Chapter 7: Eye for an Eye
“Lord Ceaser, I have come with a report” a man knelt before Gustavo and Ceaser who sat on high chairs like kings
“Yes have you captured them?” Ceaser asked
“No five of our men were killed trying to capture them, they have exceptional military experience” he replied sweat beginning to form on his forehead “they they call themselves soldiers of the old world”
“What……did……you…….say?” Ceaser asked as he stood up
“I I I I, we the men they the arrg” his head was ripped off before he even finished speaking
“Useless scum, some of these men are not worthy to be originals” said Ceaser as he licked the blood on his fingers
“This is why I dislike being around you” Gustavo complained feeling irritated by house Ceaser killed his own man
“Sometimes you are too soft brother, but……..I apologize” said Ceaser as he walked back to his seat
“It seems these Soldiers are some formidable foes” Gustavo said standing up “are you coming?” he looked at his friend
“Call me if things get tough, that is if you still breathe” smiled Ceaser
“Like thats possible, see you at dawn. This one I go alone” replied Gustavo
“Its been a while since I have seen you like this, I feel like the heavens have smiled upon us” commented Ceaser
“I hope I don’t get disappointed” said Gustavo “until then” he added and walked out of the building
A cloud of dust filled the air as Gustavo’s jeep raced through the wastelands. His grip on the steering wheel was so powerful the wheel bent. Nothing else was on his mind except carnage.
Having Ceaser’s best men defeated so easily, so these soldiers must be some formidable fellows he thought as he accelerated
Unlike Ceaser who picked a fight at every turn Gustavo only stepped up when there was a sign of a struggle against an enemy. The last time he faced someone strong was when he fought against Victor. The man might have been an ordinary human but his power and potential far exceeded that of mankind. Since then Gustavo has not faced anyone as strong as that.

The orange flames of the campfire illuminated most of the forest. The people belonging to Merlyn’s group had set camp in that area deep in the woods where they could not be easily located. After the attack from Ceaser’s men they had moved camp from where they used to be deeper into the woods to higher ground too. They numbered 45 which included a small population of children and non combatant women. Merlyn, Shepherd, Praise, and Denzel were out on supply runs. Sofia was left in charge of the camp just so that there is order. The triumph over Ceaser’s men had lifted the moral and the mood of the members of the group. They now believed more in their capabilities as a whole.
“We sure showed those bastards whose boss” commented Alberto and everyone laughed
He made fun of the man who ran away after they were defeated.
“Youll pay C C C C Ceaser wi will hear this. The bastards nearly spoiled his pants” Alberto said causing more laughter to erupt in the camp
“They messed with the wrong camp, those savages” commented a soldier sitting next to the fire
“Yea but those guys were not something to be taken lightly” commented a woman
“Hahahaha nonsense, they don’t hold a candle when it comes to us” Alberto boasted
“Is that so?” a voice asked
“Yes ye” Alberto didn’t recognize the voice, so he lifted his eyes to see who it was and met with dark cold eyes that paralyzed him for an instant
Jesus he broke a sweat who the fuck is ah shit he realized who it was
“Ge get the guns get the arrrgg” he yelled but his words were muffled by blood gushing out of his mouth, his body had been nailed to a tree in the blink of an eye
Chaos erupted as the non combatants and children ran for their lives and the soldiers grabbed their guns.
It had happened so fast, for a split second people had froze, not believing their eyes. One moment Alberto was laughing with them telling jokes and the next he was impelled by a metal javelin rod through the chest to a tree.
“Get the children out of here!!” yelled Sofia as they prepared to stand their ground
Fuck these bastards what kind of balls do they have she thought as she loaded her gun
The soldiers all aimed at Gustavo who seemed un phased by all that was happening. He towered over the men, even though they had guns some of them still felt inferior. He slowly walked to a chair near the fire
“Don’t move you bastard!!” yelled a soldier
Gustavo lifted his hands up in the air as a sign of surrender and sat down. All the soldiers who had gone to get their guns returned and now about 15 people were pointing their guns at him. Snipers were already stationed in their strategic positions with Sofia as one of them.
“How did you get past the guards?” asked one soldier realizing no one announced the arrival of Gustavo even though there were 5 people stationed at different points in the forest
“Before we start if you know or feel you are unable to fight and still wish to live leave now.” he said ignoring the question
His words made Sofia sweat why is he so confident? she looked around did he come with reinforcements?
The men and women aiming at him also looked around to see if there were reinforcements.
“How many are you?” a woman asked
“I work alone”
“What is this a joke?” asked a male soldier who readily held his fire arm
“Shall we begin” he said expressionless
The soldiers soldiers cranked their guns, the clicking of guns being prepared for fire filled the air.
“We begin at the drop of this coin” Gustavo lifted a bronze coin
He dropped it and before he it even hit the ground Sofia took her shot and the bullet marked the beginning of a melee. Gustavo moved with such speed the the fight seemed unreal. One moment he was right in front of them, then next he was behind them ripping them apart like clothing. So much blood splashed in the air it almost seemed like it was raining blood. Some bullets would hit him but it was almost as though Gustavo didn’t feel them. His skin had darkened due to the numerous purple veins that protruded above his skin.
“God, no kill him!” the soldiers yelled “fall back avoid being too close to him, shoot from a distance!”
Each time the soldiers would try to back away they would find themselves caught before even reacting. After getting hit by numerous shots from the snipers he determined their positions and used the bodies of the men he was killing as shields and weapons. He would throw their bodies, with such precession taking out the snipers. They went down one by one it felt like something from a movie. Sofia who watched as her comrades were slaughtered like children against an adult had frozen with fear. She knew there was no way of surviving this, that man was a monster
“Lieutenant save us God nooo” the men and women cried out as they witnessed their comrades die like flies
Slowly backing away Sofia hoped out of the tree she was in and fled.
Ripping hearts, throats and strangling the soldiers to death, Gustavo snuffed out their lives in mere minutes. Even though the non combatants had escaped when Gustavo arrived they were paralyzed by the screams coming from the camp and the bodies that were flying past them. All they could do was cover the children’s ears and eyes praying God saves them. Over 15 soldiers were taken out in under five minutes.
Panting trying to keep herself conscious she took long strides. Tears trickled down her cheeks as she prayed Praise and the others appear to save them.
“Lieutenant save us God nooo………oh God help us" she remembered the screams of the men as she ran
In mere minutes the screams and gunfire coming from the camp seized instantly. She stopped and looked back with sheer terror visible in her eyes.
How could one man do such damage and so quickly
She turned about to flee when she saw a sight that almost stopped her heart.
So this is the end she thought as she saw Gustavo who she had left fighting the soldiers stand a short distance from her
How he had gotten ahead of her is something she was failing to understand. She was very sure she left him still fighting other soldiers even though the fight was one sided. Feeling utterly defeated she fell to her knees and closed her eyes preparing for her end. She could hear his heavy footsteps slowly walk towards her. Their sound stopped in from of her and a nauseating odor of raw blood struck her nose almost causing her to hurl but her body was too stiff to react.
“Are you not their lieutenant?” he asked but Sofia was so terrified her senses had dulled
Gustavo crouched in front of her and stared directly into her close eyes. “open your eyes” he instructed
And almost as though she had no control over her own actions she slowly began to open them. The moment she met his gaze her lips dried, she had run out of air. She gasped for air and things began to blur. Gustavo stood up and began walking away, by the time she passed out, he was completely out of sight.
