Chapter 16
Chapter 16 Mr. Dawson, Please Behave Yourself
Celia experienced an overwhelming sense of embarrassment and shame. She got down on all fours under the table and peered up at him.
Dominic glanced at her with narrowed eyes and then crouched down after taking a few steps closer to her.
“What are you doing down there?” he asked.
Before Celia could respond, he added, “Did you come to see the manager of this
restaurant?”
Celia remained silent.
She couldn’t help but be grateful that Tammy had run away at this point. Otherwise, the embarrassment would have been unbearable.
She nodded and replied, “Yes.”
Not far away, a group of people murmured suspiciously, “Mr. Dawson, What’s under the table?”
However, their position prevented them from seeing Celia.
Celia really didn’t want to go out there. It was one thing for the group to see her, but if Tammy suddenly came back, her secret of being a mother would be exposed.
Her resistance was evident on her face, prompting Dominic to lightly tap her head and say, “Just stay there.”
He drew the tablecloth back before Celia could react.
Once again, she heard the group’s voices fading away, but soon after, footsteps approached. It was Dominic.
“Come out,” his voice sounded from outside.
Celia cautiously peered out and surveyed her surroundings. There was no one out there because he had ordered everyone to leave.
Celia left the table and brushed off imaginary dust from her clothes. “Thank you. Well, maybe I should go now.”
In any case, she knew deep down that leaving was the right thing to do.

But as she started to take a step, Dominic grabbed her hand and yanked her back.
Celia was pulled into his embrace with the lightest of pulls.
Within a fraction of a second, he pinned her against the wall.
As Dominic cast his gaze downward, their lips came dangerously close to touching, looking very suggestive.
“I helped you in diverting their attention, and this is how you repay me?” the man exclaimed.
Celia found herself speechless, as she had been laying low precisely because of him.
But she had to go along with him if she wanted to keep her secret. “So, what do you want me to do to make up for it? You want me to keep saving your lover?” Dominic’s gaze became thoughtful as if he suddenly realized something. He asked, “Can you do the mechanical heart surgery you mentioned before now?”
Celia thought to herself, “He did it for Grace, again.”
“I’m willing to give it a shot, but I can’t guarantee its success. To be honest, the success rate is best at 20%,” she responded..
Dominic’s gaze dimmed slightly, and his voice took on a colder tone, “I need absolute success, you know, because I can’t let anything go wrong for her.”
Celia smiled and said, “I can’t promise that at the moment. I’m really sorry.”
Dominic didn’t appear to buy it. He probed further, “Is that really the case?”
“Of course. I never lie about that.”
Celia may have felt compelled to lie, perform additional surgical miracles, and eradicate Grace from existence if she loved Dominic.
But she didn’t have to do any of that because he was just her ex–husband. The truth was easy for her to tell because she wasn’t in love with him.
“Mr. Dawson, please let go of me,” Celia cautioned. Their proximity was too close and could give rise to inappropriate associations.
Dominic, however, bent down and planted a soft kiss on her lips. “If you can save her, you must let me know first.”

Celia showed an awkward smile. She no longer bothered cursing him in her mind and instead responded directly, “Sure.”
Dominic was very generous with his cash, so she’d take the money if she knew how to make Grace well again.
As for the kiss, she thought it wasn’t a big deal. There was no need for her to be shy about it, as they used to be a couple. She just hoped he wouldn’t go as far as he did last time.
However, she hadn’t realized before that Dominic seemed to enjoy harassing her
so much.
His gaze was unfathomable, but compared to his, her eyes were limpid and clear. Both of them felt content after they locked eyes.
“By the way, about the thing that happened the other day… It was my fault for being too hasty and not giving you enough space. I’ll be mindful of taking things. slowly, Dominic said.
Celia remained silent, wondering if there would be another instance like that.
“Mr. Dawson, please behave yourself. It would break Ms. Murphy’s heart if she knew you acted this way,” Celia said, pushing him away and turning to leave.
Dominic followed her silhouette as she walked away, his gaze growing intense.
Celia went to a private room and asked the waiter to bring Tammy there.
“When you see that man in the future, Tammy, you better stay away from him.” Celia said seriously.
Tammy blinked, puzzled, “Why? You’ve never warned me to avoid another mant like this before! I like him a lot.”
Celia asked in frustration, “Why do you like him? Is it just because his good
looks?”
Admittedly, Dominic was the most attractive man Celia had ever seen, and his appearance aligned with her taste. Moreover, she knew her daughter shared the
same taste in men.
Tammy blinked her eyes pleadingly and insisted, “It’s not just because he’s handsome! I genuinely like him, Mom. Please don’t do this to me.”
Celia firmly repeated, “No.”

Tammy stomped her foot and looked accusingly at Celia, saying, “You’re so mean, Mommy!”
Normally, Celia might have caved and agreed, but on this occasion, she resolutely refused, saying, “No way.”
Tammy had no other choice but to storm off in anger, but Celia wasn’t worried since she knew her daughter understood her intentions.
In the following days, the name Dominic slowly faded from their lives. The Burton family, however, incessantly urged Celia to return. Eventually, they even resorted to threats, mentioning her grandmother in the hospital.
Celia returned to the house late one afternoon after visiting with her grandmother.
The Burton family villa was still largely the same as it had been in the past. despite some renovations.
The servants rolled their eyes and ignored Celia as if she didn’t exist.
Nonetheless, Celia didn’t mind, as this was how the Burtons and their servants had treated her before.
Natalie sat on the couch in the living room, looking much thinner than the last time Celia had seen her.
Natalie fixed her sister with a fierce glare as if she were an enemy.
Bruce and his wife, Mia Burton, who were sitting face to face with Natalie, looked glum upon catching sight of Celia.
Bruce slammed his cane hard on the ground, demanding, “Get on your knees, you ungrateful idiot!”
Celia kept her stance and regarded them with indifference as she asked, “You want me to kneel down for you?”
“Was it you who caused the chaos at the wedding? Do you realize the trouble you’ve brought upon the Burton family?” Bruce seethed with anger.
Although he had taken Natalie away from the wedding to salvage her dignity, it didn’t mean he could accept the consequences. This incident permanently ruined any chance of a marriage between the Nelson and Burton families.
Celia admitted without hesitation, “Yes, it was me.
“Dad…” Natalie’s eyes were red, and it was evident that she had shed many tears.

Bruce glared at Celia with fury, “What more do you want to take from the Burton family? I will beat you to death today!”
However, before he could act on his threat, his cane suddenly halted the air halfway through its swing. A stern voice commanded, “Stop.”
As soon as people realized who it was, they all turned to Dominic in shock. No one was anticipating his arrival.
“Mr. Dawson, what brings you here?” the crowd, including Bruce, asked in confusion.
‘Aren’t you
and Celia divorced?”
Although Celia and Dominic’s divorce was not publicized, everyone within the family knew about it.
Everyone wanted to know why and how Dominic just happened to show up at this critical moment.
Even Celia was stunned. Although she was prepared to grab that cane, she wasn’t expecting him to appear out of nowhere.
