Chapter 177
Reid didn’t care where they sent him. Once he donned the uniform, his life
belonged to the country.
But he knew the dangers that lurked around Brian, and if he left, any new guy
assigned to protect Brian was bound to miss something!
“I won't repeat myself,” Brian said, his face void of emotion.
Reid fell silent, standing still for a few seconds before quickly catching up to Brian
and Natalie.
“Where are you transferring him to?” Natalie glanced back and forth between
Reid and Brian, suddenly grasping the gravity of the situation. She whispered to
Brian, “Where's he going?”
Brian turned his gaze to her, giving her a brief look but not answering her
question.
“Brian!” Natalie couldn't help but frown, grabbing his sleeve, “It is my fault. What
does it have to do with Reid?!"
Reid had been by his side for years. Was he going to punish Reid like this just
because he failed to keep an eye on her once? She even doubted if Brian had a
heart or any feelings at all!
Brian stopped, turned around, and yanked her toward him with a forceful grip,
whispering, “If you care so much, learn to behave yourself. Got it?”
Natalie met his gaze head-on, seeing nothing but fury and an overpowering
need to control in his eyes.
He knew she didn’t care, so he punished the people close to her to torment her,
to unsettle her conscience.
Yet she had known all along how ruthless he was. He would stop at nothing to
get what he wanted, so it was her recklessness, her failure to appreciate what
was good for her. It was her fault.
“I won't do it again,” she said softly, her lips barely moving, “It's my fault.”
Despite Reid's professional demeanor, always appearing aligned with Brian,
some things went beyond words. She knew how good Reid had been to her, and
it made it more difficult for her to watch him take the fall.
“It's too late,” Brian replied curtly with his words.
Natalie tried to follow and plead with him, but Reid stopped her, shaking his head
and
whispering, “Miss Natalie, don’t bother.”
The more Reid insisted, the more panicked Natalie felt inside. Reid hadn't done
anything wrong! It was her issue!
“You know Mr. Howard's temper. There's no use begging anymore,” Reid
continued.

At the airport exit, donning a fisherman's hat and a mask, Gracia was swarmed
by a crowd of journalists, making it impossible for her to move. Gracia had no
idea how these reporters had learned of her schedule, and their microphones
and barrage of questions nearly suffocated her.
“Ms. Wright, regarding the international Best Actress award you received, is it
true as rumored that you got it by sleeping your way to the top?”
“When did you get to know that director? Was it after you learned your movie was
nominated?”
“Is the recent cold shoulder from the Howard family because you opted to climb
another social ladder?”
“This is the first time in five years that someone from our country has won Best
Actress at an international film festival. Surely, you did it to boost your
international reputation, right?”
“Ms. Wright, have you considered that you would become the world’s
laughingstock if this got out? Not only will you fail to bring honor to Solara’s film
industry, but you'll also be ridiculed?”
The reporter's every word was like a knife to Gracia’s heart, and she was in a
daze as she ooked around at the eager faces surrounding her.
