Chapter 6
Chapter 6
I looked at the time. It was 6:00 pm.
Then, I remembered that this was the call that broke our ten–year–long friendship in my previous life.
Back then, Selena had broken up and needed someone to comfort her. However, when she called me, I rejected her because I wanted to stay at home and wait for Gordon to return for dinner.
That night, Gordon would only come back at midnight after he was drunk.
Meanwhile, Selena would go to the bar with some bad company because I didn’t accompany her. She was taken away by a random man after drinking too much.
When she realized the danger she was in after she sobered up, she tried calling me multiple times. However, I ignored the calls and didn’t go to her.
I had hurt her by prioritizing my partner, and it led her to the nightmare of her lifetime.
Even though the Stewart family called the cops and the man was arrested and punished severely,
Selena’s reputation was ruined. Our friendship ended entirely there as well.
This time, I would not let the same nightmare happen again or let myself lose my best friend.
I got into my car and drove to Paradise Club. If memory served, this club belonged to one of Gordon’s
best friends, Hector Judd.
The Judds were a great family in Sobrough City as well, and Hector was the only heir to the Judd family’s head. They owned a boat–making business.
Unfortunately, Hector had no interest in his family’s business. He would rather manage the luxurious private club than inherit the family business.
In my previous life, among Gordon’s best friends, Hector hated and despised me the most.
Every time I saw him, he would be sarcastic to me, and we would insult each other. We didn’t like each other, so I had never set foot in his club once.
After I had experienced death, all the tiny imperfections in life didn’t matter to me anymore. As for Hector, he was nothing but a passerby in my life.
After I parked my car, I headed straight into Paradise Club.
As expected of Sobrough City’s best luxurious private club, I was stunned by the atmospheric decorations when I entered the building.
I had experience in places like this, so I knew at first glance that the renovations must’ve cost a great fortune. This place was so luxurious that the paintings on the wall were acquired from auctions.
Selena told me she was in room eight, so I kept walking along the hallway. Because I was focused on my phone, I accidentally burpped into someone.
“I’m…”
I was about to instinctively apologize when I suddenly heard a man’s gentle yet slightly excited voice.
“It’s you, Taylor!”
I wondered who it was. Who would know me here?
I was stunned and quickly lifted my head. A dashing face entered my view.
I had always been a sucker for good looks, and I would usually be nice to handsome guys.
However, this was the only face that I hated at first glance. That face belonged to the man I hated the most, Hector Judd.
“Oh! It’s Mr. Judd! Sorry for appearing at your precious club. If you mind me tainting your territory, I can go somewhere else with my best friend.”
My voice became cold in an instant. I could still clearly remember how he mocked me nonstop in my previous life.
“Why would I mind? Everyone’s a guest here. Your best friend is Selena, right? She’s in room eight.”
Unexpectedly, the man who never liked me wasn’t angered by what I said. Instead, he even s gentle when he gave me directions, I couldn’t believe my ears.
sounded
I remembered he wasn’t a nice guy, so I wondered what tricks he was playing at that moment.
Even though he was nice to me, I rolled my eyes at him rudely.
I didn’t want to waste my time guessing what was on his mind. I walked around him and went straight to room eight. Then, I swiftly opened the door and entered.
In the room, there were a few similar women. Selena sat in the middle in her champagne–colored dress.

When they saw me, the women immediately surrounded me like they had seen a pig fly.
I used to hang out with these ladies before I got married. However, among all of them, Selena and I were the closest. Other than that. Yvonne Hayes was close with us, too.
However, Yvonne had been staying abroad and studying medicine. I didn’t expect she would appear here. today as well.
When Yvonne saw I was excited too, she quickly gave me a big hug and exclaimed, “Tay, you sure are a
rare guest!
“Ever since you got married, you disappeared from our group! You sure don’t value us more than your
partner at all!”
“Never mind you. Even I have a hard time trying to see her. She’s harder to meet than royalty!
“All she has cared about for the past two years is how she can have Gordon’s baby. There’s no way she would have time for us.” Selena made fun of me in front of everyone while grabbing my arm.
Chapter 6
They were right. Ever since I got married, I became distant from my best friends. Every time they invited me to something, I would first think of Gordon’s feelings and rarely join them in gatherings.
“It’s my fault! I shall punish myself by drinking three shots tonight! Happy birthday, my dear Selena!”
I gave Selena the gift I had prepared in advance. It was a diamond brooch in the shape of a sunflower.
Even though it cost a lot, I bought it without a second thought because I wanted to make up for what I did
to Selena last time.
Selena took the gift with a smile. When she heard that I was going to drink three shots, her mouth opened
wide in shock.
“You’re finally willing to drink! Didn’t you announce the night before your wedding that you’re cutting out alcohol because you wanted to prepare yourself for pregnancy? Won’t Gordon be angry if you start
drinking again?”
“I’m still young, so why should I prepare for pregnancy? There are still so many things I want to do. Besides, why should I care about what Gordon thinks? I’ll do whatever I want!”
After I opened my mind, I stopped caring about everything else. When I spoke, I could feel the pressure in my chest clearing away.
I took the glass on the table and drank three shots in a row. My best friends started cheering immediately.
“What has gotten into you recently? Have you finally gotten sensible, or were you reborn as a new person?
“Why do you feel like a different person, Tay? No matter what we said previously, you would never listen.
Did you have an epiphany by yourself?”
Yvonne was the first among the three of us to realize the truth. She used to keep telling me to stop being so blindly in love. She was happier than anyone else when she heard what I said.
“Yeah, I see the truth now. From now on, we’ll hang around like we used to. You were right, Yve. We women need to have our own world and career. There’s no point in living our lives for men!”
After drinking a few glasses, I started getting emotional and couldn’t help hugging and kissing Yvonne.
When I was diagnosed with cancer in my previous life, all of my friends had abandoned me.
Yvonne and Selena were the only ones who stayed by my side. Knowing I had no money, they gathered. funds for my surgery without hesitation..
Unfortunately, I was still a stubborn fool in the end, thinking that Gordon would visit me before my surgery.
I rented the cruise ship behind their backs and didn’t make it to the surgery. Instead, my life ended in the
ocean.
“Haha! I don’t find it weird to hear Yve say something like that. But, Tay? I’m in awe to hear you say that!” Selena couldn’t help making fun of me.
I could tell they were both happy for me for being clear–headed now.

“Alright, that’s enough about me. Our beloved Ms. Stewart is the star of the show tonight. Let’s give her the best birthday!” I changed the topic with a smile and quickly got everyone Into the mood.
Everyone instantly returned to their senses and started wishing Selena a happy birthday. Then, the staff at the club pushed in a birthday cake.
That night we had tremendous fun. It had been a long while since I was able to relax like this.
I finally realized how great it was to not have anyone constantly on my mind.
I drank a lot that night. Selena and I had to support each other when we stood up. We wobbled out of the room and went to the restroom together.
“Please teach me, Gordon. This pole is so heavy. I can’t lift it”
A coy woman’s voice came out of the room next to ours. When I heard that voice, I couldn’t help stopping in my tracks.
