The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 468

Chapter 468 Chapter

Noelle returned to her apartment in the early hours of the morning.

Rosie was already asleep, slumped over her shoulder. She must have been exhausted, as her breathing was heavy.

With one hand supporting Rosie, Noelle struggled to open the door with the other.

Once inside, she didn't have time to do anything else except carefully lay Rosie down on the bed. After tucking her in and closing the bedroom door, Noelle finally made her way back to the living room. The floor lamp beside her was still on, and across from it stood the bookshelf she hadn't had time to tidy up before leaving. Inside were countless hand-drawn sketches even some storyboard ideas she had come up with herself.

But now, they all seemed to mock her.

Noelle knew all too well that in this industry, authors like her were often put on a pedestal, but in reality, they were at the bottom of the food chain.

Marketing was handled by the company, and even negotiations with collaborators were done by them. All she could do was be informed and agree.

Yet, she was the one who sketched tirelessly every day, brainstorming plotlines late into the night, and ultimately bearing the brunt of readers' dissatisfaction and criticism.

And just when she finally received the good news of the adaptation and joined the scriptwriting team, this happened, resulting in her not even having the right to be credited.

Noelle suddenly felt the absurdity of it all.

She closed her eyes and composed herself before starting to clean her apartment.

That night was no different from the previous two. She lay in her bed, both physically and mentally exhausted, yet sleep still eluded her.

The next day, Noelle was awakened by the sound of knocking on the door. Over the past two days, she had heard similar knocks at her hotel room, along with people slipping things under her door.

Some had left threatening letters and hateful messages, while others had dumped disgusting things at her. doorstep.

So, when Noelle heard the knocking, she couldn't help but feel a wave of fear.

It wasn't until Seline's call came through that she relaxed.

"Are you home? I'm at your door, but it's locked from the inside, so my key won't work."

Hearing Seline's voice, Noelle finally let out a sigh of relief.

Seline quickly stepped inside.

"Are you okay?" Seeing how haggard Noelle looked, she immediately frowned. "I heard what happened. Why didn't you call me?"

"Weren't you busy with your overseas trip those two days? Noelle quickly forced her smile for Seline's sake. Besides, it's all settled now. So, I'm fine."

Fine'? Your company and the production team issued a joint statement saying you were fired from the project. How is that fine? You're the original author and the scriptwriter! What gives them the right to do that?" Seline's voice rose sharply as she spoke.

Noelle was about to remind her that Rosie was still sleeping when Rosie emerged from the bedroom. Rubbing her eyes, Rosie greeted Seline, "Oh, hi, Seline."

Noelle immediately stood up, ready to walk over, but she froze in her tracks as she looked at Rosie in a daze.

Since Rosie had just woken up, her hair was a mess. She was dressed in the princess pajamas that Noelle had bought her. But on the white collar of her pajamas was a patch of dried blood.

And as Rosie rubbed her nose, she realized she was having a nosebleed again.

"Rosie!" Seline was the first to react. She rushed forward without hesitation and grabbed Rosie's hand.
