Chapter 28

Chapter 32

Nadia’s heart stopped. How did she find that out? She tried to calm herself down as she closed her eyes, calculating what she would say next. She searched through her head. and then found something to say. What if she became defensive instead?

“What do you mean, I am not the real Iris?” She said to her friend or rather, Iris‘ supposed friend as she placed a hand over Selene’s shoulder. She needed to make sure of what her friend was saying before she made a move.

can I have asked around and everyone seems to say the same thing. They say you don’t act like the real Iris. So who are you?” Selene said boldly. Her eyes fixed on Nadia. She didn’t even look like she was breathing. Nadia was becoming nervous. What was she to do

“Who do you suggest I am then? Did I steal this b*dy, or something like that?” She

hushed herself. She was giving away her secrets to the person she imagined could easily figure out the truth.

She blinked severally and then turned the other way. She could see Selene watching her from the comer of her eye. She had her gaze fixed on Nadia, it was beginning to make

We really uncomfortable. She wished her mate would call her name so that she

would be forced to leave and attend to him.

But as she turned to look out for him, he had left. She was sure he was inside. She turned back to Selene with confidence, she was no longer the old Nadia. She was Iris, a powerful werewolf and she would act like it.

Nadia turned to face her friend and then flashed her a smile.

“If you’re saying I am not Iris, then who am I?” She asked calmly. Selene folded her arms as she began to speak. She heaved a sigh first.

“I think you might be Iris, my best friend but maybe you need a little re–awakening and

I think I have the perfect solution for that!” She said as she started to move, slowly encircling her friend. Nadia was a little confused at first but it seemed she was understanding what her friend meant.

“Let me get you straight. You say I am Iris but I am not Iris and so I need a re- awakening to become the real Iris? Have you discussed this with anyone besides me?” She asked with curiosity in her eyes. Selene shook her head. Iris was the first person she had discussed this with and it was for her own good.

“Are you in or are you not?” She said to Iris.

Nadia nodded. If this re–awakening process would lead her to getting some of Iris memories, she was going to be down for it. She lifted her head to face her friend.

“Alright, I think I’ll want to do it but I just need a little more time to think about it and possibly discuss this with the alpha. I’d love to hear what he say and then get back to you. Is that okay?” She said to her friend. Selene looked surprised as she stood, watching her friend talk.

“What seems to be the matter?” Nadia asked but Selene still stood there speechless, after a few seconds, she exhaled deeply and then spoke.

‘No one would ever believe me now if I told them we were best friends. You and I used to be inseparable. If I was going somewhere, you would go to and if you were headed anywhere, I would be your backbone. Now, you barely even remember me and yet, you had seen me the day you came here. I introduced myself telling you I had held your child. Iris, what really happened to you? You can tell me. I want to know” her friend said Calmly. Nadia was moved..

She had always wished for Lyra to be this way, just as Selene was with Iris, but instead. she got a backstabber as a friend. She closed her eyes as she tried to avoid tears from rolling down her eyes. She opened them again as she looked at Selene. Selene had. already begun to cry too and not too long after, both women started to cry profusely. One was crying for her friend who had changed so much while the other cried because she had wished her friend had turned out that way.

Their tears and sobs attracted attention from everyone who had passed by. Even the kids who were playing had now stopped and were staring at them. Iris’son went inside to call his father and not long after, her mate came out as she saw her son point to her from the corner of her eye. Her mate looked flustered as he walked to her.

e tried

“Iris honey. Why are you crying?” He asked as he also looked at her friend. to stop crying and then looked at the alpha. “Alpha, I deeply apologize for this. I’ll be on my way now.” She said and then she turned to Nadia. “It’s good to have you home. Take care and think about that thing I offered to help you with okay? With that, she ran in the opposite direction.

Nadia watched as her friend ran away and then turned to look at her mate. He stood before her as he reached her for a deep hug. “You don’t need to cry, darling. I am here for you. Whatever is bothering you, you can tell it to me” he said as he tightly embraced her. Their embrace lasted for a second before he eventually let go. He pulled her gently as he led her to the house. Once they were inside, he uncovered the clothe he had laid on the table for her.

“Dov

you like it?” He asked her. Naida could not believe her eyes as she saw what had laid on the table. “Is this for me?” She asked happily. Vance nodded. “There is more where that came from.”
