Be Your Lover Forever (Alicia)

Chapter 1349

The few days following that, Victoria spent hours cooped up in the kitchen after work. However, unprecedentedly, Trevor never came back, never even leaving a message.

And unexpectedly, she spent nearly every night in depression and insomnia.

It was already past one that day, but Victoria still wasn't the slightest sleepy, so she checked her phone for a while before sitting up, letting out a long sigh.

"What has gotten into me?"

Was that woman such a taboo? Could she not even criticize her, and now he wouldn't come home just because she did?

Victoria frowned as she hugged her knees, leaning one cheek against them. "So what if he doesn't come back? Why should I be so bothered? Good that he won't come home; at least no one will give me the attitude!" But just as she tilted her head, she couldn't help sighing again!

Not feeling like herself anymore, Victoria ruffled her hair, lifted the comforter, and got out of bed to down a glass of wine before climbing back in.

"Is he busy with engagements? Is he drinking? I hope his gastric has alleviated."

Realizing what she was mumbling, she rolled her eyes, disdainful of herself. "I must be possessed!"

With that, she pounded her head and shut her eyes.

Meanwhile, in Barrington City, though Trevor had been swamped with work, his days had been relatively simpler.

Like the days before, it was already past eleven when he and Holger returned to the hotel, but they still had a chat before taking their rest.

"Do you remember the name of that old holistic doctor they were talking about? They said he specializes in curing intractable diseases and has cured many people of their rare illnesses, right? Say, do you think he can do something about Selena's illness? Don't people always say the best is hidden amongst society? These low-key, altruistic, and reputable old doctors sure deserve all the respect they get; I'd really like to meet him!"

Speaking with a hint of rare excitement, Trevor made some tea in the meantime, thinking it'd help sober up.

"Do you think I should have Selena come over? If we manage to find and consult him by chance, he'd still need to take a look, won't he? I really think it's better if she's around..."

At least it wouldn't be a missed opportunity!

From how they put it, the drugs the old doctor used were mostly unconventional; none could be found in just any drugstore nor distinguishable. He genuinely seemed to have a trick or two up his sleeves. What was more, a client's wife had been troubled with psoriasis for years and could never fully get rid of it, but the old doctor managed to cure her with alternative medicine, and it had never relapsed for three years. Hearing that, Trevor suddenly thought he had found hope.

Holger couldn't help feeling surprised, sensing the change in his attitude from his tone. "Trevor, you seem to be very close with Se- Miss Selena lately! You won't stop talking about her!"

Hadn't it always been a touchy subject? Why the sudden change?

"Have I? Maybe because she's been asking how I'm doing with my recovery lately that we talked a little more!" At the thought of that, Trevor's heart felt stuffy.

Unlike that heartless one!

Still partially upset, Trevor spoke up for fear he couldn't keep his calm composure if Holger mentioned Victoria.

"Do you think what they said is believable?"

If anything, he wouldn't be a conman, right?

"I mean, no harm trying! But Trevor, we're in Barrington City. Are you sure you want Miss Selena to come over?" Heavens, they weren't in Casterwich City. Though they weren't exactly alone, he still didn't think it was still a good idea given Trevor's relationship with Selena and the past they shared.

"That means we can't go back, for the time being, can we?"

A hint of uneasiness flashed across Holger's face, wanting nothing to do with her deep down.

However, Trevor inadvertently caught it, and he paused his gaze at Holger for a split second when the scene he saw on the hospital's balcony flashed across his mind.

"It's just for a couple of days. Take it as a break! I just hope she can live normally and not suffer so much for the rest of her life!"

His attitude though....

Could there really be something between him and Selena?

The pathetic always acted insufferably somehow.

Holger twitched his lips a little but chose to take a sip of his tea to keep his mouth shut in the end.

"Go and ask about the doctor tomorrow. Best if he can consult Selena while we're still here!" It would be a relief in disguise for him if she could get better!

The house was enveloped in an indescribable desolation and coldness when Victoria returned home after spending a foggy day outside.

After standing mindlessly at the door to their bedroom for some time, she walked in with low spirits and flopped onto the bed without even changing her clothes. "I'm so bored..."

Why did she feel so bored?

Shooting up, she couldn't help rolling her eyes. Could it be that she had masochistic tendencies, upset that no one was around to argue with her?

But her heart felt empty yet stuffy right then, emptily stuffy!

It was their first time having such a major fall out, wasn't it? He had never been like this in the past!

"F*ck that jinx!" What an upsetting first meeting; how vexing!

Just then, her phone lit up, slightly stumped when she checked it. "Caroline?"

Why had she suddenly decided to call?

"Shh... Victoria, are you free to talk now? Is Trevor next to you?"

Hearing she was all secretive, Victoria couldn't help but burst out laughing. "Haha, why? Are you looking for me or for your big brother? I'm alone at home, just got back. I'm pretty much free!"

It was a common belief that the rich and powerful took great importance to progeny, and son preference was a norm. Then again, it didn't seem to be the case for the Clements, not evidently at least, even pampering daughters a little more, and Caroline was definitely the baby of their generation!

Deep down, she envied her innocence and romanticism. She had a family who adored her and a prodigious older cousin who treated her like his own sister. Thus, she had always been well shielded, resulting in her angelic temperament.

However, she seemed to fear Frederick, always acting like a mouse meeting a cat. On the other hand, Trevor had a close relationship with Frederick, so she'd also keep a lot of things from him, even keeping a lookout at times! "Yeah, I didn't think he'd get off work at this time either..."

Caroline mumbled before asking, "It's the weekend tomorrow... do you have any plans for the next two days? You two haven't arranged for a date, have you?"

A date?

For a fight, more like it!

"Caroline, is there something you need me to help you with? Don't worry; just say it! We're family now. I'm alone in the bedroom, don't worry!"

Wondering if she had run into something hard to tell, the first speculation that came to Victoria's mind was her sister-in-law had been defiled, and she needed to get herself checked or that she had a miscarriage of the sorts!

While she let her imagination run wild, Caroline answered absolutely piteously, but it was nowhere close to what she was thinking.

"I want to go to the Comic Con in Barrington City!"

Hearing that, Victoria burst out laughing again. "Haha, do you have to be so secretive? You had me worried for a second there! Go if you want to then; it's not like it's at the opposite end of the world!" Then it struck her when she heard no response. "You want me to be your travel buddy, don't you?"

"Mm-hmm. Vic, I really can't find

anyone else to go with me! A friend had agreed at first, but she suddenly had to go and visit her relative, so rebooked my ticket to wait for her. But who'd thought her grandma fell sick and had to be admitted to the hospital. She's stuck there for now, and I can't get anyone to go with me so suddenly!"

"Ichi Miyamoto, a Jopenzo comic artist, has a panel there. It's not big, but he'll be there. It's a rare opportunity! Hove his work; I really want to go! But... I'm scared to go alone! If Trevor finds out, he'll

definitely say no; they don't like me chasing after him! If he learns that I dragged you with me, he'll definitely break my legs! But I really don't know who to ask anymore, Vic. The train I booked will depart at eleven tonight. I had even thought of a perfect plan; sleep my way there, leave my luggage in the hotel before

going to the event, and return the latest by the night after tomorrow. But who'd thought... Sigh..."

Oh, how things have turned out. A late-night train to an unfamiliar city. Caroline had to admit she was a little scared.

Victoria thought it was a good distraction, seeing she happened to be in a bad mood and her sister-in-law invited her for once. Without a second thought, she agreed. "Sure! I'll go with you! I don't have any plans anyway; I'll take it as going on a holiday!"

Then the two discussed their rendezvous; Caroline even repeatedly told Victoria not to tell Trevor before they ended the call.

After packing lightly, Victoria had the chauffeur pick up Caroline before heading to the train station.

Fortunately, not many took the

midnight train, so Victoria got a ticket with barely an effort. After exchanging seats with another passenger, The ladies slowly drifted to sleep during their chat and arrived at Barrington City in no time. After a quick shower and a power nap, they headed straight to the convention

center at seven.

It wasn't until after a day's tour that they learned the event would last three days with a panel each day. Mr. Miyamoto would only show up the next day. It wasn't too packed since it was the first day, but the two still wandered around like headless chickens.

The two were worn out by the time they returned to their room, but Caroline held her bags of haul like they were her precious.

"Victoria, since we're already here, can we go back afternoon tomorrow, please? I reckon the final day will be like this morning. Most exhibitions would probably have been cleared!"

Hence, tomorrow should be the highlight. "Can we please stay for another half a day?

"

"Sure, whatever floats your boat! I've got all the time to keep you company! I haven't gotten the chance to try Barrington City's specialties yet anyway! Don't worry; I'll let you see to your heart's content! But now, sleep. I'm exhausted..."

With that, Victoria flipped over, kicked her shoes off, and buried herself beneath the comforter. Caroline followed after her, casually tucking herself in. The two chatted for a little more before falling into a deep slumber.

Meanwhile, Selena looked up to find a massive billboard advertising Barrington City's annual Sandane Comic Con after exiting a private holistic clinic.
