Chapter 11
Chapter 11
Edith was originally going to join the competition with Jeanne, but Shane would run in the relay race for her since he came.
Edith stood beside Shane, holding his coat and cheering them on. “Come on, Jeanne!”
Gideon and Joyce also came to the starting line.
Shane glanced at Gideon.
When they looked at each other, Gideon’s eyes were cold, and Shane’s were smiling, with strong hostility toward each other.
The race ended soon. Shane and Gideon were neck and neck, but Jeanne ran much faster than Joyce. Jeanne rushed all the way to the end and threw herself into the arms of Edith, who had been waiting there for a long time. Jeanne shouted with joy, “Mommy, I won!”
Her little face flushed, and her eyes were bright and clear. Edith couldn’t help but rub her cheeks.
Joyce, who lost the game, was upset and stomped her feet in dissatisfaction. “How could she win?!”
Looking at Shane, Edith, and Jeanne immersed in joy, Gideon looked away with a cold face. Danika held Joyce in her arms and comforted her. “It’s okay, Joyce. There are still so many events. I believe you will get a sticker, okay?”
But even if Joyce got the sticker in the end, she was still unhappy.
Gideon asked, “Joyce, why are you unhappy?”
“Jeanne won’t join the next games. It cannot prove I’m better than her!”
Gideon was a little stunned when he heard Jeanne’s name. “Don’t you like her?”
“Of course. She…” Joyce pursed her lips and wanted to continue, but Danika tugged her clothes, and she immediately understood after turning around to see Danika giving her a wink. She threw herself into Gideon’s arms, acting like a baby. “Daddy, come back and stay with me today.”
Gideon usually didn’t live with them and rarely went to see them.
“Right. Giddy, it’s been a long time since you came back to have dinner with Joyce,” Danika echoed in a soft voice.
Gideon thought for a while and agreed.
Shane and Jeanne, who had won several games, were celebrating with Edith exultantly.
In order to thank Shane for coming to support them today, Edith said, “Shane, come to my house for dinner today. I will cook.”
Shane lifted Jeanne and replied, “That’s great. I haven’t had your cooking for a long time. There’s also something about work I need to talk to you.”
Shane majored in archaeology and was very talented in this field. He even became the youngest and most promising professor in the school.
“Then let’s go to the supermarket to buy groceries later. Bonnie is helping me look after

Ruben at home.”
Shane nodded. “I know.”
“Do you know it?”
Jeanne immediately raised her chubby hand. “Bonnie and I called Shane over!”
Only then did Edith understand why Bonnie winked at Jeanne yesterday. Edith smiled, “You little smart pumpkin!”
Soon, Shane drove to a supermarket.
Jeanne clamored for snacks, and Shane put everything she liked in the shopping cart.
“Shane, don’t spoil Jeanne. She is…”
Shane pushed the cart and looked at Jeanne, who was standing in the cart, waving her arms like a leader. “It’s okay. I usually don’t have the chance to buy her anything.
“Besides, Jeanne picked a lot of things for Ruben, right?” He leaned down and rubbed Jeanne’s little nose.
Jeanne nodded vigorously. “Yeah!”
They drove toward Edith’s villa after buying three large bags of things. Just as Edith got out of the car to carry the bags, Shane let her hold Jeanne, saying, “I got this. Just hold Jeanne.”
Edith could only hold Jeanne in her arms, and Shane carried three large bags alone, walking beside them.
Not far away, Danika opened the door to send Gideon out after a simple dinner, only to see Gideon frozen in place with his eyes fixed in a certain direction.
“Giddy, what are you looking at?” Danika looked over curiously, very surprised. “Ms. Jones?
“She lives in the same neighborhood as us? What a coincidence! She’s in the building just in front of ours. Maybe we can visit her next time when we’re available.”
Gideon didn’t respond, only feeling the anger surging in his heart that was about to make him lose his mind.
He clenched his fists, the veins on the back of his hands popping out slightly.
ddy?
After a long while, he took a deep breath. “I’m fine.”
