Chapter 501 He Is Crazy
"Lewis! What are you doing?"
Josephine arrived just in time to witness him tormenting the dog. Her anger surged instantly.
Upon hearing her voice, Lewis released his grip on Lucy. The dog scurried away, tucking its tail between its legs and retreating to its cage. It was too afraid to come out.
He clapped his hands to rid them of dirt and stood up. Then he stared at Josephine. "I was playing with Lucy. Why did you come down?"
Josephine looked at him warily. "Playing?"
"Why are you so tense? Did you think I was hurting them?"
Josephine was at a loss for words. He could even harm humans, let alone two dogs.
He was the one who dealt with Quintin's adopted pets.
Perhaps sensing her thoughts, he pulled out a white handkerchief and wiped his fingertips. "Don't worry. As long as they behave, I'll take good care of them and provide them with everything they need."
Josephine wasn't sure whether he was referring to the dogs or her with that statement.
After wiping his hands, he tossed the handkerchief on the ground and headed outside. Before long, the car lights illuminated the yard. Josephine watched as he drove away.
Sighing, she realized he was really crazy.
Lewis didn't return that day. Early the next morning, Josephine left the mansion for the company as dawn broke. She didn't want to spend a single extra minute in that house.
Arriving at the office, she sat there for over two hours before her colleagues began coming.
The atmosphere was notably off today. Usually, her colleagues would be busy preparing props for the shoot after they arrived.
However, they were all sitting around today, engrossed in their phones. They looked as if they were on strike.
When Wendy arrived at the office, Josephine pulled her aside and asked, "What's going on today? Are we not working?"
Wendy gave her a strange look and responded, "Haven't you checked the group chat?"
Then she remembered something else. "Oh, right. You probably haven't joined the group. Yona ran into some trouble. Shooting is temporarily suspended today. Mr. Allen called Mr. Lager into a meeting." "What happened?"
Wendy explained, "You should search online. You'll probably find out."
Following her advice, Josephine quickly searched for Yona's name on her phone. Instantly, a slew of recent news articles and discussions came up.
Piecing together all the information, Josephine deduced what had happened to Yona.
A few chat screenshots sparked the incident. Yona had been deriding other influencers with another influencer. She even mocked various celebrities.
The influencer decided to expose the screenshots because Yona had been seducing her boyfriend.
Besides these screenshots, that person also divulged many of Yona's secrets, like her hooking up with sugar daddies and having fun in clubs.
In summary, Yona had a poor character, a chaotic personal life, and was simultaneously dating many individuals.
Her videos garnered high views and intense attention. It caused a frenzy on the internet.
People were criticizing her actions. Some urged her to step forward and clarify herself.
However, Yona remained silent. She seemed to be ignoring those rumors.
Albert didn't know how to deal with the situation, so he called for a meeting to find a solution.
They couldn't contact Yona and were considering sending someone to her apartment to find her. Just then, Conrad arrived.
As soon as Conrad arrived, he confronted Rick and started questioning them.
"What have you done? Now even Chairman Alvarez knows about this situation. Yona is under our company's contract. Her actions have seriously tarnished the company's reputation. How do you plan to handle this?"
Rick hurriedly approached him with an apologetic smile. "Mr. Berg, we are just as clueless about the situation. We were planning to find Yona and get a clear explanation from her."
Conrad replied sternly, "Save the trouble. I'm here to deliver a message."
"W-What message?"
"Chairman Alvarez said you need to issue a public statement. It should state that Yona violated company regulations. Due to personal reasons, her actions have negatively impacted the company's reputation. "The company terminates the contract with her unilaterally and demands that she compensate for the company's losses and the breach of contract penalty."
Shocked, Rick exclaimed, "Mr. Berg, that means we're confirming the truth of those allegations."
"Isn't it the truth? She's just an influencer. Do you expect the company to spend money on public relations for her? Just do as I've said."
Sighing, Rick nodded. Since it was Lewis' decision, he couldn't save Yona.
"Alright, I'll take care of it."
Conrad nodded and left the office without saying anything more.
Once the announcement was released, Yona had no chance of coming back.
Rick went to see her in the afternoon. Yona locked herself in her room. She looked disheveled, pale, and almost ghostly when he saw her.
She appeared to have experienced a shock and seemed somewhat disoriented. She curled up on the couch as she saw Rick and the others. Her phone on the coffee table kept ringing.
Her family members called after receiving a legal notice stating that she owed the company over five million dollars.
How could her family come up with such a large sum of money? Selling their house wouldn't even yield five million.
Her parents had called her in the morning and berated her. Whenever she heard her phone ring now, she reacted like a startled bird. She would cover her ears and tremble with fear.
"Don't kill me. Don't kill me. I was wrong...'
Seeing Yona in this state, Rick exchanged a glance with Albert. They both shook their heads with a sense of pity.
It seemed she was done for. Even if her image was rehabilitated, she couldn't resume normal filming.
The group had no choice but to leave the room.
As they discussed how to handle her social media accounts on the way out, they lamented the loss of an account with over ten million followers. Since Jay was still around, they could at least find a new lead
actress.
"Seems like this is the only way."
"It's such a pity. We invested so much into that account, and now we have to start from scratch."
"We don't have any other choice. Even Chairman Alvarez knows about it. Let's just do what we can."
As they were talking, a loud noise suddenly echoed behind them. They were startled.
They turned to see a figure lying on the ground, covered in blood.
Pedestrians passing by let out sharp screams, attracting a crowd of onlookers.
Yona had jumped off a building.
Upon receiving this news, Conrad clutched the phone in his hand. He glanced back at the office behind him. It was Lewis' office.
His face turned pale. He knew deep down that something suspicious was going on.
Lewis did adopt Conrad's suggestion last night, but he only adopted half of it. He let Yona go temporarily, but he didn't wait for her popularity to die down.
They released the public statement in the morning, and Yona jumped off a building in the afternoon. Wasn't it chaotic enough?
Conrad dared not raise his question. He suppressed his panic and quickly left the office.
The news spread rapidly, and even Josephine's team got wind of it.
Josephine's hands trembled as she looked at the news online.
Lewis had been out all night yesterday. What had he done?
"Well, I never expected Yona to take it this far. Just because of contract termination and a debt of five million ... Was jumping off a building really necessary? But this incident has nothing to do with our company, right?"
Josephine turned pale. She remained silent.
At that moment, she received a message from Seth.
It was brief.
"I'm returning in a week. Keep it a secret."
