Chapter 17
“Aw...baby girl...you know it’s going to be okay.” Charlie planted her soft hand against her weeping daughters hair. She tried to console her as much as she could but the truth was, she couldn’t do anything for her.
“It won’t! I don’t understand... I’ve done everything! I don’t get why this has to happen! He doesn’t even care!” Caroline gripped her mom’s thighs and pressed her face harder into them. It’s been a couple of weeks since she last spoken to him. He held himself up in his room and hasn’t come out since and everyone seems to be worried.
“I wish I wasn’t crying over him but I am and its stupid!” She whined and lifted her head wiping her tears.
“Caroline…” She heard her father’s voice and looked at him. She groaned and glared at him.
“You can’t say I haven’t tried! No matter what I say to you-you always defend him! Saying the same thing over and over again! Truth is dad. He. Doesn’t. Care!” She threw one of her moms beside pillows at him and he caught it.
“You can’t talk about something you don’t understand.”
“How can you say that even though that’s all I’ve been trying to do!
“Archie shook his head and sat beside her.
“You don’t get it. He is...scarred. He’s damaged and it affects people differently. His damage is...worse then people could think. He is the only one who could tell it. And if he doesn’t then that’s him. But you can’t be angry if he doesn’t want to. He’s had it rough.”
“You say the same thing every time... I just...i don’t get it. He should be able to tell me because I’m his! Oh my god.” She pushed her hands to her face and stood up.
“Just forget I ever came to you.” Charlie grabbed onto Caroline’s hand.
“He is right, you know.” She yelled in frustration and shook her head.
“I just...Ugh, I’m going to my room to get ready.” She stated sternly and walked out of their room. She walked into her room and plopped herself on the bed.
“Fuck!” She yelled out and grabbed her pillows. She glanced across her room to look at a box. Her heat was coming pretty soon and she had asked her dad and Jughead to grab some items from Destroyer that she could lay with.
She didn’t want to see him, talk to him, or even think about it. She felt horrible for walking away from him, but felt angry that he didn’t even try to come after her and is still held up in his room doing god knows what.
She looked at her watch as it counted down. One hour. She let out a t=sorrowful sigh and sat up opening the box. It was some of his shirt, sweatpants, and boxers. She didn’t make it clear that she only needed a shirt or two but they got a lot.
She sifted through them and could already feel her heart racing at the thought of having them on. She breathed gently and closed the box. She pushed her hand into her hair and dropped it. She grabbed the box and threw it onto her bed. Taking her shirt off she threw it into her dirty clothes basket and did the rest with her clothes going to her shower.
She waited a couple of seconds before hopping in and rubbing her face. She groaned and felt her eyes water once more. She tried to sniff them say but they feel anyway and mixed in with the shower water.
’How could I be so stupid.’ Her hair curled and dropped on her back. The curls on her back went down to her middle back. Her cheeks had turned slightly pink and she couldn’t count how long she was in the shower. When she stopped crying was when she finally started to shower properly.
She walked out and looked at the box. She shook her head and place on some sweatpants and an extra large sweatshirt. She checked her watch and sighed. She went back into her bathroom and pulled out her hair gel. Using her cloth scrunchie she pulled her hair back into a high puff bun.
When walking out she heard a knock at her door. Groaning gently she opened it.
“I said for no one to- Destroyer?” She gripped the door tightly as she opened it and looked at him. Immediately she reacted and tried not to show it. He didn’t say any words, but walked inside and paced.
“Listen, you really can’t be in here...I don’t think its a good idea and its-”
“I’m sorry.” He stated in the middle of her sentence.
“Sorry…?” She asked and forgot about what she was saying.
“I am so sorry. For hurting you. Pushing you away...thinking it was okay but it wasn’t. I know it took me a little bit to think this over. Then when I saw you leave I didn’t… didn’t know what to do. I’ve lied to you. So many times. I thought it would help but love...I’ve done horrible things and I’m so sorry. There are no words I can express my apology to you.”
“Destroyer...i will talk to you about this apology but you really have to leave…” She stated and soon her vision focused on him quickly. Everything but him was blurred out in her mind.
“Is...something wrong?” He walked up to her and placed his hands on her shoulders. His hands made her shiver and slumped her legs falling into gently.
“What’s going on?” She suddenly moved and shook her head staring at him.
“You don’t...feel that? Smell that?” She asked and held onto his arms.
“Well...you are in heat but that doesn’t bother me. Do you want me to leave?” He asked. Her mind officially took over for her and she nodded. She wrapped her arms around him and squeeze him.
“Oh...my..apology?”
“Mhm….mhm…” She hummed into him and he glanced around. This was a good moment for him to gain her trust back. To make his apology be more real. He bent down gently and placed his arms under her and picked her up. She squealed gently and kept her grip onto him”.
“Wait...i don’t-”
“I know, I won’t.” He hummed to her. He could admit that she smelt different and it was so good.
Caroline couldn’t believe it. This was her first heat and it wasn’t bad. All the stories told her that it was the worst thing until you were intimate. It wasn’t. She just wanted him. She just wanted to touch him and hold him. Just to get contact with him and her pain wasn’t at all bad.
“Why is this so different?” She asked into his shirt as he moved his hand against her back.
“Everything’s different. I’m not...normal.” He told her and she shook her head.
“You said you were sorry...Do you mean it?” She lifted her head and caught him looking up. She was on top of his body as he laid on her bed.
“I do. I’ll tell you more when you’re sober.” He hummed into her neck and closed his eyes.
It wasn’t long before the other side effects of being in heat started to rise. She shifted her body and looked at his face. She had seen colors in the form of a scent. They were green and it was like a small cigaret cloud freshly blown.
She wrapped her legs around his and moved her hands upon his torso.
“This...is so different...It doesn’t hurt. I’m...I just want you.”
“I know. Its different isn’t it.” He held onto her and sniffed her hair. She smelled like a flower and he did have to admit. Even if it wasn’t affecting her like a regular wolf, he had every affect the other would have, but n this case he knew how to control himself.
He felt her temperature rise, which was usually always a bad sign, and lifted them both up.
“What are you doing?” She asked in a tired feverish breath.
“You’re heating up and that’s not good.” He told her and walked over to her bathroom sitting down on the tub side.
“I’m gonna put you in cold water okay?” He looked at her and rubbed her face. By this time it was hard for her to keep words up and behave.
He turned on the bathtub water and waited then slowly began to undress her.
“I can’t..” She whimpered and slightly opened her eyes. Gripping Destroyers hand she pushed it down.
“I’m not placing you into the bathtub fully clothed. It’s not healthy.” He told her and kept going. Caroline kept her eyes onto his and watched as he gently undressed her.
He moved over and slipped her into the bath water causing her to shiver and hold her arms to her chest. He watched as she seemed to get comfortable and tried not to stare. He only sat beside her tub and looked around. He needed to do something. He needed to do more other than sitting with her while she was in heat and a verbal apology. She deserves something better.
He heard the water splash gently and her hand grabbed his.“I’m sorry...I’m sorry for not understanding.” She told him in a slurred style of speech. “Don’t be, its okay. You meant no harm.” He kissed her hand and watched as she sunk back into the water. He was going to make her happy. Even at the expense of his happiness.
