Chapter 59

Chapter 59: To Trap An Alpha

*Riley*

I felt like I had fallen out of a tree, hit a rock, and then rolled into a river, and then started bouncing on top of the waves. I knew I had to open my eyes, but I didn’t want to throw up and I wanted to check out my surroundings before alerting anyone that I was up.

Cracking open my eyes and looked around the room, when I saw I was alone I opened my eyes fully. It hurt to use my eyes, my head was pounding and the light was making it worse. I wasn’t going to be sick. which was good.

I looked around the room and didn’t recognize anything. This wasn’t good, where was I?

Then I remembered, I had chased after someone, no, not someone but Mya. She did this to me. Was she working with the hunters? Of course, she had to be, why else would I be here?

I tried to mind link with Nicolas but there was a block. Each time I reached out I felt a thud in my head, it increased my headache and jarred my jaw.

Why wasn’t it working? I tried my super hearing next and again, a thud, a pain, and no super hearing.

“What the hell?” I groaned. I tried to sit up but something stopped me. That’s when I saw the rope bound on my arms. I checked my other arm. and don’t know why I was surprised to find it bound to. I raised my legs to find them bound as well.

I wanted to panic but I knew it wouldn’t help. I had been in some s h i t before, but this was a whole other level. I couldn’t link with anyone, I left in the middle of the night and I had no idea where I was. Did anyone even know that I was missing yet? Oh, did anyone tell Nicolas I was missing? He was going to be furious.

I almost pitied whoever took me now.

“Hello!” I yelled. I regretted it the moment I yelled, that didn’t help my headache.

I had to take a few deep breaths. What the hell did Mya give me?

Once the pain settled enough for me to think again. I tried to work on the ropes on my arms. I couldn’t arch my back enough to use my mouth. and the knots were too tight for me to wiggle my wrist. I felt weak and I tried out quickly.

Groaning I lay back down, seeing as I had no choice but to wait.

I tried the mind link and wished I didn’t.

I was still reeling from the pain when the door opened, preventing me

from acting like I was sleeping.

I locked eyes would my capture who sported a c**y smile, his eyes. were cold and yet I could easily read how pleased he was by my capture.

I hid my expression from him, masking myself until I knew what he wanted. I looked around him but it was only him. Mya was nowhere to be seen.

“Oh, good. I hate when my captures pretend to be sleeping. Who falls for that?” he mocked. He came around so I could fully see him. He took pleasure in my powerless state.

“Who are the hell are you?” I growled at him. He wasn’t phased.

“Mmm, you can speak. I guess the wolfbane should have been a higher dose. I’ll be sure to let Mya know for next time,” he said.

Wolfbane, of course, that’s why trying to mind link was like running

“But to answer your question, I’m Malik, but most call me the Hunter King,” he said.

“You speak as if I’m supposed to be impressed by your weak title,” I snapped.

“Weak and yet I managed to capture you,” he smirked.

“You used trickery. Using Mya, having her pretend to be my friend, gain my trust just to end up betraying me. I can’t help but wonder who hurt you that you’d send a girl to do your dirty work?” I said, trying to get him to talk.

Hed:

He didn’t seem to like what I said, and for a second his expression showed it. That was interesting.

“Mya is a good girl, isn’t she? From the first moment I met her I knew she had a way with people, it’s a gift really but with someone who is so starved for a friend, it was more like child’s play. Even in those moments when you questioned why she was so interested in your relationship with Nicolas, you did confide in her. A true wolf would have trusted her instincts,” he laughed.

I fought against my restraints but it was pointless.

“Keep putting up a fight little wolf, I long to see his face when he realizes you’ve been tied up like the wild dog that you are,”

“Who are you talking about? You and your monster killed my father!” I yelled.

He laughed in my face and enraged me more.

“Oh, little sweet defenseless wolf, it’s not your father I want to come

crawling. I want someone with more worth than that,” he said.

The only one I could think of was Nicolas but if he wanted him why would he attack the Evermane, he had cut them off because of what they did to me. If he wanted him he would have attacked us at the palace. It didn’t make sense.

“Still confused?” He said walking over to stand beside me. I never felt so small looking up at him.

“Those in Evermane don’t mean anything to me, all of their lives are worthless. So if you thought of Nicolas, then bingo we have a winner. Let’s see how long it’ll take him to come find me,” he snarled.

My heart jumped. Of course, he was waiting for Nicolas and I was an easier target.

D a m n it. I was going to lead him right into a trap.
