Chapter 56

Chapter 56

“How many days have I been here, Troy?” I questioned the guard who has now become my close confidante and the only person I talk to in the cell.

“Fifteen days,” he answered and I chuckled.

After that day, I did not hear from Lucien or Rielle, nor my children, except for a letter I received from Lucien two days after that incident.

flashback

I was asleep on the ground in my cell room when I began to hear noises of someone hitting the door. I opened my eyes slowly and sighed when I saw a maid bringing food.

“Is this poisoned?” I questioned, eying her suspiciously, not like she’d actually tell me even if it was poisoned.

“No ma,” she said, her head bent and I sighed.

I had already been served a meal about an hour ago, it was either she had forgotten or this was Rielle, trying to poison me.

“Lift your head,” I commanded. Even though I was a prisoner and a low–ranked Wolf as they think, the workers in this mansion must know not to to disobey me or treat me badly.

She slowly lifted her head and I saw that she looked familiar. I had seen her around the mansion before, but there was no way I was going to know if she was sent by Rielle. She had olive dark skin and hazel eyes.

“Who sent you?,” I demanded, not like I’d know if she was even telling the truth. before she could speak up again, I warned. “And don’t you dare even think about lying to me?”

“Alpha,” she said slowly.

I glanced at her, then at the tray of food. I sensed the guard watching us and I inhaled deeply.

“Open it.”

She opened it slowly, using her b*dy to shield the guard away from looking. She glanced at me knowingly and I picked it up quickly and hid it in my blouse and she covered the plate

“I’m not hungry. Tell Luc–Alpha, that I’m grateful for his thoughtfulness,” I said and she nodded and began to walk away.

“Stop,” the guard commanded and my breath hitched in my throat. If he found out that it was an empty plate and reported back to Rielle, she’d know that there was something else in the plate.

Rielle was smart and would quickly figure out that Lucien was still on my side and that would pose a threat to my children.

“If the prisoner won’t eat, then I will,” I heard the guard say and my heart began to beat wildly, I couldn’t let him do that. I had to do something, quickly.

“The food is meant for the prisoner, on the Alpha’s command,” she said firmly.

“And she won’t eat it, we can’t let the good go to waste,” the guard insisted.

I swallowed hard as I kept thinking of what to say, to stop the guard.

“The Alpha would not like that. Or shall I tell him that the prisoner rejected it, but another guard took it?” I heard her ask as she inched closer to him, glaring at him. daringly.

“Go,” he finally said and I heaved a sigh of relief as I resolved to read the contents. of the letter when I got the chance.

I wondered why Lucien sent her and couldn’t come by himself. How does he even trust her, because Rielle is someone we shouldn’t underestimate. She could even have all the maids in the mansion working for her.

I didn’t wait that long as I saw the guard mutter something and walk away.

I quickly opened the letter and began to read.

I am really sorry for being unable to help you right now and I hope you understand why. Rick is fine and I’m keeping an eye on him. Rielle seems pissed and wants to be in charge of your trial by herself. There was something you wanted to tell me, if it’s important, you can leave a message with Yulianna whenever she comes by. I’m also keeping an eye on Greyson and I’ll need the exact

location of this seer‘

I glanced at the letter again, unsure of its origin. It wasn’t handwritten so there was no way to figure out who actually wrote it. Lucien or Rielle.

“Mummy!!” The familiar voice broke my reverie and I turned to see Rick with Rielle.

She actually brought him to see me–like this. I glanced down at myself and swallowed hard. I hadn’t had my bath in days and Rielle knew, yet, she brought

him to me like this.

I glared at her and the smile on her face widened. She must have really enjoyed torturing me like that. The guard opened the door and she told him to excuse us

“Rick,” I whispered as he ran into my embrace, blinking back the tears that

threatened to fall. I couldn’t let my son see me in tears, even though he already saw me like this.

I pulled away quickly, realizing how horrible I must smell and I glanced at her. She was standing at a distance, watching.

“Mummy, is it true that you are now with the bad men?,” he asked, looking up at my face and I struggled to stop the tears that clouded my eyes.

“Who–who told you that?” I asked, blinking rapidly. I already knew it was Rielle. She would do anything to make me seem like a bad mother.

“Luna mummy,” he chirped and I glanced at Rielle. She must’ve told him to call her that. She smiled, her eyes twinkling with mischief.

“When will Kai come back?,” he asked again and I knelt down to reach his height.

“Very soon, baby. Very soon. Have you been eating well?”

He smiled widely. “Luna mummy has been giving me ice cream.”

Was she trying to take my child from me? the damned b*tch!.

“Mummy, when will you leave here?,” he asked, his l*ps pouting and I inhaled deeply as I glanced at her.

“Very soon. I’ll be back with Kai,” I said reassuringly.

Chapter 56

“Mummy, I-”

“Go back. Luna mummy will take care of you-” he cut me off, stomping his feet.

“But she keeps saying you will not come back,” he grumbled and I clenched my fist as I glared at her murderously.

“Mummy, will you come back?,” he asked again and I unclenched my fist and pulled him into my embrace, inhaling his scent.

I pulled him away and whispered something to him and he smiled as he sprinted. away, a smile on his face.

She glanced at him, furrowing her brows, clearly surprised to see him run happily away like that.

“What did you tell him?” she raised an eyebrow at me, taking a step closer.

“None of your business. I just had a conversation with my son!” I half yelled, folding my arms and glaring at her.

I was trying to control my rising temper but she just wouldn’t let me. I really wanted to punch that smile out of her face.

“Does he know how much of a bad mother you are?” she chuckled, holding her nose as she glared at me in disgust. “And you stink, ewww,” she spat out.

“Why did you bring him here?”

“You said you missed him and you wanted to see him. I was just helping you out. You should be thanking me right now,” she said with a smile and chuckled.

Apparently, what she was saying was funny. I joined her in laughing.

“You will never get away with this,” I pointed out and she laughed again.

“Wrong. I have already gotten away with it. I have everything and everyone I need. What do you have? Just some little children that could be eliminated at any time?” she paused and chuckled again. “I think you’ve already lost this.”

“You don’t care about Lucien. He’s just a pawn in your little scheme. I don’t know. exactly what it is you’re after, but you won’t succeed,” I bit out and the way she glared at me nearly made me fall with fright.

Chapter 36

Her eyes were blazing with fire and I could see her jaw clenched. She was really pissed and I internally berated myself. I had tried so hard not to provoke her, for my children’s sake, but apparently, my anger was too much.

“You seem to have no fear anymore,” she said with a very calm tone and I swallowed hard.

She must be really pissed off, for her to be so calm right now.

“I just stated a fact,” I pointed out and she nodded.

“Oh—about that, I have no problems with people stating facts,” she took a step forward, entering the cell. “It smells horrible in here.”

“Yeah, well I wouldn’t be in here if not for someone,” I shot out firmly, my arms still folded.

She chuckled lightly and then looked at me, her expression now serious and I swallowed hard, tightly folding my arms

“You must think you’re superwoman or something–since you can’t get hurt.”
