Chapter Surprise Guest
Amy’s POV
When we got upstairs every person was looking at me like I was supposed to change somehow, be more broken. With a dark laugh, Zach took me to Sage. He was still unaware of the things we did in the basement or even if he knew, he did a very good job at hiding his expressions.
“So...is she going to do everything we want?” Sage asked Zach who nodded with a smirk.
With an evil grin, Sage pointed at the pentagram to sit again. I stumbled back not knowing what to do but before I could escape Zach gripped my hand and harshly led me to sit. Was he out of his mind!? When he was sure I wasn’t running he got the dagger and started to summon my mother.
“Wait!” It was Sage’s turn to stop the ritual.
“Where is Roth? She was supposed to bring you.” He asked and I shrugged. Zach told him that she left a while ago to bring more ingredients. Satisfied with the answer he started to chant. But he wasn’t summoning my mother. He was going back to the person he really is...a hellhound. He was gnashing his teeth and his whole body lighted with flame. To my horror this time everybody started to chant. I helplessly looked at Zach to see that he was already nodding at me to do something.
I don’t remember what happened next. I don’t even know where I found that power in me to stand up and give him a smirk. The other creatures, his minions were staring at me. I could feel the waves of evil coming from them. I closed my eyes and remembered the spells I used to hear. The sleepless nights I’ve been reading about these creatures. My mother’s life, mine's and the whole world depended on my actions.
Sage gave me a curious eyebrow to see what I would do. Anger and pain sharpened my focus. I imagined the horror they created, the pain they gave Hannah and the clan. Then I glanced down to see white lights at the fingertips of my hand. I pushed all the pain and rage pumping through my veins into those creatures. Mother’s words surfaced my mind; “It’s all about emotion. Let it lose.” So I did.
I opened my eyes wide, reached out and with every ounce of strength I possessed pushed the light out towards the people who were coming close to me. The creatures scream filled my ears. Drops of blood and ash rained to the floor where once the creatures were standing. I was outnumbered but it didn’t make me afraid. What I did to ruthlessly keep killing was justified as cruel it sounds.
Sage was beyond pissed now. I guess even he has a limit. When he turned to attack me Zach suddenly pulled a string from behind to bind him. I don’t know where he did time to manage that but I was glad once he did.
“You can’t just bind me you fool! I’m a hellhound! I’m million years old and more experienced than you little foolish girl!” He screamed and his minions or what left of them tried to struggle out of the bind.
Suddenly Sage managed to break the bind and slammed past me, straight into Zach making them both broke the portion and shattering the glass on impact. Zach was too shocked to do something and to my horror, Sage bit his arm...hard. I didn’t’ know who screamed first; Zach or me. Heart pumping and screaming for him, I stumbled from the room in shock, to the other side of the room.
Zach was pinned to the ground by none other than Sage. His hands were clenched around Zach’s throat as he held him off.
“We killed Roth.” Zach declared and if possible Sage got even angrier.
“And you couldn’t do anything about it.” He finished. What was the hell wrong with him? Did he have a death wish?
This time Sage chucked a flesh of arm from Zach and he screamed out in pain. He looked tired, ready to give in and when his eyes found me; he managed to gasp, "Run!”
I froze to the spot not knowing what to do. Danny’s voice filled my ears to keep calm. But I won’t leave Zach to die at Sage’s hand, not after what he did for me. I might never forget what Zach did to me but it wasn’t his fault. This world wasn’t meant for him. He was meant to study in college, play football, have a girlfriend, being the goofy guy he once was; not fighting a hellhound. That’s when I knew I wouldn’t give up without a fight.
I wouldn’t let Sage hurt my loved ones.
I looked for the dagger that was thrown away in the chore and found it lying on the floor covering in ash and dust. Taking a deep breath I picked it up and looked down at the dagger still clucked between my fingers. Running towards them I saw that Zach was almost losing and a snarl came from the hellhound who was enjoying his defeat cruelly.
The dagger in my hand started to hum and that drew the hellhound at my place. I could see his eyes darkening at the dagger and a pleased sigh came from his mouth.
“I’ll summon my mother once you let go of him,” I yelled in his direction and he growled. I again threatened him and this time he let Zach go. Zach coughed blood as his face paled farther. I ran towards Zach and hugged him. He was shocked but hugged me back.
“Find Danny and prepare for the war,” I whispered to him once I was sure Sage couldn’t hear. He declined to let me go but I pushed him away. When I was sure he was out of my sight I grinned. I took the dagger and cut my palm to draw out blood. Sage took a confused look and I show him that the blood was now pouring down from my hands to the dagger.
“What are you doing? It wasn’t the plan.” A voice growled and looking up it was Sage who was now shifting back between half human and half hellhound.
“You’re the first Seeker but you were too desperate to get out of here that you forgot one important thing.” I teased and he took a step forward but I wasn’t afraid so I didn’t back out.
“And what that’ll be?” He snarled again.
“The moon goddess blessed the vampires and we are the descended from them. We reapers are practically blessed by her and you took a blood moon for this sacrifice when she can easily be summoned by a reaper.” I wickedly smiled showing that the humming now was almost unbearable.
“So what!?” He screamed but even he seemed to be uncertain as what did I mean by that. Without answering him I started to chant;
“In this holy blood moon Ancient wise one, the welfarer of the night,
Take all that has to end, all that must disappear and tie with you, into the darkness,
I welcome your peace, I welcome the stillness,
As you disappear into the dawn, so I chose to go within, I summon Selene,
To end this evil once and all!”
As soon as the words left my mouth the weather picked up its speed. The pouring blood from my palm patched up by itself. Sage horridly looked behind him to see the commotion. I could see someone in front of me swirling to the dark winds. It was a cloud of silver and dust when suddenly a woman dropped from the wind. Whoever raised from the ashes she was graceful. I noticed the terror in every hellhounds red eye. Sage himself looked at the sight horrified and ready to run.
“So who summoned me?″ A melodious voice asked.
