Chapter 122
Time flew by.
Calla was now almost seven months pregnant.
Her belly had grown significantly, making her movements increasingly cumbersome.
She could now clearly feel the baby’s movements. In a way, she had fostered a deep bond with the little one inside her.
One morning, Jasmine came upstairs to report to her. “Mrs. Garland, Mrs. Garland Senior is here to see you.”
Calla frowned slightly upon hearing this.
Since their last meeting in Sedonia, Rose had been absent from her life. Though she didn’t particularly like Rose, she acknowledged their current relationship as in–laws.
Therefore, Calla got dressed and went downstairs.
When Calla entered the living room, she saw Rose sitting primly on the couch.
“Mom, you’re here.” Calla greeted Rose with her head lowered.
Rose’s eyes lingered on Calla’s belly for a while before she uttered softly, “Have a seat.”
Calla proceeded to sit down. She could sense Rose’s friendliness. At least for now, Rose’s eyes didn’t hold its usual hostility and disgust.
“I’ve been wanting to visit you, but I’ve been too busy to find the time. Seeing you in good condition now puts my mind at ease. By the way, I bought a lot of things for the baby. How about letting Jasmine go back to Sedonia with me to fetch them?” Rose suddenly changed the topic.
Hearing this, Calla glanced at Jasmine and hesitated. Besides the security guards at the gate, Jasmine was the only one taking care of her in the villa.
Noticing Calla’s reluctance, Rose quickly added, “It’s a four–hour drive to Sedonia. I will make sure she returns before dark tonight.”
“You should be the one to decide, Mom,” Calla replied with a nod. She didn’t think anything would happen if Rose took Jasmine away for a few hours.
“Then let’s not waste any time. Jasmine, come with me,” Rose said, standing up.
“Oh.” Jasmine, still in a daze, nervously followed Rose after hearing her name being called.
As promised, Jasmine was brought back just before it got dark. She returned with numerous baby items- cribs, bottles, pillows, blankets, clothes, and formula.
There were a ton of things that a baby could need, many of these items were imported and unfamiliar to Calla. The total value was likely in the tens of thousands…
Seeing these items, Calla rubbed her belly and cheerfully uttered, “Baby, are you seeing this? Granny bought all these for you.”
After looking through the items, Calla turned to Jasmine. “Jasmine, I’m hungry. Could you make me

something to eat?”
“I’ll get right to it,” Jasmine replied and hurried to the kitchen.
had broken. Calla quickly went to check and found Jasmine crouching on the floor, picking up pieces of a broken soup tureen.
Soon after, there was a loud crash from the kitchen, indicating somethin
“Jasmine, you need to be more careful,” Calla commented right before Jasmine accidentally cut her hand on a shard of porcelain.
“Oh no, you’re bleeding. That’s enough. Go and bandage your hand. I’ll make myself some pasta.” Calla urged, gently pushing Jasmine out of the kitchen.
Jasmine looked at Calla, seeming to want to say something. However, she ended up not saying a word as she went to clean her wound.
Rose received a call from Sophie a week later.
“Mrs. Garland Senior, have you thought of a solution yet?” Sophie asked.
Rose frowned. “Not yet.”
There was a pause on the other end before Sophie said, “Mrs. Garland Senior, you’ve faced many challenges. Surely this small issue isn’t beyond you? Are you stalling on purpose?”
