Chapter 29
Chapter 29
Yvonne was already there upon our arrival at the hospital.
After checking my condition, she immediately arranged for me to receive an IV drip and specifically transferred me to a private room.
During the infusion, the drug in my system gradually wore off, and I slowly began to calm down.
All three of them stayed by my bed, sighing over the night’s events.
“Gordon is a scoundrel, leaving Tay alone on the road in the dead of night like that! I’ve never before encountered such a heartless husband. He’s truly worse than a beast!‘ Selena was visibly enraged.
Her fists clenched in anger, wishing she could confront Gordon at that very moment.
“Could it have been Gordon who orchestrated this with those two men? If so, he’s truly beyond
redemption. Is he even human?” Yvonne was seething, indignant on my behalf.
“It wasn’t him. No matter what, Gordon wouldn’t do something so outrageous.” Hector shook his head,
firmly denying Yvonne’s speculation.
“But who else knew about Tay being abandoned late at night? It seems someone had her in their sights to commit such a deed.” Yvonne crossed her arms, starting to analyze.
“Tay, have you made any enemies lately?” Selena turned to me with concern.
I had a suspicion about who might be behind this. But, given the recent escalation in tension between Mona, Willard, and myself, I wasn’t ready to bring my friends into the fray just yet.
I shook my head in response.
However, I couldn’t help but notice a flicker of doubt cross Hector’s eyes.
He almost spoke up but held back upon seeing my denial, instead offering a comforting pat on my
shoulder.
He said, “Lucky for you, you’re still safe. Otherwise, your reputation could’ve been irreparably damaged overnight. Rest assured, those responsible will not get off lightly.”
“Hector, when did you become so dependable? I remember Tay used to say you were second only to Gordon in being a jerk. What caused this sudden change of heart?” Selena teased him lightly.
She was aware of the past conflicts between Hector and me and was taken aback by his transformation.
Hector appeared slightly embarrassed by the teasing but soon responded with a laugh. “People change with time. I’ve realized that Tay isn’t as tough to get along with as I once thought.”
However, a deep voice from outside the room cut through the moment.
“Since when can you call her Tay?”
Hearing this voice, my heart instinctively tightened. I subconsciously looked up to see Gordon standing at

the hospital room’s door.
He was still dressed in the dark suit he wore that evening. The man who had almost led me into the
evildoers hands dared to show up so brazenly.
The sight of him instantly fueled my anger.
Selena was equally agitated upon seeing him.
She immediately stepped forward to confront him, “Gordon, do you even have a shred of humanity? Do you realize Tay almost faced grave danger after you abandoned her in the middle of nowhere at night?”
“Indeed. Gordon, regardless of your feelings for Tay, you can’t just disregard her life like that.
“She’s your lawful wife! Had anything serious happened to Tay tonight, you would have been the first we hold accountable!” Yvonne also stepped in.
Her words were sharp and protective, joining Selena in a verbal onslaught against Gordon.
Gordon stood quietly, his expression calm, and his deep eyes revealing no emotions.
This time, Gordon took the blows from Selena and Yvonne in stride. It was a stark contrast to his normal
behavior of deflecting any blame.
Not only did he not retort, but he also unprecedentedly admitted, “Yes, it’s my fault.”
“Now you admit it, huh? I thought you were oblivious to your actions. You’ve crossed the line, relying on
the Holmes family’s power to bully a woman!”
“This isn’t just any man’s wrongdoing, Gordon. If you ever treat Tay poorly again, even if she doesn’t
initiate a divorce, we’ll make sure she does!”
My two best friends were never ones to be trifled with. They seized t
