Chapter 29

Chapter 33

Is this all for me?” Nadia asked again. She looked at the round table he had set just for her. She liked his effort but she hated what he had prepared. She couldn’t show it as she knew he had prepared it because it was Iris‘ favorite food and so she jumped for joy when she saw the meal.

She looked at Vance’s facial expression as she jumped and she could tell he was happy that he had made her happy. She liked that and that made her jump even more. She soon stopped as she walked over to him and gave him a hug.

“Thank you Vance for this amazing meal. I’m so grateful. You did exceptionally well” she said as she leaned forward and gave him a k*ss on the cheek. If Vance was in his wolf form, she was sure he would have waggled his tail as she could see how happy and restless he looked. He too turned to thank her for liking it and coming back to him..

“I promise to be a better man to you, my people and my son, okay? So please, don’t ever leave me” he said to her. The words he spoke had always broken Nadia down as she melted after hearing those words. She had really wished she had heard them from Lucian’s mouth. Lucian had been so mean to her for over the years that she had forgotten all of the sweet memories Lucian and she had had together. Nadia heard her name as she immediately tried to come back to her consciousness.

She came back to her senses as she turned to look at her mate. “Did you call me?” Vance nodded. He said he had been talking to her for the last minute but she had not yet given him a reply.

“What is it you called me again?” She asked innocently. Vance flashed her a quick smile as he again pulled her gently by the arm to the

at in front of her and told her he would be right back. He brought with him a cup of water and some fresh looking fruits.

“Here you go!” He said as he handed her the fruits. “That would be for when you finish eating. The healer

memories.” He id to give you a lot of fruit. Maybe it would help you regain your

memories.” He said to her as he smiled. He too grabbed himself a plate, a cup of water and some fruits too. Nadia said a quick prayer as she dug into the meal. Halfway through the meal and she suddenly realized–their child had not eaten. She let out a little scream as she jumped to her feet. Vance also jumped to his feet as he hurriedly followed her. They both went into the kitchen with Vance asking her what had happened but she kept quiet! She pulled out a little plate and a spoon and walked back to the living room.

“I had almost forgotten that I had a child and I was supposed to feed them too. Can you imagine me?” She said out loud as she slapped her forehead. Vance laughed as he asked her if that was why she had stood up and screamed that way. Nadia nodded. “Wasn’t that a good reason to do so?” She asked with a straight face as she looked at her mate. Vance laughed and then, he stopped laughing.

“You should have asked first, before you panicked. I had food saved in the pot for him. It’s the smaller pot by the right and it is meant for him. Selene and I make his food differently since he can’t tolerate lactose.” He said with a smile. Nadia stopped what she had been doing as she paused and then turned to look at Vance. Wow! He was really a good man.

She then put away the little plate she was holding which she intended to scoop food into and smiled. She felt a little embarrassed but she continued eating. A few minutes later, she was full. She wasn’t exactly fully, she just could not eat the meal any longer. It was her least favorite and she felt like she was about to puke. She turned to her mate who was enjoying his meal and thanked him.

“Thank you so much for the meal” she said as she did a little bow. Her mate thanked her for eating and asked if she was heading inside to rest. “No, I think I’ll stay here and watch you cat,” she said to him. “Please continue” she said to him as she held up a cup of water to her mouth. She drank it forcefully, hoping it would help press down on her feelings to puke. A few seconds and it worked. She no longer felt the need to puke. She was grateful.

“So, I’ve always been meaning to ask, but now, you’re eating and I don’t know if that’ll be appropriate for me to ask, so maybe when you’re done” she said to him. Vance gestured to her to continue. It looked like he had no problem eating and still answering her questions. “I’ve missed you for a year. You’re allowed to ask me whatsoever you wish to ask. I’m all cars” he said as he grabbed his glass of water and washed down the food he had just eaten. He had gulped it all down and then cleared his throat.

“As you were saying???.” he said to her as he tried to read her mind.

Nadia took a deep breath and exhaled. She counted one to three in her mind before she finally dropped the bombshell.

She tried to hand his some water but he had emptied his glass and so did she. Nadia immediately jumped to her feet as she ran to the kitchen to get him a glass of water. As she returned and handed it over to him, he drank and then calmed down.

“Before you left, I made a terrible mistake, you might not have remembered it and that is why you are still happy with me but if you do, I am sure you would want to leave again.. the mistake I made was…. His voice trailed off.
