Chapter 76
Chapter 76
“Admiring the moon is so boring. Come out and have some fun. Selena is here, too, Hector replied to my text promptly. He included a photo.
In the photo, he and Selena were singing at a bar with a bunch of people. Selena was dressed like a sexy. wild cat, and she was hugging a bottle of beer to herself while chugging it.
“I’m not going. Keep an eye on Selena and make sure she’s safe.”
I was a little worried about Selena after seeing her in that state, so I responded very quickly.
“Okay. Don’t worry,” Hector answered swiftly.
Gordon turned his head right when I closed my chat window with Hector. However, he had clearly caught a glimpse of it.
He looked rather displeased.
“Do the two of you chat often?”
“Not often. Just once in a while.” I answered truthfully.
“I’m going to repeat myself–I don’t want you to become too close to my friends,” he said suddenly, his voice lowering.
Hector and I weren’t actually very close. I felt that we interacted like ordinary friends, and I couldn’t understand why Gordon minded so much.
“Let’s just admire the moon in silence. This pie is pretty good. Have a taste.”
The moonlight was beautiful that night, and I did not want us to squabble over such a trivial matter. I took a bite of the pie.
Mom hadn’t lied to me. This pumpkin pie was amazing, and the crust was perfect. It wasn’t too rich, and it
tasted very sweet.
I was chewing when Gordon suddenly said, “Didn’t you always say that you wanted to have a child? If you behave yourself, we can start preparing for pregnancy at the end of this year.”
I almost choked on my pie.
I hurriedly gulped down a few mouthfuls of water to calm myself down before I turned to look at him. I felt he was becoming increasingly difficult to understand.
Hadn’t he told me just recently that I was dreaming if I was thinking of having a child?
What was wrong with him now? Why did he suddenly want to have a child with me?
“I’ve changed my mind now. I want to focus on my career for the moment, and I don’t want to consider having children right now,” I said to him.
Gordon’s expression darkened noticeably. He turned and looked at me sharply, with a note of disbelief in

his eyes.
“What on earth do you want now?”
“What do you mean?”
“I told you that we don’t need to keep being so hostile with each other. Perhaps we can change the way. we interact and live in peace together.”
Gordon emphasized this again, and his tone sounded very sincere. It was as if he had really considered it
thoroughly.
I did not buy it.
I sat up and looked at him in confusion, then asked, “How should we change the way we interact? Should we be like siblings? Then, can we
Gordon had just picked up a piece of cantaloupe. He hadn’t even had time to chew before he almost choked on it because of what I had just said.
