Chapter 17
Chapter 17 He Doesn’t Love You
Dominic glanced casually at the cane that was meant to strike Celia. “She belongs to me,” he said.
Bruce’s eyes widened in disbelief. “But, she..”
Dominic’s voice mellowed slightly, but he still used an authoritative tone, calling out, “Celia, come here.”
Celia didn’t want to go over there because she didn’t want to interact with. Dominic. However, his intense gaze and the watchful eyes of the Burton family compelled her.
The atmosphere grew tense. Celia was about to speak when she stopped and realized that Dominic was still staring at her.
Celia put on a fake smile and went over to Dominic’s side to diffuse the situation. With a soft voice, she asked, “Why did you come here?”
To which Dominic responded, “Your grandmother told me over the phone.”
“Only my grandmother knows I’m coming back home!” Celia thought to herself, shocked that her grandmother had Dominic’s phone number and even more surprised that he had actually come in person.
She was curious about his intentions for coming here.
They were conversing in a low voice that could only be heard by the two of them, almost like a private whisper.
Bruce was completely caught off guard by this situation.
Natalie clenched her teeth and couldn’t help but repeat Bruce’s question, “Didn’t you already divorce? Why…”
Mia, who had been silent, abruptly spoke softly, “Celia, you should have told us. in advance that Mr. Dawson would come here.”
Natalie’s eyes widened in disbelief at her mother’s change of stance, but she quickly deduced the reason behind Mia’s sudden shift.
Natalie gave Celia an irritated glance before turning her back and remaining
silent.
Bruce immediately changed his attitude toward Celia as well. “Sorry that we were

too harsh on you earlier. What you did was actually for Natalie’s benefit. Carl is indeed a terrible person,” he said, glancing at Natalie after finishing his words.
Reluctantly, Natalie uttered, “Celia, thank you for saving me at the wedding.” Her words sounded almost through gritted teeth.
Celia understood the underlying reason behind the Burton family’s sudden change in attitude: it was all because of the man beside her. Compared to the Dawson and Nelson families, they naturally favored the former. Furthermore, they knew that it was highly unlikely for anyone from their family to marry the Nelsons again.
Dominic didn’t reply, but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of the Burton family.
The experience of visiting the Burton family turned out to be much smoother and easier than Celia had anticipated. After dining with her family, she and Dominic left.
“You’re welcome at my house at any time,” Mia enthused.
Celia didn’t waste her time on Mia, the hypocrite.
Once they left the Burton household, Celia purposefully distanced herself from Dominic and asked, “Is there something you want me to do for you in return this time?”
Dominic asked after he glanced at her, “What request?”
“As long as it’s within reason,” Celia paused for a moment before adding, “I’ll consider it.”
Dominic stared at her lips and said seriously, “I want you to kiss me.”
Celia was taken aback to the point where she questioned whether or not she had heard him wrong. She couldn’t comprehend why he would boldly make such a
request.
Dominic wasn’t joking, as evidenced by the seriousness in his eyes.
Celia found herself speechless as she reminded him, “Would Grace really be okay with this?”
Dominic didn’t answer. Instead, he leaned in and kissed her.
Celia’s eyes widened in surprise, and she forgot about her struggle for a moment. He closed his eyes as if savoring the taste of a long–lost delicacy that he was

finally able to experience again.
Suddenly, they heard the sound of a camera shutter nearby, capturing the
moment.
As soon as Celia realized something was wrong. Dominic let go of her.
However, the person who took the picture promptly fled.
“I’ll handle it,” Dominic assured. He then instructed his bodyguards to catch the
man.
Celia pretended not to hear. She didn’t care about her reputation, so she didn’t. care about this little accident as much as he did.
“I have to go.” Celia said and was ready to leave.
Dominic quickly grabbed her hand.
Celia looked at him suspiciously and asked. “Is there something else?”
“Come home with me,” he proposed.
Celia was taken aback, and she wondered, “Is he drunk? What does he mean?
Celia rolled her eyes. She finally understood what he meant when she recalled what they hadn’t finished the last time they were together. “Are you trying to sleep with me?” Asked she.
Dominic agreed.
Celia asked, “What about Grace? Why does it have to be me?”
“I’m accustomed to being with you,” he responded.
“Have your habits not changed in the past six years? Haven’t you slept with anyone else during that time?” Celia looked at him incredulously.
Dominic remained silent this time, gazing deeply at Celia, making her feel like he really hadn’t been with any other woman in those six years.
But she knew this couldn’t be true, especially with Grace’s son standing as such solid proof. Dominic was not shy about physical intimacy, so Celia thought it was highly improbable that he had gone without it for so long.
Celia felt foolish for asking such a question.
“I’ve got plans later, so I have to go.” Celia said, then got rid of him easily.

She entered her car and swiftly drove away.
Dominic stared off into the distance, his voice barely audible as he muttered to himself, “It’s true.”
Dominic couldn’t believe it. He hadn’t been interested in engaging in sexual activities for the past six years, but that desire reawakened within him the moment he saw her.
He cast a narrow glare in her direction. She ruined that wedding today, so when her grandmother called to invite him to the Burton family, he went straight to her house to protect her.
“Maybe Celia had put a spell on me,” he thought.
The Burton family repeatedly called Celia in the following days, expressing their desire to work with the Dawsons. Celia declined their offers and eventually
stopped picking up the phone when they called.
One day, a mysterious number called Celia. Celia debated whether or not to answer the call at first but ultimately decided to do so.
She had intended to confront the Burton family and clarify matters, but on the other end of the line, she heard Grace’s voice say, “Are you Celia? I would like to have a talk with you.”
Although Grace’s voice sounded gentle, her words conveyed unmistakable arrogance and pride, which somewhat amused Celia. “Are you interested in discussing your medical condition?” Celia asked.
There was a brief moment of silence on the other end of the phone, and then Grace’s tone softened slightly as she continued, “I just feel that there are certain things that we girlss need to clarify, especially concerning Dominic.”
“There is nothing for us to talk about,” Celia replied firmly. “I’m about to hang.
up.”
“Wait,” Grace hastily interjected. “There are some things that I feel I need to say, even if I don’t want to go into too much detail. But if I don’t say it, you may not fully understand.”
Grace didn’t come right out and say it..
Celia let out a chuckle. Just be honest and open. Do you really want me to make

your surgery more complicated than it already is??”
She alluded to the possibility of increased risks and dangers if the complexity of the surgery were to increase.
Grace’s complexion turned pale after hearing that. However, because Celia was able to treat her illness, Grace tool
a few deep breaths and softly asked, “Celia, can you please leave Dominic alone?”
“I saw the photo of you two kissing. But, Dominic requested that it be deleted. and not made public. Can’t you see what he’s saying?”
“Perhaps he kissed you on the spur of the moment, but he doesn’t even have feelings for you. I’m the one who’s been there for him all these years, and he’s willing to let everyone know about our relationship.”
The smile in Celia’s eyes had quickly faded.
She was aware of it, and she always had been.
