other females she had with her shifting.
‘Madi can you hear me? They’re going to fight dirty. All of them believe they have the right to challenge you.’ Avi’s worried voice peeked into my thoughts.
‘Let them, I accept the challenge.’ I remained in my human skin, I wasn’t going to show who I truly was to these worthless she-wolves. At least not yet.
‘Madi you need to shift!’ Avi’s voice was now flooded with concern. Still, I stood there unshifted. Willow was waiting eagerly below the surface, practically jumping for the awaiting fight to begin.
Kade’s deep warning howl sounded off in the distance. He was warning the she-wolves not to make a move. I could see them fighting his command, as they shook their fur and snarled. They’d be obeying their wolf’s command now.
The three of them circled Avi and I on the path, only one way out. I watched as Avi snapped her jaws in warning at the other two while Cassie had her wolfish sights on me.
The two female wolves dove for Avi throwing themselves deeper into the Forrest as they fought. I could hear the snarls and howls as they rolled further in. ‘Kick her ass Madi!’ Avi’s voice of encouragement shouted in my mind.
Cassie and I now were the only ones remaining on the path.
“Cassie! Back down!” Jace’s voice of warning traveled up the path we were on. Cassie snarled as she stepped closer to me. Holding my ground, I lowered myself into a crouching position. “Ready when you are Cassie.” I spat out, Using her name to taunt her.
I could hear heavy footfalls from behind me on the path, His scent wrapping around me. As Kade shouted to me Cassie dove for my throat, ready for the attack I shifted. Colliding with Cassie mid-air, I caught her right flank in my jaws, Shaking the limb as the familiar metallic taste flooded into my mouth. My wolf stood twice the size of hers, making this an easy fight. I easily had her pinned against my white wolf and the ground. Pushing down harder and locking my jaws in position I heard a snap.
Her painful howl filled the night, silencing everything surrounding us. I released my hold and stepped back, readying myself for her next move. Cassie slowly got up and just as quickly collapsed to the ground. My white paws carrying me closer again to the injured she-wolf, stopping just in front of her.
′SUBMIT’ Willow growled out our command. I watched as her wolf fought our command, whimpering and lowering herself to me as I snarled.
The sheer dominance was pouring from me now, out of the corner of my eye I could see Avi, Jace, and the other she-wolves on their bellies with their necks exposed. The only one standing was Kade, I could sense him behind me.
Cassie continued to fight ′I WILL NOT SUBMIT TO YOU!′
Kade let out a deadly growl of warning to the wolf before us. I snapped my jaws at his wolf, ‘this is my fight Kade.’ In my moment of distraction, Cassie saw the opportunity and flung herself at me. Both of us went tumbling towards the edge of the falls, as I jumped up to move away from the falls, Cassie’s wolf pushed me one last time, sending me over the edge of the falls.
‘Shift! we’ll heal faster in human form!’ Willow’s angry voice boomed in my mind.
Shifting as I fell, I braced for what lay below me. Panic flooding my system, God’s would I even survive this time?
The second I hit the water, Pain erupted across my body. I could feel a couple of bones crack. The impact siphoning the air out of my body as I fought to stay above water.
Sinking further below the Falls as the water crashed above me, I struggled to swim to the surface.
Every movement sent a shock of immense pain radiating from my ribs. The pain completely immobilizing me. I was struggling to hold my breath through the pain. My body was being thrashed around from the under-current of the waterfall. Pushed one direction as I fought to go up and then pulled back down, This time I felt as my head collided with a rock.
My vision began to blur, the last of my breath slipping out before everything went black.
