Chapter 55

Chapter 55

“How’s Rick?” I asked, trying to get him to say something, anything.

He regained his composure and heaved a sigh. “He’s well. She wouldn’t hurt. him..not right now,”

“I know.”

“Did Norman tell you all these?, about Greyson and Rielle?” He stood up, shoving his hands deep into his pocket.

“He wasn’t trying to save his own skin. He had no reason to… his mother was taken against his own will!” I bit out, standing up to face him.

“He’s a criminal,” he removed his hands from his pocket. “For all we know, he might be lying, taking advantage of your kindness.”

I shook my head in denial. I’d know if I was being deceived and I know I wasn’t. Whoever the leader of the Blood Creek was, we need to find him quickly.

“Lucien, I believe him. Besides, Eve trusts him too!…”

“He’s her mate!” he almost screamed and glanced around to see other prisoners glancing at us,

He muttered a curse and wove his hand through his hair. “Goddammit! Amara.”

I was tempted to inch closer to him, to touch him, to wrap my hands around his n*eck and k*ss him. But I knew better. He was right about Rielle, she had all the support she needed, she must have spies planted everywhere, I couldn’t risk provoking her and jeopardizing my son’s safety.

“Since when did you even start trusting Eve?,” he questioned and I sighed.

“She’s my sister,” I pointed out.

“You hated her. You know what I’m talking about. I heard you were the one who even turned her in,” he stated, probably wondering why I suddenly started. defending a sister whom I’d hated for years.

“I don’t hate her anymore. She’s the only family I have left,” I turned my gaze away.

If I told Lucien the story about how I came to trust Eve and fiercely protect her like this, I’d still have to tell him about my powers and the lycan king being my biological father.

“Bullshit!. Amara, there’s something more. Something you aren’t saying,” he tried to lock gazes with me, but I kept avoiding him.

If I looked at him, I might be tempted to k*ss his l*ps which suddenly seemed tempting.

“I don’t know what you want to

hear and I really don’t care right now. All we need to do right now is to find a way for Norman to break that oath,” I paused. “He’s our only hope right now,” I pointed out.

He exhaled loudly. “How do you trust him so much?”

“I..we met a seer in Greyvine. That was why I left the mansion.

“You weren’t in Silverpine?” he scrunched his eyebrows in confusion.

“No!, I left with Eve,” I said, pursing my l*ps. His questions were beginning to irk

  1. me.

I knew it would be difficult to believe all of those, but he was making it seem like I was a fool.

“To see this seer and she confirmed his story?” he questioned, sounding not in the least bit convinced.

“She did,” I said.

Even though the seer never mentioned it to me. She did tell Eve that there was a way to break Norman’s oath, which meant that they both weren’t lying.

“And you trust this seer..because?” he asked, raising a brow.

“She seemed genuine. She knew my thoughts. She answered the questions I didn’t even speak of,” I revealed.

“And she didn’t tell you who the leader of the Blood Creek is, how genuine.”

“She said something–”

“Lucien!,”

We turned back to see the very familiar blue eyes. She was glaring at me murderously and something about her eyes made me shudder with fright.

“Rielle..,” he whispered, moving away from me and my heart clenched at that.

She walked past Lucien and stopped in front of me.

“What were you telling him? A lie to save your skin?” she scoffed. “You traitorous b*tch!,” she spat out in disgust and I winced.

I curled my fist into a hall and swallowed hard, the rage threatening to consume

“Rielle–”

She cut him off and turned to face him.

“What was she telling you?, why are you with her?-do you still love her?,” She shrieked and Lucien sighed as he moved closer to her and wrapped his arms. around her.

“She brought a traitor here, I wanted to know why. And I don’t love her, if I did, she wouldn’t be in the cell,” he assured as he placed a k*ss on her forehead.

The ache in my chest came back with much force. I didn’t know what to do as the tears began to well up in my eyes.

“Bitch, are you crying?” she pulled away from Lucien and snorted.

“No–it’s–it’s um–I miss my children,” I stuttered.

“Don’t think you can use your children as leverage to get away from this. What happened was a mistake, your children a huge mistake!,” she spat out and I swallowed hard.

She just called my children a joke. My heart ached at the thought of Lucien with her. He said he had to do all that to get closer to her, but it still hurts.

“She knows her place,” Lucien said, glaring at me as he held her hands. “Come, you don’t want to stress the baby.”

As they turned to leave, Lucien wrapping his hands around her and guiding her out of the cell, I swallowed the lump in my throat and clenched my fist.

“Rielle,” I called out. I couldn’t hold it in any longer, I had to.

They both turned and while Lucien’s face was scrunched up In confusion as his eyes seemed to tell me to not do whatever I was planning on doing, Rielle scoffed- and her eyes lit up with mischief.

“What is it?” she demanded, brows raised up inquisitively.

“Can I see my son?”

“Lucien’s son! And that’s why I’m taking care of him. What kind of mother. abandons her child!” she exclaimed.

I stared at her in confusion. I certainly did not abandon Rick, Lucien threatened. me! He said I could leave, but not with him.

“I-” I saw Lucien shake his head softly and I understood. Lucien must’ve told her that I didn’t want to take my child with me. He wanted to seem indifferent to them, after all, we never got to reveal to him that Lucien is his father.

“You what!” she snapped.

“I just wanted to know if he’s doing okay, if he eats well if he isn’t sick,” I blinked back the tears that threatened to fall.

“If you wanted to make sure of all that, you shouldn’t have left him here,” she declared and turned to walk away.

I wanted to say something, instead, I clenched and unclenched my fist, holding back in order not to say something that could jeopardize Kai and Rick’s safety.

One can’t say what exactly would happen when it came to matters involving Rielle.

Lucien stared at me, his eyes apologising and I sighed, wondering if everything would’ve been different if I had never gone to the bar that day. Then I wouldn’t have met Lucien. Then everything would be different, I wouldn’t have gone to human territory, nob*dy would be watching me and I wouldn’t be going through

all these.

I did not try to stop the tears, I let them stream down my face and didn’t try to wipe them off. Sherry was someone I trusted so much, almost even more than my mother, I didn’t think she’d ever betray me, but then she did, in the most painful way possible.

Chapter 55

The ache in my heart returned and this time it was even more painful, as if my chest was being jabbed by a pin.

I clutched my blouse and knelt down, crouching as I groaned, the pain subsiding at bit as I began to take slow, deep breaths.

“Are

you okay?” I looked up to see one of the guards looking at me with concern.

I held up a hand, beckoning him to wait.

“Should I get water?,” he asked and I shook my head.

I’ve been getting the pain for a while and it always leaves after a while.

I heaved a sigh as the pain finally disappeared.

“I’m fine,” I breathed out and he nodded and turned away.

I looked at the other empty cells, wondering why I was kept there instead of being with Eve and Norman.

When the guards took us, we were in the same cell. I and Eve were even in a room together, discussing ways to get Lucien’s attention. Eve had expressed her disappointment towards Lucien.

Suddenly, some of the guards came and I smiled, with the thought that Lucien had come to free us and listen to what we had to say and why we brought Norman.

We both stood up. But to my disappointment, Eve was taken out alone and when I asked where she was being taken to, he replied with something that broke my heart even further.

“She’s been taken to a wing X, for extreme criminals.”
