Chapter 48 James

Chapter 48 – James

I

can’t handle this not knowing! Why hasn’t she made her decision yet?” Jack cries out, pacing our hotel room.

“You know why, son. We f ucked up. Badly, Father says. That is a newer development for him. My father never used to curse. He said that it was a sign of inferior intellect. But with everything that happened with Oakley, he’s picked it up. It seems to have gone along with his depression.

Father barely talks anymore. He barely leaves the room, even when Jack and I go for runs or go to the gym. He only eats

when we force him to. It’s gotten really bad and we don’t quite know how to handle it.

7know, but she should know us better! We came for her! She knows that everything that happened after she found out

Levi was her mate was because of the spell from Selene. We love her. She has to know that! Right?” Jack is so insistent that

Oakley will come back to us, but that doesn’t seem to be what’s going to happen. And he can’t accept that.

Neither Father nor I respond to Jack, though it’s not like he really seems to want one…

Honestly, I only wish for Oakley to decide to see us so that I can apologize. I know that she isn’t coming back. No matter if she can accept our apology, she would never be able to forget. And that’s what she would need to do in order to move back home.

She’d have to forget about the way that we treated her, the awful way that we spoke to her, the things that we allowed to happen to her in order to have any type of normal life any where near us. If it were me, I wouldn’t be able to do it. And no matter

how much of an angel Oakley really is, I know that she won’t be able to either.

“I know! We should sneak into the castle and see Oakley!” Jack cries out, coming to stand in front of us.

Father just grabs the remote from the bedside table and turns the TV on, listlessly fl*pping through the channels.

Troll my eyes at Jack. “And how to you expect us to be able to to do that? Just waltz right in?

“No, idiot! I said sneak in!” It’s Jack’s turn to roll his eyes this time. “I staked out the castle for days waiting for you guys. They’re expecting a food shipment today. We go in and buy off two of the workers and take their place to get into the castle. They have like ten guys because of the amount of food that they need. They won’t notice if we go in with them and then disappear for a bit to find Oakley. We can convince her to come back with us.”

“I don’t know, man. I don’t think she’ll want to talk to us,” I respond

“Would you just go along

gwith it for o

once? It’s like you don’t want to see her, Jack growls out.

And I think about it. This could very well be our last time I see Oakley, especially if she doesn’t plan on talking to Levi. I don’t

think that we’ll be able to say anything to convince her to come with us. The only reason that I will go is to say goodbye.

that’s what I’m going to do.

“Alright, I agree. “Let’s go.”

Father doesn’t come with us. He barely even looks away from the TV when we tell him what we’re going to do.

Jack drives us to the company that delivers food to the castle. We wait outside until we see the two guys that he has in mind and we pay them $200 each to f uck off for the day. They give us their uniforms, which are admittedly a bit snug, since Jack and I are both warriors and have a lot more bulk on us then they do, and walk up to the shift manager that the two guys pointed b

“I didn’t get any notification that you two were coming on shift for today. Have you passed the background checks and everything?” the guy says, looking through the paperwork on his cl*pboard.

“Look sir, I don’t know what to tell you. George in HR told us to show up today at this time and to find you, so that’s what we did. We don’t handle paperwork, he does. If you got enough guys, we’ll go home,” Jack says and turns, pushing my shoulder sol come with him. Really? We went through all this and lost $400 just to stop here? Whatever. It was a shot in the dark anyway,!

guess.

nanager calls out to us. “Wait! I need you guys. Just, climb in and we’ll have to sort it out later.”

But the shift manager

Jack shoots me a co cky grin and then turns around. “Alright man. We’re on.”

We both grab a couple of stacked boxes and head toward the delivery truck.

Once we get to the castle, Jack and I sl*p away and pull off the uniforms we got from the real guys, our regular clothes underneath.

“This way,” Jack says, leading me from the kitchen area towards the main buildings.

“How do you know where she’s going to be? Or even which way to go to get out of here?” Lask.

“This place is a national landmark. Most of the layout is online. I just memorized everything and planned my route to get here while you were in the shower,” he says, like it’s the most logical thing in the world.

I follow Jack through narrow paths and back alleys, mostly places where people who work at the castle would go. There is

no way this is widely available to the public, but this is his co ckamamie plan, so I just go along with it. What’s the worst thing that’ll happen, a little jail time? We deserve it after everything that we put our sister through.

Eventually, we come out by the prison area and that’s where we see her. Our beautiful sister has filled out a lot, with muscle

and confidence. She’s arguing with another she-wolf that oddly has a lot of her features

See Jack and I look more like our father, but Oakley is all our mother and this girl, from her looks, could definitely be related

to Oakley. Both have honey blonde hair, golden tanned skinned, full-bodied silhouettes, and full l*ps. Even their face shape is the

same. It’s…weird.

Jack and I both stop, knowing that if this other chick sees us, we could be in deep sh it. Oakley is the only one that we came

to see. Anyone else will get us in trouble w

the guard and that’s not exactly part of Jack’s plan. And, though I said we deserve to go to jail, I’m not exactly running into a cell if I can help it.

When we first see Oakley, she’s just thrown the girl to the ground. She screams at her, “Stop wiggling or knock you out

and you can choose between your mates when you wake up!”

“I can’t choose! I won’t!” the girl screams back. She launches herself at Oakley and both Jack and I tense, preparing to jump

in to help our sister.

But before we can do anything, Oakley literally swats away the girl’s attack, open hand smacks the sh it out of her and tosses her back over her shoulder. She then takes the kicking and screaming girl down through the door into the cells.

Jack and I look at each other and he seems to realize how very much he has underestimated our sister.
