The Sway and Slide of Love

Chapter 205

Chapter 205

The woman continued her conversation, her eyes lighting up as she spotted something. She waved excitedly in that direction.

Then, Noelle saw it, too-a sleek black car in the rain-soaked night. The license plate was unfamiliar, but the car's model was one Noelle recognized all too well. After all it was Hendrix's favorite.

She paused for a moment before turning her gaze away. Instead of calling for a ride, she decisively turned around and walked off into the rainy night.

"You're here!" Lana Ray didn't seem to notice anything else

As the driver stepped out to open the door, she eagerly got into the car.

Hendrix was already seated inside, dressed in a black shirt with dark gold cufflinks featuring an intricate,

elegant pattern. His slender hand rested on his knee, and his strikingly handsome face was devoid of any expression. His deep, piercing eyes stared ahead, shadowed by a hint of somberness.

"Mr. Freeman?" Lana called him again and followed his gaze for a moment, but she didn't spot anything unusual.

"Let's go," Hendrix said lightly.

Seeing that his mood wasn't the best, Lana wisely chose not to press further.

Once they arrived at the hotel, Lana, still holding onto a glimmer of hope, asked softly, "Would you like to come up-

Hendrix merely gave her a sideways glance, but Lana instantly understood the unspoken message and instantly shut up. She knew full well that what existed between them was nothing more than a transaction.

Although Lana didn't know why Hendrix had chosen her, she couldn't deny that ever since the morning's news broke, the number of job offers she received had skyrocketed by dozens of times compared to before.

And they were all opportunities she never dared to dream of. It was no wonder that people in the entertainment industry had told her that only by getting close to the right circles could one truly break through.

Otherwise, no matter how many fans she had or how well her films sold, she would still be viewed by others as nothing more than a money-making commodity-or even just a plaything. Now that she had tasted the sweet rewards, it was only natural for her to crave more.

However, the warning glance from Hendrix made her immediately abandon the thought. Thus, she obediently got out, and the car quickly drove away.

Lana took the elevator back to her room. After removing her sunglasses and mask, she glanced at her reflection in the mirror. Suddenly, something crossed her mind.

She put the mask back on and covered her chestnut-colored wavy hair. Looking at her reflection again, she opened the photos on her phone their eyes were so similar.

The night in Vinton City wasn't as bustling as Coppersville,

Noelle's place was peaceful, and with the rain falling tonight, the entire neighborhood seemed deserted. Her hair and clothes were soaked, carrying a chill that seemed to seep into her very bones.

Noelle hurriedly wiped her face with a tissue as she quickly walked toward the elevator. The elevator had just arrived on the first floor, but the doors were almost closing

However, it seemed the person inside had heard her hurried footsteps, and the doors were already reopened before Noelle could even raise a hand to stop them.

"Thank you." As soon as Noelle spoke, she realized the person in front of her was someone she knew. "Mrs. F-Ms. Swanson," Dan quickly responded, sounding a bit embarrassed.

Noelle froze for a moment, then suddenly remembered the car she had seen outside the restaurant earlier. So, it really was him!

She quickly regained her composure and smiled. "Fancy meeting you here, Mr. Hurley. What brings you here?"

"I'm on a business trip with Mr. Freeman. My girlfriend's from Vinton City, so I'm staying here," Dan explained.
