Chapter 60 Unfriendly Chat

*Riley*

I continued to mask my thoughts and even tried a chuckle. “I understand you now and here I bet you were so smart.” I said. He seemed like a talker, maybe I could use that to gain information and give Nicolas more time. He had to find me and since I wasn’t getting free on my own, this was my only plan.

He seemed amused and pulled up a sent and threw his legs up on the bed I was tied to. Good, he took the bait. What could I say to keep him here though. I usually p** people off until they storm off, or beat me up, but that was the old me, I was a Lama now and thanks to my wolf, I wasn’t even alone anymore.

“And what do you understand, Little One,” he asked and I hated all hist

names for me.

“As I said before, your inability to get Nicolas on your own had you using Mya to prey on a broken girl. How pathetic,” I spat at him. He snarled his lip and me but remained in his chair.

I tried to mind link with Nicolas again, but the wolfbane was loo strong. I needed to get more of

ou though I had a feeling he wouldn’t hurt me.

“Why me? You could have had Mya befriend anyone,” I said.

“Don’t play coy, it doesn’t become you. It had to be you, you are the only person that Nicolas would come running for,” he said.

“A s**e is hardly worth all the trouble,” I said, trying to downplay

who I was.

He smirked and c**d his head at me.

“I said, don’t p**y and how dare you insult your friend. I can see why it was so easy for her to betray you,” he said.

I glared at him.

“I know exactly who you are, so let’s not beat around the brush. Mya is very good at what she does and wouldn’t dare disappoint me,” he added.

“Disappoint you? What have you done with her?” I asked. I was hurt that she used me but she couldn’t have been faking the whole time. I needed to talk with her, to understand why she did this.

“She’s none of your concern. All you have to do is lay there and look sad and distraught while I wait for your lover to find you.”

“I can’t wait for him to show up. I’ll enjoy watching him kill you, you coward. You attacked the Evermane to try and draw us out. You knew, that even with a tribe he had withdrawn his approval for would get hist attention if the damage was bad enough. You wouldn’t risk attacking him at the palace. That would be a battle you’d lose and you know,”

He finally dropped his legs and stood to tower over me again, but I wasn’t intimidated by him.

“Once you had us away from the palace you then had to get me alone. How weak of a king are you that you will only challenge him on your terms? You should give up now, release me, and try to save what little. face you can with your followers,” I said. I didn’t know what I was trying to do, but if I could learn anything that could help Nicolas not fall into this trap I had to try.

I was slowly gaining strength, my answer towards this man working at counteracting the wolfsbane, perhaps I could link with Nicolas if I kept him talking.

“You are smarter than you look, Wolfy,” he snarled.

“My name is Riley, not Wolfy, Little Wolf Riley,” I snapped.

“Your name is irrelevant, all I need from you I already have thanks to Mya. You are his mate, either by choice or my fate but it doesn’t matter. As long as you are important to him, he will come and I will finally get what I’ve been longing for all these years,” he said.

“I already told you, I am just one of many. Your precious Mya gave you the wrong intel. He favors me over the others yes, but mate? You give me charms I’ve yet to earn. If he comes it will be because you attacked a group he was trying to teach a lesson to,” I tried to deflect. For the first time, he looked at me unsure. He had such high praise for Mya perhaps I could turn him against her, or at the very least buy myself time. That’s all I needed, was more time for Nicolas to try and find me or for the wolfsbane to wear ofl.

“You can speak whatever riddles you want but Mya knows not to fail me. You are his mate and I’ll be eagerly waiting for him. Time will tell,” he says then exits the room.

I fought against my restraints, I needed to warm Nicolas but I couldn’t break free.

It was pointless to try to use the mind link, I didn’t want to waste what little bit of strength I had on that. I needed to conserve my energy for what lies ahead. There was going to be a battle and I had to be ready. I just hoped Nicolas knew what he was walking into. I didn’t know his odds but I’ve learned to always bet on him. He had proven to me that without a doubt I was important to him. I knew he would come and he

would give this hunter-king hell when he does.
