The Reborn Wife Strikes Back ( Gordon Holmes’ )

Chapter 50

Chapter 50

I took a deep breath to calm my nerves. Then, I headed backstage to prepare for the performance.

At that moment, Sabrina seemed to stand out like a clown vying for attention. She looked out of place. I could hear some mocking comments being thrown her way.

“How long has she been with the company? Acting all eager like this, doesn’t she realize the occasion tonight? Boldly recommending herself to Mr. Holmes–talk about ambition, right?”

“Yeah, it’s quite surprising. She’s usually so low–key. I never would’ve thought she had such ambitions. Did you see how embarrassed Hannah looked just now?”

“You’re right. She’s reaching for the stars without realizing her place. Mrs. Holmes is the epitome of elegance and beauty. What does Sabrina, a simple girl, have to compare?”

“Yeah. Reaching Grade 10 in learning plano is impressive. I’m also in Grade 10 but didn’t dare mention it

earlier.”

Sabrina’s colleagues from her department clearly disapproved of her recent attention–seeking behavior. They couldn’t resist gossiping about it.

I glanced at Sabrina and noticed she remained standing in the same spot, biting her lip and clenching her fists. Her eyes seemed defiant, with tears glistening in them.

She must be feeling distraught.

I had interrupted their reunion earlier, but I couldn’t help but wonder if Gordon would find himself falling

for her again.

Would the script be rewritten?

I couldn’t say for sure, but I didn’t have time to dwell on it.

The host was already briefing the audience, so I composed myself. As the applause began, I stepped onto the stage and sat before the white piano at the center.

I played Chopin’s “Waltz in C–sharp Minor“, a piece I had practiced diligently at home for days. So, playing

it felt natural and effortless..

It had been a while since I performed on stage.

At that moment, I was utterly immersed in the music, ignoring my surroundings and focusing solely on

the piece.

The flowing notes danced under my fingers, carrying me away into a state of blissful absorption.

I still felt the lingering ecstasy as the piece concluded, and there was a moment of silence from the

audience.

Thinking I had performed poorly due to the absence of applause, I was surprised when the entire hall. suddenly erupted into thunderous applause.

Chapter 50

Standing up amidst the cheers, I acknowledged the audience. As I turned to walk offstage, to my utter surprise, Gordon was walking up onto the stage.

Before everyone, he gallantly extended his hand toward me.

As I placed my hand in his, he leaned down and gently kissed it. Then, he gestured for me to link arms with him as he escorted me off the stage.

It was undoubtedly the highest courtesy and respect a husband could show his wife publicly.

This was the same Gordon who used to be so aloof and god–like in my eyes.

I was highly astonished.

As we stepped off the stage, he turned to me, and his first words were, “I had no idea you played the piano so well.”

In my previous life, I had never shown him my true abilities. All he knew of me was that I was a troubled

and lovestruck woman.

I had only ever loved him blindly before. Yet, I never realized that a woman must also shine on her own to capture a man’s lasting affection.

Gordon’s eyes were filled with tenderness, indulgence, and approval. It was a sight I had never witnessed

before.

Suddenly, I realized how naive I had been in my past life. I had ignored my strengths and stumbled through love with my weaknesses.

When our eyes met, I couldn’t help but smile with relief. I was happy to have found myself again.

My smile seemed to resonate with Gordon, prompting him to draw me into his embrace and tenderly kiss my forehead.

He whispered, “That’s how it should be. That’s what being Mrs. Holmes is all about.”
