Zenora

Chapter 61. Ferocious

I saw a patch of black fur between the branches and two small roars were heard. Two cute roars and there they were, twin cubs. The twins rolled out of the bushes, fighting each other. They were trying to get out of a net that held them together.

“Brock get here! Stand behind me!” I yelled to him and he quickly glanced my way and saw what was going on.

I tried to untangle the net from the cubs, without getting hurt by their claws. Even though the cubs are small, their claws were just as sharp, as those of an adult bear. Finally, I got one of the bear cubs out, and he ran towards the big bear. At the same time Brock came running towards me and then I noticed something worryingly.

The cub, that was still entangled in the net, had been injured. Probably by the claws of the other cub, when they were stuck. It had a big gash on its belly, that needed medical care immediately. But even though the wound is quite large, it's not the part, that worries me the most right now.

“Brock, can you see any white fur on the bears back?” Brock frowned at me when I had asked him that, but I really needed to know. The bear kept roaring, and stalked into our direction.

“Brock answer me! Does the bear have white fur on its back?” If genetics on Zenora work the same way as on Earth, then we will be in big trouble, if this bear keeps roaring so loudly.

“No, it’s all black. What the hell does it matter?” Brock asked me, while I was still trying to free the cub. The net was tangled around its head, from squirming and it was getting more difficult to free him, without me getting hurt.

“I think this bear is their mother and she is all black, guess who…” But I couldn’t finish my sentence.

The most loud roars of all time, was heard from behind us. A tree got knocked over and fell into the clearing. Bushes rustled and branches broke.

“…has the white fur.” Brock finished my sentence in a slow voice.

Mamma bear kept her distance, as I have her little, black cub with a single white stripe on its back. She kept roaring towards me, and the injured cub roared back at her. I still tried to free him, but then there still was the fact that it was hurt badly. If his dad saw this, then we would be in big trouble. We wouldn’t be able to run from him, even if we tried.

I looked behind me, and a massive bear, standing on the grassy clearing with us. Mostly it was covered in black fur, but he had white paws and a white stripe on his head and back. Immediately, the mother and its cub, ran towards the huge bear, in search for safety. Now, we only have to focus on the dad. Not that I liked the odds though, as this bear was twice the size of mamma bear, and looked even more ferocious than any creature I’ve seen before.

I had to think fast and picked up the cub, with the net still entangled around its head, and gave him to Brock.

“Cirilya, get to the clearing behind the barn and bring a knife!” I communicated through the mind link. Hoping, that she was still at the barn. Hoping that she would get my message, as this was only the second time, that I tried to communicate this way.

Brock’s point of view:

She just gave me the cub! What am I to do with it?

“Walk towards the barn, Cirilya is on her way with a knife! Cut the net and come back to me, go!” She yelled at me, and it was hard for me not to argue with her.

She has survived the most ridiculous things, from an attack by a rhydian to being tortured and abused. And all the things that happened in between. She has incredible strong powers, and killed her own abuser with an ancient ability. And then yesterday, she fought off, ten of my strongest warriors. So, who am I, to question a woman, my woman, with so much power and determination? I wouldn’t, even if I could. I really wanted to protect her, and argue with her, but now was not the time.

I turned around and took the squirming cub with me. Behind me I heard the bear roar several times, but I didn’t hear Emily scream, so that’s good. Walking towards the barn, I could see Cirilya tucked in her blanket, carrying a knife. Instantly, she cut the cub loose and asked me where Emily was.

“She is fighting its father…”

“And you let her?!” Cirilya screamed at me. I rolled my eyes and carried the cub with me, running towards the clearing again. Cirilya followed me, and we ran faster when we both heard several more, loud roars.

When we came closer, I saw her avoiding the bear’s swipes. Even though the bear is strong, he is slow in its attacking movements.

She ducked from one of its paws, and jumped over another. She ran in between his white feet and stepped sideways, reappearing from underneath its belly. Then, releasing a volley of fist-attacks on his stomach, and the bear roared in agony. With a swift jump, she leaped onto his back, and then landed on his head, when he tried to stand up on his back legs. From the force of her weight coming down, his head was pushed downwards, and he landed its paws on the ground again. She somersaulted forward, to land on the ground in front of the bears head.

She was now facing us. I could see her smile, is she enjoying this battle, with that big ass of a bear?

“Watch out!” Cirilya suddenly yelled, and I could see the bear lift himself up again, on his back legs.

Emily slowly turned around and bend her knees, I know what she is going to do now, but Cirilya didn’t. I could see Cirilya close her eyes in fear, holding her arm in front of her face, not daring to watch what was going to happen next.

Again, just like yesterday, I could feel the ground rumble and dust started to whirl up. Then with a loud bang and a groaning roar from Emily, she jumped up in the air with her fist pointing towards the bear’s jaw.

Emily’s point of view:

My fist hit the bear’s jaw and I could see in its eyes, that he got knocked out from it. With a loud thud, his head, huge paws and body slammed onto the ground. Although it would be a good challenge to kill him, I didn’t want to. This bear was going to be my companion, if he would let me.

Brock and Cirilya came walking in my direction, together with the injured cub.

“What are you going to do, with the bear?” Cirilya asked me.

“Well, I still need an animal, that can aid me in the battle to come.” I said with a smile.

“You are going to tame a rare, feral bear?” Brock said to me and smiled while asking me.

“Yep, if he will let me, and I will take care of his mate and cubs as well.”

“Your father won’t like this…” Brock said, but I didn’t care.
