Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1348

Trevor propped his head in his hand after popping a couple of aspirins in the study, still livid with rage. Back in the quiet bedroom, Victoria kept her lips tightly pursed, similarly outraged.

Ignoring her again?

A few words, and he was already upset? Hello, she should be the one angry!

After glaring blankly at the door for a long while, she gave up, grabbing a set of pajamas before entering the shower. After she came out, she slumped into the bed and went to sleep. Trevor didn't return to the bedroom that night, spacing out in his study until late at night. Victoria, on the other hand, tossed and turned, having a hard time falling asleep.

As predicted, Trevor took a trip to the hospital again early that morning, this time to get some gastric pills. In his memory, the last time his gastric problem was this severe was from all the drinking he had during several back-to-back business engagements. Thinking of the woman who had him seething with fury, he couldn't help feeling deeply troubled.

He had been dragging his days in the hospital all because he loved the attention he got from her, only wanting the moment to last longer. But who'd thought things ended up so chaotic. He'd be lying if he wasn't irritated, but despite the physical pain, he felt inexplicably relaxed.

It had only been a few days since he last came to work, but there were already mountains of files for him to go through. Worst, his secretary began reminding him of the various meetings and engagements he had to attend the moment he entered his office. "Alright, got it. One thing at a time! External first; anything in-house can be dealt with later!"

Trevor was so busy that day that he barely even had time for a sip of water; already five in the evening by the time he returned to his office. He checked his phone to find only one new message, and it was from Selena, asking about his gastric problem.

His heart felt heavy as he held his phone, the scale within him tipping again. She sure was a heartless one! Could this be a sign from the heavens? That he could never have the best of both worlds!

If Selena wasn't his cousin, or that this text was from her, he'd definitely be happy, wouldn't he?

After sighing helplessly, he replied to Selena, reminding her to take care of herself, and ended things there. Just then, Holger came in with a file.

"Trevor, the acquisition proposal for Candice Cultural Corp. A few companies have been negotiating with them, all thinking of buying them over. It's a rather old website, after all, so they're still rather popular. Though things have gone downhill for them because of poor management, they still have a degree of appeal and loyal clients! TV, movies, and web novels are hot right now. I think Candice Cultural Corp, still wants to put up a last-ditch effort. Mr. Henwick probably still wishes to retain its existence! So he's still wavering between selling the company and pulling in partners and resources. But the other companies all want to take the opportunity to annex it!"

He handed Trevor the file as he reported.

"This is the rough bidding of the other companies. When two dogs fight for a bone, the third will run away with it. If we all raise the bidding, Candice Cultural Corp, will end up the biggest winner! Dixon Henwick has just returned to Barrington City. Lanes and I have arranged to meet up with him tomorrow; we'll book the flight in a bit! What say you? Should we just take it down this time?"

Holger began searching for flight information as he continued reporting.

While flipping through the papers, Trevor suddenly looked up. "I'll go with you guys! Tonight's flight!"

He could use some distraction now, cool down while he was at it, lest he returns home only to end up in the hospital with rage!

"Sorry? Do you need to this time? The price might go up a few notches if you go with us!" He was regarded as the industry's compass; everyone would fight to the death as soon as he moved!

"I honestly don't really care if we managed to take Candice Cultural Corp, for ourselves! Just like the celebrities, this industry is also on a roller coaster ride, full of ups and downs, most fame lasting only a few years! So, don't look down on humble businesses, but no need regard these so-called notable-

companies so highly either net

Past

glories don't mean anything. If they could, they wouldn't be where they are today! Then again, a company with a glorious past definitely has its differences. Candice Cultural Corp's fall is mainly caused by internal fights and overlooking the external bigger picture. Their brief standstill also led to a major fallback, hence, ending up killing themselves! But their failed management didn't affect the company's direction and decisions. So I think having a chat with Mr. Henwick will be far more interesting than buying out the company!"

So it wasn't so important how the price fluctuated or if they managed to buy the company. It didn't matter if they had to put in a little extra as long as it was worth it. Nothing would come if nothing were as a matter

invested. If anything, it

of a couple more years of

investment!

"Got it! I'll get to it right away..."

Meanwhile, Victoria had been in a horrible mood that day. Her brain was completely empty; having trouble sketching for the first time. She hadn't even drawn a line the entire day; however, did check her phone countless times, typing and deleting her text multiple times. Absolutely frustrated, she went straight back home at noon.

She hadn't just been angry this time, having reflected seriously on herself in the meantime. Hence, she returned home with two fresh salmon.

It was because she suddenly remembered hearing the maids say he loved salmon chowder back in Grandma's. That day, the maids feared being punished because the fish died, and she embarrassingly screamed in fear because it was still in its last breaths.

In actuality, she had never forgotten about it, even already learning in secret. She had wanted to surprise him after she succeeded, but too bad things didn't go according to plan. Who'd thought they'd fallen out before she could even succeed.

As the thought popped into her

head, she thought it was a perfect opportunity to try it again, seeing she had been depressed all day. She couldn't become a Micheline- star chef overnight, but it didn't mean she couldn't even come up with a specialty, right? Unless she wanted to watch as a certain someone

fawned at her man.

After much deliberation, she threw herself into the kitchen right after entering the door.

However, she still didn't dare put a knife to the fish after staring at it for a long time, taking a step back in fright as she suddenly drifted her gaze to its eye. Her heart pounded wildly, gagging in disgust even. In the end, she looked away and put her hands together, praying.

"Please don't look at me. Please don't look at me... Don't reincarnate into another fish, and no one will slaughter or eat you. Jesus Christ, Mother Mary..."

Just like that, she cooped up in the kitchen the entire afternoon, fighting two dead fishes. Alas, finally, she gritted her teeth and reached her hand out to them.

"Alright, I shouldn't have been so petty to argue with a patient and say such horrible words. I can make up for all that with fish chowder, can't I?" Victoria gestured with a knife as she mumbled. However, she didn't realize she was gradually changing for a man she loathed...
