Chapter 62. New Friends

Mamma bear, had run away with her other cub, and the big bear was starting to wake up. I took the injured cub from Brock’s hands, and motioned for him and Cirilya to step back. In case the bear was going to attack again, I didn’t want them near him.

The bear opened his eyes, saw his injured son and roared loudly. Instantly, I put my hand on his nuzzle and focused on his eyes.

“Calm down, I’m here to help.” I said to him, but he tried to stand up and growled at me. I put the injured cub on the ground and he just laid there, moaning in pain. Another roar came from the big bear, and he wanted to bite me with his big mouth.

Brock’s point of view:

“Stop it!” She yelled at him, and she slapped the side of his mouth. For a moment, I thought that she was done for, she just slapped a huge bear! One, with its head rising above her own. But she just stood still, hands on her sides, like a strict mother telling her children to calm down.

I walked a bit sideways, and I could see that her eyes turned blue! Just like when she needed help from Nightwing at the mountains. So, blue eyes for her hunter abilities and red for the Mage’s Fury. I haven’t seen her eyes when she used her warrior abilities, as she was surrounded with my warriors or turned around. Did she get another colour for that? I’ll see later.

“Look at your son! He needs help, let me do that!” She yelled to him again, and he blinked his eyes in utter confusion. I guess, that bear never had to deal with a stubborn girl before. I chuckled at the bear’s reaction.

Emily’s point of view:

I put my hand on his nuzzle again and told him to be calm.

“Ease your feisty spirit and follow me. Let’s take care of your son and then we will talk further. Alright?” I said to him and started walking towards the barn.

I didn’t look behind me but I knew that he was following me, as Cirilya and Brock both gazed at the bear’s movements. When we got to the barn, I asked Brock to fetch the medical supplies, he brought here earlier. The cub did lose some blood, and his outer skin was damaged, but luckily not the organs in his abdomen. The cub didn’t like it, but I had to make some stitches to connect the skin together. He started to cry and his dad roared loudly, not wanting me to do that.

“I’m sorry, but I have to. Please trust me.” But the bear wouldn’t have it. He kept growling when I came near his son, with the needle and thread.

“Maybe I can help, I didn’t get to practice this a lot, so I hope it works.” Cirilya suddenly said and I gave the bear to her. Nothing ventured, nothing gained, right?

She started to hum, cradling the cute cub in her arms. Leaves around her on the ground, started to whirl up, and a green glow radiated from her body. Then, she put her hand on the cub’s stomach and started singing the sacred song. The green glow was absorbed by the cub and I could see that the wound started to heal! She can heal, without having the need of the blue glowing waters, which is amazing!

Soon the cub was healthy again, and feisty enough to squirm in Cirilya’s arms. She put him on the ground, and he ran off towards his dad. The big bear licked his cub and looked happy. This was the moment, for me to ask him.

“We mean you no harm, I hope you can see that now. Even more so, I’ll take care of your family if you choose to be my companion.” I said to him, with my hand on the side of his head, scratching behind his ear. He tilted his head, thinking about my proposal.

“Your name will be Ursai, if you let me be your master. Do you accept my offer?”

The bear spread his front paws a bit and lowered his head. Just like Nightwing, he bowed to me!

I was so happy with my new pet! A cute cuddly bear, twice my size if he stood on his back legs, but I wasn’t afraid of him. Ursai is a gentle creature, with a fierce character if it’s needed.

Through a vision, he showed me the place where he and his family lived. I had asked a guard at the barn to go and get Axel, and bring loads of meat and fish.

Ursai led the way and we followed him, towards a den under a few fallen trees and a lot of moss. His mate, came walking outside and they growled cutely towards one another. The healed, white striped cub, ran up to his brother and mother, jumping in joy.

Axel had arrived shortly after, with a cart full of meat and fish, and the bears immediately started to eat. The little cubs had to be lifted, to get them on the cart. When Axel lifted the black and white cub, I could see a glint of blue flashing in his eyes. This didn’t occur when he picked up the other cub though.

Brock had noticed as well, and said that I had blue eyes when I communicated with Ursai, and red eyes with the mages abilities. We both talked about it for a minute, where I also mentioned that Axel was able to communicate with his wolf too. We shared our thoughts about it, maybe indeed I’m not the only one anymore. Maybe others could be taught the same abilities that I have? I got curious…

“Axel, could you ask the striped cub, to stand on its back paws please?” I asked him.

He didn’t even frown to me, or discuss what I just asked him to do. He just looked at the cub, started focusing on his eyes, just like I did, every time I communicated with animals. Then his eyes started to glow blue and he asked the cub to stand up. Which he did! Axel was astonished to hear that his eyes glowed, but at the same time he was really happy that he could do this.

“I think you got a new pet, Axel. You have to give him a name now.” Brock said to him, and I nodded.

“Maybe Koda is a good name? It’s from a theatre show on Earth.” I said to him, not wanting to explain what a movie is, as I remembered the name of the cub in the Disney movie ‘Brother Bear’.

“Koda. A rare name, for a rare cub, I like it! Koda, would you like me to take care of you, and for me to be your master?” He asked the cute cub, while having blue glowing eyes. The cub looked back to his dad, and Ursai growled in agreement. Then the cub jumped into Axel’s arms, and he couldn’t stop smiling.

“Axel will take good care of your son, Ursai. He will grow up to be a strong and healthy bear.” I said to him. Ursai growled and nudged his head to my body.

After a while spending our time at the den, we had to leave. I had told Mamma bear and her cub that we would visit regularly, and bring food as well. Ursai and Koda went back to the castle with us. Cirilya decided to fly there as she was getting cold. She took the blanket in her claws when she shifted into her owl. She would be naked, when she shifted back at the castle, so that’s why she brought the blanket with her.

Apparently, she had informed my dad and Archeops of our arrival. As a line of hunters came running towards us, when we reached the training fields. They were all in awe, looking at the size of Ursai. Rhydon was still slightly larger than Ursai, but Ursai looked way more intimidating, with his rare coloured fur and huge paws. Koda was worshipped, by a few female hunters and Axel blushed at the attention that he got.

“Axel, Archeops, could you join us for dinner this evening? I’d have to discuss it with my dad, but I might have a proposition to make for you guys.” They both nodded in curiosity of my question, and my dad frowned deeply.

“What are you up to this time, daughter of mine? Archeops do you know what she wants?”

“No, I’m sorry my King. As I’ve heard, she just fought with the biggest bear I’ve seen in my life. I’m not going to question her motives!” Archeops said, rather serious actually. Brock laughed and all I could do was to stifle a laugh, as my dad rolled his eyes towards me.

He looked at Ursai as well, with squinted eyes. He wasn’t happy that I brought along another big creature, but I didn’t care. I love my big teddy bear!
